Acts 15:32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted (to call near; comfort) the brethren with many words, and confirmed (strengthen;

support further; reestablish) them*. 33 And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles. 34

Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

I can imagine that they needed comfort and support after all the controversy.

Judas went home to Jerusalem, but Silas stayed in Antioch.

The church must never leave the wounded on the

battlefield.

Carry them, if need be.

1 Thessalonians 5 4 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded (fainthearted), support the weak, be patient toward all men.

5

When anyone in the church has been wounded, we need to encourage and comfort that one.

We need to support and help them be established.

Fallen into sin Falsely accused Attacked

As Judas and Silas did, help them get their foot on the Rock and their mind made up.

35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the Word of the Lord, with many others also. 36 And some days after, Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the Word of the Lord, and see how they do.

They had been back home a few months from their first journey.

Now Paul is concerned for the young Christians and new churches.

37 And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark. 38 But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

Acts 13 13 Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.

John Mark was young and perhaps pampered by a wealthy mother.

9

Paul was not willing to depend on him again.

Barnabas wanted to give his nephew another chance.

The Bible doesn't say if one was right and the other wrong.

God used even this quarrel to accomplish His Will.

39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God. 41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

Not everything that happens is for the best.

Romans 8 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

God uses every situationto work good in us.
