I’m sure you all already know about the active and passive voice. But, this time I will explain about it once again. You know I’m still a beginner in English. So, if there is a mistake I beg to chide me, please.

I’ll begin my presentation. So, please keep your attention to me.

Active Voice is a feature of sentences in which the subject performs the action of the verb and the direct object is the goal or the recipient.

You can make an active sentence with formula. The formula is [Subject] + [Verb] + [Object]

These are some examples show that the subject is doing the verb’s action :The man must have eaten five hamburgers.= The man (subject) is doing the eating (verb)Marilyn mailed the letter.= Marilyn (subject) is doing the mailing (verb)

Now, it’s passive voice turn.

Passive Voice is a feature of sentences in which the object or goal of the action function as the sentence subject and the main verb phrase include the verb to be and the past participle.

The formula to know how to make passive sentence is [Thing receiving action] + [be] + [past participle of verb] + [by] + [thing doing action]

For example is :Five hamburgers must have been eaten by the man.= Hamburgers (subject) are being eaten (verb)The letter was mailed by Marilyn.= The letter (subject) was being mailed (verb)

Then, how to change a sentence from active to passive voice?

To change a sentence from active to passive voice, do the following:

    1. The first is to move  the active sentence's direct object into the sentence's subject  slot

             

    2. Then, place the active sentence's subject into a  phrase beginning with the preposition by

             

    3.  And the last one, add a form of the auxiliary verb be to the main verb and change the  main verb's form

             

Now, to change a passive voice sentence into an active voice sentence, simply reverse the steps shown above.

    1.  First, move  the passive sentence's subject into the active  sentence's  direct object slot

            

    2.  Next, remove  the auxiliary verb be from the main verb and change main verb's form if needed

            

    3. Last, place the passive sentence's object of the preposition by into the subject slot.
