Re: Richard Altomare

Dear Judge Dimitrouleas:

I have known Richard Altomare for approximately 12 years. We met whilehe was the president of a package delivery business, and I was the CEO of thePony Express, a publicly traded company in the same sector.

professional, and honest in his dealings with our company.

Since then, Mr. Altomare has been a client of my law firm, and again, I haveseen nothing other than a good and decent man who was trying desperately to getback on his feet.

I know nothing about his present predicament, but wanted to at least speakas to his character, as I have known him for longer than the last decade.

Respectfully submitted,

Peter Ticktin

Dear Mr. KlughThank you fortaking the time to read what i have to say about Richard Altomare - a close friend of mine for 15 years.

I was shocked to hear that he might have to serve jail time. I know him as a wonderful and caring husband with a very

gentle naturo. To me he has been very forthright and honest and never shared anything about his previous business,

never offering information or suggested'anything about buying his stock.

Richard is very patriotic and feels deeply about gur country and institutions. I cannot believe he would every be a

threat to the community.

His wife and family would benefit more than serving any time in incarceration.

thank you very much. ,/ A

Hon. William P. Dimitrouleas United States District Judge 299 East Broward Boulevard Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301

Dear Judge Dimitrouleas,

I am writing this letter on behalf of my father, Richard Altomare, who stands before you convicted of securities and wire fraud. I understand he has made some mistakes but I hope this letter can shed some light on his true essence and why I hope you can find it in your heart to show him some leniency.

He puts everyone else first. Without hesitation, he puts his family, friends, and those less fortunate before himself. He is the first person to stop on the side of the road to help someone and the first person to aid family or friends in need. He does not help only when it's convenient but has an overall compassion that consistently shines for humanity.

He is a loving son. He came from humble beginnings and always shared a mutual respect and admiration with his parents. He called his mother everyday she was alive and was always there for his parents no matter how tough times were.

He is a devoted father. He was always available fo r me when I needed him, unequivocally supporting me in my life choices. As a kid he came to every sporting event cheering me on with thoughtful advice and direction. As an adult he has been a trusted confidant and someone who I rely heavily on for advice and emotional support.

He is respected brother. He is a beloved brother, Uncle and great Uncle. He now calls his sister everyday, offers emotional support and is very active in their lives.

He is a devoted husband. He is a loving and supportive husband to his wife Barbara and has been married for 18 years.

He is admired by his extended family. He is loved by his wife's children and adored by his grandchildren.

He is an appreciated member of his community. He served his country, has volunteered his time, helps the less fortunate, and strives to serve his community.

Please consider all of the good he has done and all the contributions he has made to his family and the community. This is his first offense and one I know he has learned from.

Dear Judge Dimitrouleas,

I am writing on behalf of my wife Elaine Fruchtman and myself. This is in regard to the upcoming sentencing of Richard Altomare on May &h.

We ask that you show extreme leniency when contemplating Richards' fate.

Richard has shown us over the years to be a dedicated family man. He had taken care of his parents as they aged, always took care of his two sons Brian and Scott, making sure they were provided for emotionally and in all walks of life.

When Richard married my sister he was welcomed into our family and became a trusted and respected member of the family. He has always been there as a support and was called upon for advice due to his great accomplishments over the years in so many capacities.

Richard became known within our family as Grandpa Buddy. This was in response to how his four grandchildren Justin, Jillian, Derek and Kayla adored him. It has been Grandpa Buddy who provided love, happiness and safety to these children that he earned that title.

Your Honor, Richard Altomare is a good man with a big heart. Please consider the utmost leniency you can in this decision. You will be keeping a family together and in the process you will be giving someone a new lease on life.

I know that given a leniency Richard will be forever grateful and make choices that will further make him a credit to the family and in the greater community.

Thank you so much for this consideration. May you and your loved ones be blessed and enjoy healthy long lives .

. :~f1.--1~ Sincerely

Neil and Elaine Fruchtman

The Hon. Judge William P. Dimitrouleas United States District Judge 299 East Broward Boulevard Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301

Dear Judge Dimitrouleas:

I am writing to provide a character reference for Richard Altomare who will be facing sentencing at your court on May 6, 2014.

I am Richard's cousin through marriage, and have known and witnessed Richard's character for 20 years.

I have had two major personal tragedies in my life during these 20 years. Two family members passed away, my husband in 2008 and my father in 2012. Both times during my grieving, Richard took me under his wing, and provided continual support that I will never forget. His caring was so generous, and without his kindness, my grieving would have been much more diffi cu lt . In fact, when my husband passed away in 2008, I decided to move to Florida at Richard's insistence, and a day did not go by without Richard calling to make sure I was okay. I cannot praise enough Richard's altruism. He is a man of great heart and soul.

I have witnessed over and over again Richard's genuine concern for others in our family, particularly, his mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and sister-in-law. He has always exhibited extreme selflessness, and has been a pillar to our family.

Sincerely,

Francine Auerbach

Hon. William P. Dimitrouleas United States District Judge 299 East Broward Boulevard Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301

Dear Judge Dimitrouleas,

April 4, 2014

I understand that my father, Richard Altomare, is being sentenced for mail and securities fraud on May 6th 2014. My hope is that this short letter paints a more accurate picture of his true character from a son's perspective of his father.

As the youngest son and unfortunate product of divorce at a very early age, I've relied heavily on my father for guidance and support throughout my life and past th irty-three years. My mother past away from ovarian cancer in 2006, when I was twenty-five, and my father has been a steady and comforting parent during these difficult eight years. The thought of him not being around for the next few years seems inconceivable. The notion that he will not be around to take care of his wife, my stepmother, and enjoy his late 60's, is very difficult to comprehend as well .

It is also hard for me because I know how hard he has worked over the past six years to keep his family and life together, with dignity intact. During his lifetime my father has tried his best to provide a stable environment for his children through turbulent times, both financially and emotionally.

I know very little about this completed FBI investigation and what it entailed but I do know that I have been raised by a very kind, generous, stable, and inspiring father that should not be locked away in a federal prison for the better part of his twilight years.

I would ask that you take into account the threat he poses to the public at large at age sixty-six if given a minimum sentence vs. maximum sentence. I would also ask that you weigh the loss of contact and pain it would cause his two remaining sons and wife, stepchildren , grandchildren, and close friends should the severity of his sentence fall onto the heavy side of your gavel.

I believe that he should be accountable for his actions, "intent" or actual. I only ask that you take into account all the positive things that he has accomplished during his life and all the love he has provided and love yet to give to his family, friends, and countless others.

I have been a friend of Richard Altomare for fifteen years. Very close with him and his wife. Knowing him as a friend, club member, husband to his wife, father to well raised sons, two stepchildren, grandfather and family man. We have played golf together and traveled.

Richard has honorably served in the military marine corp. Served as choirboy, teacher and sports coach with our youth. I believe he has been active in public affairs and served as a temporary prison warden during a jail strike on Long Island .

Richard was raised strictly by immigrant parents who worked as a janitor of buildings in Brooklyn and at the same time held second jobs.

Richard has outstanding qualities. He is compassionate, charitable and always ready to give a helping hand to family and fr iends.

Richard would be best served and so would many people, if he is not jailed. I am certain if he is given an opportunity for rehabilitation he will redeem himself without a prison sentence.

Thank you for your considerations,

Dear Judge Dimitrouleas:

Marsha Calderon 1000 Circle Terrace East Delray Beach, FL 33445

My name is Marsha Calderon and I have been Richard Altomare's sister-in-law for the past 18 years. Over these past years I have known Richard to be a loving husband, wonderful father and loving grandfather. Richard has always been there for me emotionally and financially. He has shown me what true caring is about.

Ten years ago I lost my daughter to cancer. In the days before my daughter passed away Richard was there for me comforting me and supporting me through the dark days our family was experiencing. He was the glue that kept us together. I will always be grateful for his kindness although not surprised because that IS Richard.

When I recently moved to Florida, Richard was the one person who encouraged me to make the move. Being in a new State and not knowing too many people, Richard did not let a day go by without checking in to see how I was doing and if I was in need of anything. One day shortly after I moved into my new home, I came back from shopping only to find Richard in front of my house planting bushes and flowers for me. He always makes sure that I have everything that I need to make me comfortable in my new surroundings.

Your Honor, Richard Altomare is a kind, caring and loving person. I am asking you to show Richard leniency and take my words to heart. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

Dear Judge Dimitrouleas,

We have known Richard Altomare for more than twenty years. He has alwaysproven himself to be a trtie friend in every sense of the word. He is a loving andcaring husband, father, and grandfather. We have seen him so many times go outof his way for his family and friends. Richard was there for us in times of seriousneed. He offered to help us in so many ways, by either lending a hand as well asgiving moral support. We don't known what we would have done without hishelp and we know of others who feel the same way. Sometimes, one has "fairweather friends," but Richard has always been there for us, rain or shine. We arevery proud to call him our fr iend.

Dear Judge Dinnitrouleas:

I have thought long and hard about what to say about my husband, Richard Altomare. A word thatkeeps coming to mind is gentleman. From the day that I met him, I knew that I had never met anyonelike him. He was about 46 years old and had already run for Congress and Presiding Supervisor ofNassau County, NY. He had been the general manager of Long lsland's first indoor soccer team, TheNew York Arrows. He is and was dynamic and charismatic. Most of all, he had a unique ability to seethe good in people.

Being a Marine is and was an integral part of Richard's essence. His training and commitment tointegrity and the pursuit of justice is evident in allthat he does. His love for his country is deep and healways wanted to be someone who could make a difference. He was on the committee that helpedestablish the Viet Nam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.

When Richard was the leader of our company he treated all employees with respect and generosity. Asan example, when a new employee refused a piece of chocolate candy because her teeth hurt, Richardsent her to his dentist to repair her teeth at his own expense. There are countless other stories wherehe showed that kind of caring for the people who worked for us. I could go on all day.

He came from very humble beginnings. His father was the janitor of the building he grew up in. Richardcollected allthe garbage in the four story walk-up apartment building every day. He was a devoted son,who never missed a day of calling his parents on the way to work and on the way home. He alwaysmade sure they had everything they needed and tried to make their lives enjoyable. He even wasinstrumental in closing the gap between myself and my own mother before she died.

We moved to Florida because our first grandchildren were born here. During their early school years itwas inevitably Grandpa Buddy who dropped everything to pick up sick children from the nurse's office. He was never too busy to prioritize their needs. In fact, Richard is always there when someone is inneed. That need may only be emotional but he is as steady as the northern star.

Page 18: Actual Letters of Support for RA

Richard has been a big supporter of Camilla's House in Miami for the homeless, St. Jude's Childrens

Research, The Smile Train (letter attached) and other charities. Richard's outlook on life is positive and

inspiring. He is a positive force in society. He and we would not be served well by keeping him locked

up. There are many way we all would benefit if he would be able to contribute. I am asking you to be

lenient in your decision. There are many people who need him in their lives, not the least of which is

me. We are senior citizens who can give much of ourselves to society together.

Let him be free to devote his time to doing good instead of wasting his days fenced in and unable to be a

force that can help people and change things. I read somewhere that to find happiness "you must find

the place where your greatest love meets the world's greatest need." Richard's love is his family and all

the children of the world and his country. Please put him where his love will be able to serve him and

us all. Ask anyone who knows him and t hey will say that Richard is one of the most polite people you

could ever meet. He always treats people in any capacity, with courtesy and respect. Again, that word

comes to mind, a true gentleman.

Respectfully,

~~
