ACTIVE TWENTY-THIRTIAN I’ve been a mortgage professional for 16 years. My favorite part of the job, is telling someone that thought they could never own a home, “They’re approved” or “We’re cleared to close”. Helping other’s has always been my passion. What better way than to help others fulfil the “American Dream” of home ownership. My advice to someone starting out... Treat the janitor just like the CEO. It doesn’t matter the client or the loan amount. I put in the same effort and get the job done!!! I farm kiwi and walnuts in the live oak area. We have been farming kiwi and walnuts for over 30 years. I’m directly involved in every aspect of the farm. My favorite part of the job would be that I help put food on tables for people and have met so many people throughout a variety of industries. ACTIVETWENTY-THIRTIAN

I’ve been a mortgage professional for 16 years.

Best advice I could give to someone getting into the industry is to be knowledgeable of the commodity you are interested in. It is a very rewarding career but can be stressful as well. will be lost.

Professional Development is a huge part of Active 20-30, so we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of our members and their careers.

My Fellow Activians,

It is with great honor and gratitude that I write my first letter as National President for the 2019-2020 term. I joined the Greater Folsom #77 club out of a need to serve my community - particularly under-served children as I also grew up in similar circumstances. Since then, I served as President of my club, Region 4 Director, and a member of several National Committees.Professionally, I work in non-profit management for the Yolo County Children’s Alliance managing multiple initiatives for our organization including a health policy initiative for several statewide coalitions. I also represent our organization on multiple Yolo County Coalitions, Committees, and boards. Personally, I love nature, yoga, meditation, and anything cerebral. However, I’m a huge fan of reality TV which is a total guilty pleasure! My two absolute favorites are The Real Housewives franchise and RuPaul Drag Race.

When I was installed as National President, I set out to follow through with the on-going work plan implemented by my predecessor, strengthen internal and external communication as well as explore multiple streams of income for the organization - which would then leverage the day to day expense of running a National Corporation. The on-going project from last term is the marketing project which is currently in phase one with a complete written report for implementation due to be presented at the National/International Midterm hosted by Santa Rosa #50. The Board and Committee Chairs are also working on updating our Policies and Procedures to reflect our Bylaws, data collection for fundraising, a new website, as well as updating the Awards packet, New Charter Manual and the application process for the Growth and Retention grant. The new project that is currently in development is the National Fundraising Project - Team Taylor. Club Delegates at our Annual General Meeting of the Membership voted on June 22, 2019 to stand with Team Taylor in a fight to end Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Every year, over 3,500 babies are affected by SIDS, and currently, there is no cure. Active 20-30 and Team Taylor believes that every child should live to see their first birthday. We are excited to join Team Taylor to #EndSids

I am very grateful to our Board, Committee Chairs, and Committee members who have dedicated their time, energy, and resources to leading the work of the organization while building upon the legacy of our predecessors. As we look to the future towards our centennial, I want each of us to think about our individual and collective impact - not just locally but Nationally and Internationally. If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together. This African proverbs sums up the legacy of our organization on every level of implementation. It took teamwork, collaboration, support, and collective impact to not only build our local clubs, but also the National and International Organizations. I hope we can all join together in creating the blueprint for the next 100 years.

Yours in service, Jeneba “Yogi” Lahai

Past Active Life SpotlightMeet Vanessa Norgauer!

Being Past Active Life is quite an honor and we want to take the time to highlight those who have achieved this goal! Vanessa was part of Gold Rush #1034 and Active for 15 years! Truly, she is the definition of dedication to the club. Learn a bit more about her in the list below:

Vanessa is a Commercial Property Manager and was once a foreign exchange student at 16 in Denmark!

She held many different positions during her time in the club which include: Director, Treasurer, VP, President, Immediate Past President, Event Chair for Child Spree!

She was also active on the National Level and held several postions there: Treasurer, Awards Chair, and National Officer RFP Commitee

She initially joined as a way to network among other young professionals. She stayed because she loved seeeing the results of helping kids in her community.

Her favorite event was the Child Spree, which is unsurprising given that she chaired that even 8 times!

A large part of Active 20-30 is visiting other clubs and going to different events! Her favorite event outside of her own club was Greater Sac’s Monte Carlo Event.

If you know someone that should be highlighed in this section please let us know! You can contact Cameron Stacy or Rachel Mason to get your members highlighted, including Past Active Life of course!

Rachel Mason Chico #100 - Region 2 Director, [email protected]

I hope to continue the engagement of the clubs in my Region at the National Level, as I think this has helped us grow stronger over the past couple years. I’m excited for the Region 2 Campout in October, and another Pacific Northwest Road Trip in the Spring - email me if you want to join. Finally on the National Level, I hope to work with the Board in revamping the Policies and Procedures, as they haven’t been updated in a while and need some work!

Wayne Ingrahm Santa Rosa #50 - Region 5 Director

My goals for the 2019-2020 year as a District Governor are to provide resources for my presidents (e.g., dry erase checks, design help), access to historical data for their club (e.g., currently at 500 clippings of past 20-30 newspaper articles), a long list of ideas that could better the organization that I have curated over time, encourage more visitations between clubs to help bridge gaps, build bonds and have clubs learn from each other’s successes/failures, and most importantly, help lead by example.

April West Hangtown #43 - Region 4 Director, [email protected]

Support Clubs in Region 4. See Carson City charter. Host at least two EndSIDS runs. Learn some new dirty jokes.

Abbey Kronenberg Valley of the Sun #1028 - Region 3 Director, [email protected]

As I enter my second term as Region 3 Director, I have strong hopes and visions of a more united Region. Our clubs have come together over the past few years and even more so in the last one which has been exciting to see. We have even welcomed in the former Region 1 clubs with open arms into our Region and are excited to have another convention held in our region, National Convention 2020 in Tucson. My goals for this upcoming term are to continue my groundwork from last term and to make personal connections with my clubs and members during visitations throughout the Region. Our Region holds strong numbers in membership and also in our fundraising efforts so a goal of mine is to work to with my clubs on sharing their stories with clubs on a national level. No matter a clubs’ size or amount of money they raise, we all can learn from one another and have similar successes as well as struggles. I aim to get members from clubs around my Region involved on a National level and to attend conventions (both Midterm and National). Also, by having members join national committees and further their involvement, we can engage and show the value added by being a united National Active 20-30 organization. Our reach is vast, our passion is immeasurable and combine that with the progress our organization is making on the local and national levels, we can become the powerhouse that Active 20-30 once was, spanning from coast to coast.

Jeff Okrepkie Santa Rosa # 50 - Immediate Past President, [email protected]

My goals for this term are to continue the work that has been happening over the last two years. The groundwork has been laid for outstanding growth and value to be built within the national organization. I have not been this optimistic of the future of the national organization since I have been involved nationally over the last 6 years. Additionally, I plan to work with the foundation board to position the National Foundation to raise funds through grants.

Meet the National Board

Lisa Kowalewski Redding #143 - National Secretary, [email protected]

I am very excited to have this opportunity to serve as National Secretary. This term my goal is to take accurate minutes and distribute them in a timely manner, in addition to learning all I can about the Active 20-30 club. I’ve been a member since 2013 but this is my first time really participating at the national level. I plan to report back to my club monthly about what is happening nationally and internationally, and will encourage more Redding members to get involved at the national level.

Phillip Moller Red Bluff #455 - National Treasurer, [email protected]

I would like to first open with a huge shout out to Jaci Mcaleer, she did a great job as the treasurer last fiscal year and has provided great advice that set me up for success. My main goal is to furthering the mission, vision, and values of our organization. Plan to accomplish this by presenting accurate annual and monthly reports on the club’s finances to our board, and committee members as the liaison to the National Office. It is my honor to serve the Active 20-30 Club, if you have any questions related to our finances please do not hesitate to reach out.

Mike Kingsley Eugene #920 - International Relations Officer, [email protected]

My goal for this term is to help better connect all 20-30 members. Even in my club I see a disconnect sometimes between people who travel and those who don’t. I want to help encourage people not just to travel, but to be involved and be able to get even more out of 20-30. I think we have an amazing board right now and, and I want to help members experience everything National and International offers members in our organization. I think the memories and connections made at other club’s events and conventions, last a life time and I would love to assist in making that happen for all.

Hello Everyone, It is such an honor to be serving as your National President Elect for the 2019/2020 term. Here are some of my goals for the 2019/2020 term:• Oversee the RFP Marketing Committee and complete our National Marketing campaign.• Visit as many clubs as possible through events, phone call, social media or Facetime.• Try and find new ways for us to bring in more national revenue. • Work on the putting together my committee and budget for the 2020/2021 term.It has been such a pleasure meeting so many new members. I want to hear from you. I know so many of you have great ideas and I want to hear them. So please feel free to reach out anytime.
