1 Talks & Panel Discussions: A CIO Focus meeting on “Storage” was organized on Friday, 4th April 2008. A panel discussion on the topic “Homogeneous versus Heterogeneous Storage Infrastructure” was a part of this programme. A talk on 29 th April 2008 on “Enhance Your IT Skills and Career at Singapore” by Dr. Venkat Ramanathan from the Institute of System Sciences, National University of Singapore was organized for the benefit of student and professionals who would like to enhance their career opportunities. A CIO Focus meeting on “Enterprise Infrastructure” was organized on 21 st May 2008. A panel discussion on the topic “Can CIOs stop paying the IT complexity tax?” was a part of this programme. An open forum meeting on “Work Related Stress” on 5 th Jun 2008. The lead speaker was Dr EA Campbell President, British Psychological Society, Head of Section of Psychological Medicine Division of Community Based Sciences, University of Glasgow Gartnavel Royal Hospital, Glasgow. Others include: Ms. Saundarya Rajesh, Chief Executive, Avtar Career Creators, Prof. E.S. Krishnamoorthy, Director Neurosciences India Group (NSIG), Neurologist & Neuropsychiatrist, Nithya H.M, clinical psychologist, Institute of Neurological Sciences, Voluntary Health Association, and Thadeus Alphonso, clinical social worker. Monthly Technical meeting on the topic “Personal Security and Privacy on the Web” by Dr. Prabhaker Mateti, Associate Professor, Dept. of CSE, Wright State University, Ohia, USA was organized on 19 th Jul 2008. A CIO Focus meeting on “Security” was organized on 23 rd Jul 2008. A panel discussion on the topic “Which is more essential — compliance, security or operability?” was a part of this programme. Presentation on “IT Governance” by Mr. N.S.N. Pillai, Head – Risk Management & Information Security at Ashok Leyland and the President of ISACA, Chennai Chapter on 8 th Aug 2008. Presentation on “Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT), an IT governance framework” by Mr. R. Vittal Raj, Chartered Accountant & Director Certification, ISACA Chennai Chapter on 8 th Aug 2008. A presentation on IPTV – Internet Protocol Television by Mr. A. Ganesan, Past Chairman IETE & Dy. General Manager, BSNL (Retd.). was organized on 30 th Aug 2008. A one day workshop on the theme “All Round Testing: State of ART in Software Testing” was jointly organized at Chennai on 22 nd Feb 2008 to highlight the growing importance of testing and to provide a unique platform to address the multi-dimensional aspects of Software Testing spanning management commitment, process innovation, advances in technology and Human Resources implications. Conferences / Seminars: A national conference on Education & Research (ConfER - 2008) with the theme “ICT as the key Enabler for Innovation and Growth” was organized during 27-29 March 2008 by the School of Computing Sciences, VIT University, Vellore. A national conference on “VLSI, Embedded Systems and Signal Processing (NCVESCOM’08)” during 8-9, May 2008 was organised in association with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Vinayaka Missions University. IEEE Computer Society, Madras Chapter is pleased report that a total of 44 events were organized during the year 2008. It collaborated with Computer Society of India, IEEE Madras Section, IEEE PES, IEEE TMC, IEEE COMSOC, IEEE PELS, CICC Singapore, CIO Magazine, CNBC-TV18, Biztech2.com, DELNET and a no. of host institutions (universities and engineering and arts & science colleges) and companies in organizing these events. All the events were well attended and appreciated by the participants.

A national level technical symposium, “Resonance ‘08” wasorganized during 4th & 5th of March 2008 at VIT University, Vellore.Resonance’08 hosted 16 events covering every branch of theengineering sciences, from robotics to mechanical sciences, fromartificial intelligence to a virtual maze.

A one day seminar on “Software Engineering Process Models”was organized at Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Chennaion 11th Sep 2008. Mr. Mohan Sidhan, CEO, Vyosoft SolutionsPvt Ltd was the presenter.
