Acronis True Image 2020 Mobile Backup Testing Guide

Overview A mobile backup protects the data on your mobile device and provides the opportunity to recover it in case of corruption or loss. You can also use mobile backup to transfer the data and settings from your old smartphone to a new one, including photos, videos, calendars, contacts, reminders (on iOS only) and messages (on Android only).

Installation Find the “Acronis True Image: Mobile” in the App Store or Google Play app on your device depending on the operating system on your mobile device (iOS or Android). Follow the common installation steps for apps on your device. You can find the app on your device in apps menu with title “Acronis Mobile”.

NOTE: Make sure that you have installed app for consumers “Acronis True Image: Mobile”, not the app for businesses “Acronis Backup”.

Back up to computer (PC or Mac) Find the “Acronis Mobile” app on your device in the app menu and follow the next steps:

1. Launch the “Acronis Mobile” app on your device.

2. If you start the app for the first time, tap on “Continue” on the welcome screen.

3. For setting up a backup of your mobile device, tap on “Set up”.

4. Select “Computer” as a destination

for the backup.


5. You will see a short three-step guide with instructions. Make sure that you have installed

Acronis True Image on your computer. You need to Add backup and select “Mobile devices” as a source.

6. Tap on “Scan QR code” and aim mobile device camera on the QR code displayed by Acronis True Image on computer. Your mobile device will pair with your computer.

7. When the scan of the QR code is completed, you will see data categories to back up from

your mobile device.


8. Tap on “Back up” for starting data backing up. On this step, you have to provide permissions

for data categories to back up.

9. After completing a backup, you can see the information about the mobile device backup in

Acronis True Image interface and recover files using if needed.


Back up to the Acronis Cloud

1. Launch the “Acronis Mobile” app on your device. 2. For setting up a backup of your mobile device, tap on “Set up”.

3. Select “Acronis Cloud” as a destination for the backup.


4. Create an Acronis account or sign in with an existing.

5. After authorization, you will see data categories to back up from your mobile device. 6. Tap on “Back up”. On this step, you have to provide permissions for data categories to back

up.


7. Once the backup is complete, you can browse the mobile device backup (and backups of other

mobile devices and computers) from the “Browse” menu in the app or via the Online Dashboard at https://trueimage.acronis.com.

8. You can also recover one or more items from the backup by selecting “Browse” app menu.

Back up to NAS

Automatically back up mobile devices to network-attached storage (NAS), as well as local Mac or PC, using the local Wi-Fi connection. NAS can be left on all the time, so users won’t miss backing up their mobile device – the process starts as soon as the device connects to the same Wi-Fi network.

Follow the next steps for backing up your mobile device to NAS:

1. Install and open the “Acronis Mobile” application.


2. For setting up a backup of your mobile device, tap on “Set up”.

3. Select “NAS” as a destination for the backup.


4. You will see a short three-step guide with instructions.

5. Install the “Acronis True Image” app to the NAS from the vendor app store. 6. Connect the mobile device to the NAS by scanning the QR code.

7. Start backup to NAS. 8. Files from the backup can be browsed on mobile and restored directly from NAS over the

Wi-Fi network.
