CHRISTIANITY IS ALL ABOUT A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Virtually all problems in life are due to lack of relationship with God, which causes a person to seek happiness in others and blame others when they do not make them happy---this is especially true in marriage.

    SALVATION

Ephesians 1:13-14 In Him, you also, after listening () to the message of truth ( ), the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed ( ), you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.

Nature of Ephesians: sit (1-3), walk (4-5), and stand (6) No commands in 1-3; religion says do, but Christ says done, a gift! No merit in listening or believing. Simply believing gains eternal life and the HS of promise---just believe! The nature of the sealing ministry of the HS, Eph 4:30 No place for Lordship salvation (as per Mac Arthur and thousands who

are enslaved in legalism, always looking inward, Eph 4:30) Lordship sanctification is critical

Psalm 34:1 A Psalm of David when he feigned madness before Abimelech, who drove him away and he departed. I Will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear it and rejoice. 3 O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. 4 I sought the LORD, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces shall never be ashamed. 6 This poor man cried and the LORD heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them. 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! 9 O fear the LORD, you His saints; For to those who fear Him, there is no want. 10 The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing. 11 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. . . . 15 The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against evildoers, To cut off the memory of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted, And saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous; But the LORD delivers him out of them all. 20 He keeps all his bones; Not one of them is broken. . . . 22 The LORD redeems the soul of His servants; And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

Davids Personal Love for Yahweh, Pre-incarnate Christ as Supreme Goodness

Ephesians 1:3-14, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world , that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, 8 which He lavished upon us. In all wisdom and insight 9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him 10 with a view to an administration suitable to the fulness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things upon the earth. In Him 11 also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, 12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is given as a pledge [down payment] of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.

The Apostle Pauls Personal Love/Praise for the Triune God as Supreme Goodness

  • Wednesday, Dec 15, 2010 6

    1. God is love, 1 Jn 4:7-8, 16. 2. The love of God is the motivation behind all of His grace. His willingness 3. Gods love for and fellowship with each member of the Trinity. 4. Because man is imago Dei ( ), God desires to have fellowship

with him. We see this with Adam and with the expansion of His desire to fellowship with the rest of the human race throughout the Word of God, culminating in the life of JC as the Second Person moves outside of Trinity.

    5. Jesus Christ came to earth to seek fellowship with lost man, Lk 19:10. In the Church, Christ finds the most intimate of fellowship with man, cf. HS in CA & Great Wedding Feast in the Millennium.

    6. Because man is imago Dei, he is capable of having fellowship with each member of the Trinity and loving and serving God.

    7. It was Gods great love for man that motivated Christ to come and restore mans fellowship to God. This redemptive love is what is driving the central purpose of God throughout the Scriptures.

    8. The ultimate goal of all Scripture and all of life is to love God, Mt 22:36-37. 9. The second great commandment, to love your neighbor, is inextricably tied up in the imago Dei. It is the imago Dei in all men that gives intrinsic value to all and enables us to love as God loves.

10.God loved us first, and our ability to reciprocate with true love is only

possible by first appreciating His love for us.

1 John 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

    2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died;

Gal 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.

Eph 3:19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fulness of God.

    11. Capacity to praise God is based on personal love and appreciation for who and what He is and what He has done for us, Psa 34; Eph 1:3-14.

    12. Love for God motivates the believer to love as God. God puts a high value on imago Dei, and He is involved in every life. Gods love for the unlovable motivates us to love the unlovable too---not just tolerate them or grace them out, but to prize them as human beings made in the image of God. Of course, there is no problem in loving those who are like you---or like you.

    13. Loving God means treasuring His commandments John 14:15 "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

    14. Among His commands are those related to defending Him and the truths of Christianity----i.e. by doing apologetics in a hostile kosmos:

1 Pt 3:15 Titus 1:10-11 Jude 3 Jesus Christ, Mt 22:23-34; Lk 20:26; Apostle Paul, Acts 15:2; 17:2-4; 18:4 , 19; 19:8-10; Evidence for Christianity is powerful: rooted in history,

supported by science, history, and philosophy We naturally defend what we love and consider precious
