Tablet Management Tips

The Take Charge Today Educator Team members recommend the following tips to help you manage multiple tablets in your classroom: Managing Tablets in the Classroom

Give each tablet a number. Put the number on the back of the tablet and also make the number the desktop background.

If purchasing apps, buy a pre‐loaded gift card from the applicable app store. This gift card may be used with multiple tablets.

Use a locking cabinet to store tablets.

iPhone apps can also be used on an iPod Touch. Using Tablets for Instruction

Recognize that participants will need an introduction of how to use the tablet for education vs. playing. Reinforce from the beginning that the tablet is an educational tool.

If you have limited tablets, teach one small group or one participant and then have those participants teach the next group.

Purchase a VGA connector compatible to your tablet to connect it to a projector.

If using Apple, purchase Apple TV to project your tablet to a screen.

Managing Participant Work

Have a wireless printer connected to the tablets to easily print participant work.

Create an email account to only use with tablets so that participant work can be mailed or stored.

Dropbox is an application that is available for GooglePlay and Apple. Create a separate Dropbox account for the tablets so items can be shared and stored without interfering with personal items, this also allows a safe place to put Take Charge Today Power Points and Information Sheets for participants.

o SugarSync and Google Drive are alternatives to Dropbox.

Ask participants to delete any items that they don’t want to be accessed at the end of class. Finding and Using Applications

When planning to use an app, install a day or two prior to use. Many of the apps are rapidly changing, the functionality or pricing may change, and they may become unavailable.

Evernote Peek

Simply peek under the cover to prepare for a quiz, practice

a language or strengthen your memory.

In Evernote, either choose an existing notebook or make a

new one to use with Peek. The note title will become the

clue and the note body will become the answer. For best

results, keep the clue to one sentence and the answer to

around three sentence.

If you have a smart cover for your iPad, the flashcards become even more interactive

FlashCards+

You can create flashcards either on your computer or

directly within the app. If you don't want to make your

own, you can browse and download flashcards from

Quizlet.com and FlashcardExchange.com.

Participants review while creating the cards and then the cards can be used for review

iFlashcards free

iFlashCards allows you to build unlimited databases of

questions that you can test yourself one. Flashcards may

paths, as well as make choices on housing and careers. At the

end of the activity a “game of life journal” is created.
