Plots  

Exposition:  

-­‐  The  Empress  Dowager  ordered  PuYi  as  the  Emperor.  

-­‐  Eunuchs  to  attend  upon  PuYi.  

-­‐  PuJie,  the  Emperor’s  only  full  brother  had  been  convened  into  the  Forbidden  City.  

-­‐  Chinese  Ink  Incident  (to  prove  himself  as  an  emperor)  

-­‐  The  Wet  Nurse  left  before  the  emperor  had  grown  up.  

Rising  Action:  

-­‐  PuYi  had  grown  up  as  a  teenager,  struggling  to  escape  from  the  palace.  

-­‐  Mr  Johnston,  a  Scottish  tutor  for  the  emperor  came  in.  

-­‐  Escape  twice:  Cycled  to  the  front  door  of  the  palace;  Climbed  onto  the  roof  to  threat  others.  

-­‐  Spectacles  and  Chose  wives,  WanRong  (The  Empress)  and  WenXiu  (Second  Consort)  

-­‐  Some  areas  in  the  palace  was  on  fire,  PuYi  realised  the  eunuchs  were  trying  to  steal  valuables.  

-­‐  Kick  out  most  of  the  eunuchs.  

 

Climax:  

-­‐  Tennis  Scene:  PuYi  and  his  family  were  evicted  from  the  Forbidden  City  by  the  army  of  the  Republic  of  China  

-­‐  Mr  Johnston  left  

-­‐  PuYi  and  his  2  wives  went  to  Europe    

-­‐  Second  Consort  felt  that  she  had  no  status  and  asked  for  a  divorce  

-­‐  The  Spy  came  in  to  take  advantages  of  others  

-­‐  PuYi  requested  help  from  the  Imperial  Japanese  Army  (IJA)  

Falling  Action:  

-­‐  PuYi  crowned  himself  as  an  emperor  with  the  help  of  IJA.  

-­‐  IJA  used  the  trust  of  PuYi  and  exploited  China.  

-­‐  PuYi  lost  his  status  again.  

-­‐  The  Empress  left  after  giving  birth  on  a  child  (euthanasia)  who  was  not  belong  to  PuYi.  

Denouement:  

-­‐  World  War  II  ended  

-­‐  PuYi  was  jailed.  

-­‐  Life  in  jail  

-­‐  Buy  ticket  to  visit  his  former  residence  (Forbidden  City).  

Funny  Parts  s  An  Eunuch  is  checking  on  the  poops  of  PuYi.  

s  The  wet  nurse  is  breast-­‐feeding  PuYi.  

s  WanRong  &  PuYi  are  kissing,  till  their  faces  are  full  with  lipstick’s  stain.  

s  The  Spy  comes  in  and  touches  PuYi  backside.  

s  2nd  coronation  for  PuYi,  the  Spy  kisses  the  ear  of  WanRong.  

s  WanRong  eats  flower  petals  while  she  is  angry  with  PuYi.  

s  The  Spy  comforts  WanRong  and  sucks  her  toes  and  puts  a  ring  on  it.  

Touching  Scenes  s  PuYi  couldn’t  leave  his  palace:  climb  onto  the  roof;  throw  away  his  

pet.  

s  Tennis  scene:  PuYi  shouts  at  his  wives,  commands  them  to  pack  as  they  wanted  to  leave  the  palace  so  much  .  

s  Mr.  Johnston  went  back  to  his  homeland.  

s  PuYi  is  forced  to  sign  the  docs  given  by  the  IJA.  

s  WanRong’s  baby  is  killed,  she  has  been  taken  away,  PuYi  couldn’t  see  her  at  last.  

s  PuYi  is  jailed:  shoelace  incident  

s  When  PuYi  leaves  prison,  he  buys  a  ticket  to  visit  his  old  residence  (the  palace).  

s  PuYi  passes  away.
