Instructions for connecting Blackberry hand-held devices to Aliant Hosted Exchange
Blackberry 7750 or 6750, Handheld Version 3.7188 or 3.6, Desktop Manager Version 3.6 (Over-the-air email and calendar synchronization, cradled contacts, notes, and tasks synchronization)
1. Verify the configuration of Outlook on the PC is set to connect to your Aliant Hosted Exchange service
2. Install or reinstall Blackberry Desktop Manager on the PC
• Double-click the Blackberry Desktop Installation executable which will start the installation process.
• Choose your language. Click Ok.

• The InstallShield Wizard will start. Click Next.
• Select your country. Click Next.

• Revise the License Agreement and click Yes.
• Enter your username and company name. Click Next.

• Select “Blackberry Enterprise Server or Blackberry Desktop Redirector”. Click Next.
• Select Microsoft Exchange. Click Next.

• Select “Redirect email using the Blackberry Enterprise Server”. Click Next.
• Choose the destination folder as follows. Click Next.

• Select a folder to save your program. Click Next.
• Select “Anyone who uses this computer (all users) and keep the two additional shortcuts checked. Click Next.

• Wait while the software is being installed.

• The setup is complete. Make your selections and click Finish.
3. Start the Desktop Manager • If prompted, choose the profile of the Aliant Hosted Exchange Service. Click Ok.
• Enter username and password. Click Ok.

• If it is a first time installation, this message will appear. Click Ok.
• Select Options and then Configure the Connection Settings.
• Select your connection port, either USB or a com port. Click Ok.
4. Plug the Blackberry USB or serial cradle into the PC
5. Turn on the Blackberry and insert it into the cradle • If this is the first time, the PC will install the drivers for the new hardware. • You may be asked to generate a new encryption key, if so click Ok.

• Move the mouse as requested and the new key will be created.
• The PIN is now shown in the Blackberry Desktop Manager
6. Double-click Redirector Settings to verify settings
The default settings are usually correct, click Ok to return to the Desktop Manager.

7. Double-click Intellisync to verify settings
• To synchronize the Calendar using Blackberry Wireless Sync.

• Select Calendar and click Choose

• Select Blackberry Wireless Sync and click OK
• Click OK to close the Handheld Configuration

• Ensure the three options below are checked and click Synchronize now
• The Intellisync process will update the handheld

• When it is complete, click Close on the Intellisync window
You can now remove your Blackberry from the cradle – it is ready to use.

Blackberry (7130e, 7250, 8703e, 8830, Pearl)
1. Connecting Blackberry to Aliant Hosted Exchange On the Blackberry, select enterprise activation (top left icon). On some models, you may have to select Options -> Advanced Options.
Enter the username and password provided to you.
Select Activate

The following will appear. It may take up to 30 minutes for the activation to complete.

2. Set the proper time zone. • Select options
• Select Date/Time
• On Time Zone, click change option

• Select Save
Wireless synchronization is enabled by default: your Blackberry is ready to be used.
