• Open: no proprietary solution and closed systems for the various components. ATVO owns all of the specifications

• Open source technology based

Many benefits for the transport company. For example:

•Independence from the hardware suppliers

•Periodic revamping of the obsolete devices: no proprietary software libraries so porting is straightforward

•Flexibility in arranging the various components for communicating with other on board devices and their eventually proprietary protocol we cannot change

Gradual start: e-ticketing system works side by syde with the old paper tickets system. Step by step the paper tickets are going to disappear

Extensibility to cooperate with external systems (Treviso ACTT and Venice ACTV systems for example)

Even though it is possible to extend the system to other technologies we have implemented two technologies: Mifare

Ultralight (ISO 14443 A) and Calypso (ISO 14443B).

Mifare Ultralight: rechargeable and not multi trip tickets, multiple day tickets, single trip tickets, round trip and time based tickets

Calypso: for season tickets, multiservice systems and interoperability. ISO Env 1545
