The ACO Building Drainage Modular 125 stainlesssteel linear drainage system is a further developmentof the highly successful Modular Channel system.

Taking full advantage of the significant investment instate-of-the-art manufacturing plant, ACO BuildingDrainage now can offer an improved performance, fully flexible stainless steel drainage system suitablefor most applications – off the shelf.

Modular 125 offers the first choice for performanceand flexibility. Significant improvements include:

Fully tested and classified to BS EN 1433 –Drainage channels for vehicular and pedestrian areasfor enhanced operational confidence.

Vee-bottomed profiled channel for enhanced flowefficiency at low flow rates.

Extended range of constant depth and slopinginvert channels and accessories.

Unique optional grating security locks availablewithout extended delivery time penalty.

Lightweight channel sections minimise the risk toconstruction employees during the installation phase.

Wide variety of invert depths and channel falls tosuit most applications.

Manufactured in corrosion resistant 304 gradeaustenitic stainless steel that is fully pickle passivatedto remove embedded iron and chromium-depletedweld-zones, outstanding performance and longevity isassured.

For particularlychemicallyaggressiveapplications,Modular 125 isavailable in 316grade stainlesssteel to specialorder.

The enhancedcorrosionresistance andextreme durabilityof stainless steelsmake the material

suitable for many applications demanding a reliable,long-life performance.

One key attribute of stainless steel is oftenoverlooked in that the raw material is manufacturedfrom at least 70% of recycled materials, thereforesignificantly contributing to a sustainable environment.

Additionally, stainless steel can be 100% recycled ifthe products are ever removed or at the end of itsworking life.

SPECIFICATION AND ORDERING PROCEDURE

Ordering the Modular channel system

With the wide range of products available off-the-shelf,specifying and ordering the Modular 125 systemcould not be easier. The following procedureaddresses product selection and ensures that allaspects of the system are covered. Should you wish,ACO Building Drainage can provide a take-off servicebased on your plan details.

Modular system customisation

Sometimes it is necessary to shorten a channel andgrating, or provide an outlet or inlet beyond thosepositions available in our standard product range, all ofwhich is easily accommodated in our flexiblemanufacturing facilities.

Contact the ACO Building Drainage Helpline on 01462816666 for further details and advice.

Load considerations: 15

Outline plan 6-7 Produce a plan of theproposed installation, identifying outletpoints and invertdepths at that point.

ACO offer a free, noobligation hydrauliccalculation servicewhich can optimisechannel depths for agiven capacityrequirement.

Built-in fall (slopinginvert) channelsprovide a degree ofself-cleansing andshould be used wherepossible. However, level invert or flatchannels can functionhydraulically whereconstruction depth isrestricted.

Selecting an outlet 16-22 Select an outlet withan appropriate flowrate which meets anyinvert restrictions.Horizontal outletsoffer shallower outletpoints but are not asefficient hydraulically.

As an outlet will be atthe lowest part of thesystem, select thedeepest possibleinvert to allow for fallsin channels connectedto it.

Consider bothmaintenance facilitiesand aestheticconsiderations.

Page Description Helpful HintsGeneralConsiderations

Select appropriategrating Load Class toBS EN 1433 for theparticular application.

For Load Class C250,channel edge PVC infillwill be supplied asstandard.

Always allow for thehighest loading.Particularly forindustrial applicationswhere pallet trucksand fork lift trucksmay access thesystem, assess vehiclewheel loads as thesecan vary dependingon the vehicle.

Consider future usewhere possible.

Vehicles with solidtyres impart greaterstress on gratingscompared topneumatic tyres, socare needed.

Do not use 'slipresistant' gratings inareas where turningvehicles are likely todamage the grating.

Page Guide Helpful hintsGeneralconsiderations

Adding channels 23-25 Start at the outletposition and work backadding channels asappropriate. Wherecombined falls orsloping falls arerequired, ensure thereis a logical fall to theoutlet where thedeepest channelsections are positioned.

Using longer lengthchannels saves cost, minimises joints andreduces installationtime.

Shortening built-in fallchannels is possibleonly at the start of arun. To adjust a built-infall mid-run, it isnecessary to introducea level invert channel.

Consider the depthsavailable in cornersand branch unitswhich, if a built in fallis required, should bea shallower invertthan the outlet.

Increased run lengthscan be effected byintroducing levelchannels within a runof built in fallchannels.

End plates 26 Terminate the systemwith end platescorresponding to thechannel depth at thatlocation.

Channel edge accessories

26-27 Select an edge detailappropriate for theLoad Class andflooring finish.

PVC infill provides alow cost option forimproving overallchannel durability, particularly intrafficked areas.

Vinyl / flexible sheetflooring can beseamlessly ‘welded’ toACO Building DrainageVinyl Seal®.

Gratings 28-33 Select correct LoadClass for theapplication.

Do not use slip resistantgratings where vehiclesare likely to turn on thegrate.

Consider gratingavailability for bothchannel and gully.

Security lockings canbe added at extra costto all gratings.

Additional lead timemay be required.

For bare foot areasconsider Heelsafe,Quadrato, Intercept orplastic grating styles.

LOAD CLASS

Unfortunately, for historical, application variances andmaterial specific applications, there is not one standardwith universal Load Class criteria that covers all buildingproducts and applications - which can be quite confusingfor the specifier.

ACO Building Drainage consciously decided to developthe Modular 125 channel system to conform toappropriate European standards in order to provide thespecifier with confidence to specify products that willoffer known reliable performance criteria.

The Modular channel system has been tested inaccordance with BS EN 14331 and complementary gullysystems to BS EN 12532.

Because the generalnature of the twotypes of product isdifferent for manyapplications, the LoadClass criteriadescribed in bothstandards aredifferent. However, inthe table below apractical approximatecomparison is provided to aid the specifier selectproducts appropriate to the application.

Installation Guidelines

GULLY AND CHANNEL INSTALLATION

Step 1 Base Preparation

Prepare base with 100mm compacted Type 1 fill.

Sept 2 Gully Positioning

Position gully bodies and measure for shuttering andoversite concrete level.

Step 3 Construct Shutters

Construct shutters, position and mark concrete level.Leaving the shutters long allows easy removal afterconcrete pour.

Step 4 Pour Concrete

Pour concrete slab and leave for 24 hours beforeremoving shuttering.

Step 4 (Continued)

Keep pipework clear of loose materials.

Step 5 Re-Position Gully

Position gully(s) and check levels. Keep loosematerials clear of gully.

Basic Instructions – details may vary depending upon application

Page 35: ACO Building Drainage Modular Channel System.pdfThe ACO Building Drainage Modular 125 stainless steel linear drainage system is a further development of the highly successful Modular

35

Installation Guidelines

GULLY AND CHANNEL INSTALLATION

Step 6 Backfill Gullies

Backfill gullies with concrete and float to flange level.

Step 7 DPM

Fit DPM and clamp in flange as appropriate.

Step 8 Channel Assembly

Loose assemble gullies, channel sections and joint gaskets.Leave spacer bars intact until channel has beencompletely installed. Loose assemble gullies, channelsection and joint gaskets in drainage run ensuringcompatibility of adjacent channels, position and level beforefinal tightening of all joints. For Load Class C250 applications, allow 200mm either side and under the channel for concretebackfill support, where this is not possible, seek engineeringadvice. For Load Class A15 and B125 applications, allow fora minimum of 30mm of bedding material and approximately50 – 100mm either side of the channel to allow access to

levelling feet, fixing ties and flange plates. Prior to beddingand haunching, check joints and traps for water tightness.

Step 8 Form Levelling Screed Shuttering

Taking into account finished floor materials and thickness(sharp sand, paviors, tiles, vinyl etc) construct shuttering forthe levelling screed. Pour screed and remove shuttering.

Weigh the channels down when back filling the trench toprevent the channels from lifting or floating. Fully extend andtwist channel fixing ties to provide a good anchorage. Poursuitable cement or resin mortar around the channel. Themortar should be of a type and consistency to ensure therecan be a good compaction of this material both under thechannel base and particularly under the channel edge.

The bed and surround must have sufficient strength tosupport the channel in service. For light and medium dutyapplications up to Load Class C250, a suitable mortar ofStrength Class C20/25 to BS EN 206-1 with a maximumaggregate size of 10mm should be used.

Where it is not possible to provide the depth of surround asprescribed in Step 2, a suitable mortar of Strength Class atleast C30/37 to BS EN 206-1 with a maximum aggregatesize of 10mm may be used to support the channel followingengineering advice.

Step 8 (continued)

Remove immediately from the inside surfaces of the channel(or gully) any mortar or concrete spillage.

For channels with vinyl edge detail, refer to pages 37-38.

Page 36: ACO Building Drainage Modular Channel System.pdfThe ACO Building Drainage Modular 125 stainless steel linear drainage system is a further development of the highly successful Modular

36

Installation Guidelines

CHANNEL INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Step 9a – Block Pavior Finish

Prepare screed base working mix under channel andgully top flange and lay block paviors on 300mm wideepoxy surround to prevent movement. Set paviors3mm maximum above channel edge. Completepaviors on compacted sharp sand bed.

Step 9b – Tile Finish

Prepare haunching on screed base working mix underchannel and gully top flange. Lay levelling screed andlay tiles in cement bedding.

Step 9c – Flexible Sheet Finish

Fit the ACO Vinyl Seal® rigid extrusion and flexibleseal system to channel and gully edge as describedon pages 37-38. Prepare haunching

Step 10 – Sealing

A mastic sealant should be provided between theedge of the channel and floor typically 8 – 10mmwide and 10 – 15mm deep.

In some cases it may be necessary to apply a suitableprimer to the stainless steel before applying thesealant. The sealant manufacturers’ advice should besought for each individual application.

Step 11 – Grating Installation

Spacing bars with the channel are provided to givestiffness and rigidity during manufacture, site handlingand installation. They also prevent closure of thegrating aperture during the concreting phase ofinstallation.

These bars should be left in position until immediatelybefore the gratings are inserted in place. The spacerbars may be removed by striking them with a sharphorizontal blow with a mallet.

Step 12 – Cleaning

Remove all protective tape from the channel edge andclean the surface with a solvent if necessary toremove any adhesive residue.

Wash and clean the channel, empty the silt basket andrefit the gratings.

Cutting and Welding On-siteIt is not easy to work with stainless steel on site, asthe material is particularly hard and special cuttingequipment is needed. Similarly if stainless steel iswelded on site then care should be taken to ensurethat all welded surfaces are properly finished either byhand, or with an acid finishing.

It may not be possible to achieve a uniform surface appearance or guarantee full passivation of the weld in these circumstances. Hence finishingunder factory conditions will be far superior in this respect.

ACO BUILDING DRAINAGE VINYL SEAL®

Sealing Vinyl Sheet Flooring to

Drainage Channels and GulliesVinyl sheet is a common flooring finish in many of theareas where stainless steel drainage channels andgullies are required. Previously the standard methodof jointing the two was by a mechanical clampingsystem.

Although functional, this mechanical clampingmechanism can be cumbersome to fit and increasethe potential areas for bacterial growth.

In order to overcome the frequently encounteredproblems of achieving watertight and bacteria freeseals, ACO have developed the ACO Building DrainageVinyl Seal® a unique solution that will enable quick, easy and economical installation. ACO BuildingDrainage Vinyl Seal® provides a completely watertightand bacteria free seal.

This method of sealing requires no additional tools orskills other than those required for the professionalfitting of vinyl sheet flooring, making the installationquick, easy and economical.

The seal is significantly more cost effective than thetraditional mechanical type and is designed to fit ACOBuilding Drainage stainless steel drainage channels.

Step 1

Remove channelprotective tape priorto fixing extrusion.

Step 2

Cut grey rigidextrusion to suitensuring any mitresare cut accurately otherwise pressure points mayappear in the finished fioor in use.

Step 3

Using Sheet Plier GripWrench supplied, clipthe vinyl seal rigidextrusion tounderside of channel

Step 4

Where there are jointplates in the channelrun cut a notch out ofthe rigid extrusion asshown to enable theextrusion to beclipped to theunderside of the channel.

Step 5

Here you can see therigid extrusion cut tosuit and fitted prior tothe fitting of the blackflexible seal.

Step 6

Insert the blackflexible seal asshown, making surethat the curvedconcave section ofthe seal facesTOWARDS thechannel edge and that the groove in the flexible sealengages with the notch on the rigid extrusion. (It mayhelp to lubricate the flexible seal when inserting usinga water soluble soapy solution).

Step 7

Using the Sheet PlierGrip Wrench, proceedalong the channelinserting the flexibleseal.

Step 8

As can be seen whenfitting around acorner, the flexibleseal may be kept inone piece to minimisejoints.

Step 9

Here you can see therigid extrusion andflexible seal fitted priorto screeding / backfilling.

Step 10

Install the channel into the ground ensuring theflooring screed is flush to the top edge of the rigidextrusion. Protect the channel & seal assembly fromsplashes of concrete or screed.

Step 11

Depending on the installation, additional suitablefixings may be required to secure the rigid extrusionto the floor substrate. If this should be required, separately drill and countersink the rigid extrusionmaking sure all the fixings are finished flush with thetop of the extrusion.

Step 12

Grout any voids at connecting PVC joints and mitredcorners straight joints or fixings to ensure acontinuous fully supported finish.

Step 13

Prior to laying the vinyl sheet flooring, peel theprotective film from the rigid extrusion (a knife may berequired to cut the film adjacent to the flexible seal)and ensure all surfaces are clean and dry.

Step 14

When preparing the vinyl sheet material and floorsurface, apply a compatible adhesive also to the topsurface of the rigid extrusion e.g. Altrofix 19 two partwater resistant eurethane adhesive. taking care not toapply adhesive to the flexible seal. This is to ensurethe vinyl sheet floor is reliably anchored over its fullarea.

Step 15

Lay the sheet flooring against the flexible seal edgeand prepare the welded joint between the flexible sealand vinyl sheet flooring as normal by scoring thesheet/seal joint to approximately half the depth of thesheet flooring thickness .

Either in-colour or black welding filler rod may be usedto weld the joint. Remove surplus weld material fromthe joint using a spatula when the welded joint hascooled.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Although robust, all grades of stainless steel will stainand discolour due to surface deposits and, as such, can never be accepted as completelymaintenance free. In order to achieve maximumcorrosion resistance, the surface of the stainless steelmust be kept clean. Provided the grade of stainlesssteel and the surface finish are correctly selected, andcleaning schedules carried out on a regular basis, excellent performance and long service life areassured.

Factors Affecting MaintenanceSurface contamination and the formation of depositsmust be prevented in order to maintain a durable andhygienic surface.

These deposits may be minute particles of iron or rustfrom other sources used on the building of newpremises and not removed until after the stainlesssteel drainage products have been installed. Wirebrushes and wire wool must not be used to removemarks and cement spillages as this will only serve tointroduce iron impurities to the material surface. Caremust also be taken when storing, erecting or cuttingcarbon steel near to stainless steel.

Industrial and even naturally occurring atmosphericconditions can produce deposits which can be equallycorrosive, e.g. salt deposits from marine conditions.

The working environment can offer more aggressiveconditions, for example the high humidity found inswimming pools increases the speed of discolourationand therefore requires maintenance on a morefrequent basis.

Modern processes use many cleaners, sterilisers and bleaches for hygienic purposes. All theseproprietary solutions, when used in accordance withmakers instructions are safe, but if used incorrectly(e.g.warm or concentrated) can cause discolourationand corrosion on the surface of any quality ofstainless steel.

Strong acid solutions are sometimes used to cleanmasonry and tiling of buildings but they should neverbe permitted to come into contact with metals, including stainless steel. If this should happen the acidsolution must be removed immediately by copiousapplication of water.

Maintenance ProgrammeWith care taken during fabrication and installation, cleaning before handing over to the client shouldpresent no special problems, although more attentionmay be required if the installation period has beenprolonged.

Where surface contamination is suspected, immediateattention to cleaning after site fixing will encourage a trouble free product.

Food and beverage handling, pharmaceutical and chemical industry applications require extremelyhigh levels of cleanliness applicable to each industry.

Advice is often sought concerning the frequency of cleaning stainless steel and the answer is quitesimple: clean the metal when it is dirty in order torestore its original appearance. This may vary fromonce to four times a year for external applications orit may be once a day for an item in hygienic oraggressive situations.

Frequency and cost of cleaning is lower with stainlesssteel than with many other materials, and will often outweigh the initial higher cost of thissuperior product.

Stainless steel is the name given to a wide range ofsteels which have the characteristics of greatlyenhanced corrosion resistance over conventional mildand low alloy steels.

The enhanced corrosion resistance of stainless steelessentially comes from the addition of at least 11%chromium, however most stainless steels commonlyused contain around 18% chromium. Other significantalloying elements include nickel and for superiorcorrosion resistant properties, molybdenum.

For ACO Building Drainage applications, the principalproperties of stainless steel may be summarised asfollows:

Durable and corrosion resistant in highlyaggressive environments.

 Hygienic, easily cleaned surfaces.

 Aesthetically attractive surface finish.

 Good forming and fabrication characteristics.

Excellent strength and resistance tooxidisation at high temperatures.

All of which make stainless steel an obvious firstchoice material for demanding applications.

Stainless Steel FamiliesStainless steel is used across a wide spectrum ofengineering applications and this has led to thedevelopment of the vast range of different types ofstainless steels that are now available. There are fourmain grades of stainless steel:

Austenitic Stainless Steels

This group of stainless steels is the most widely usedand encompasses the generic 304 and 316 grades ofmaterial. These materials are used in the ACO BuildingDrainage manufacturing process and are ideal forapplications including food processing, leisure, dairy, brewing, pharmaceutical, chemical andpetrochemical industries.

304 grade stainless steels contain around 18%chromium and 10% nickel and provides excellentcorrosion resistance. For applications where superiorcorrosion resistance properties are required underextreme conditions particularly where chlorides areinvolved, 316 grade stainless steels are used andcontain around 17% chromium, 12% nickel and 2.2%molybdenum.

Unlike all other grades of stainless steels, austeniticgrades are non-magnetic and as a consequencemagnetic particles are not attracted to the systemsurfaces which otherwise would encourage bothcontamination and corrosion.

Ferritic Stainless Steels

Ferritic stainless steels have inferior corrosionresistance properties compared to austenitic 304 and316 grades and are used in less demandingapplications such as domestic appliance and motorcar trim. This grade of stainless steel is slightly morebrittle when compared to austenitic grades.

Ferritic steels contain between 11.5% and 16.5%chromium and less than 0.5% nickel. This group ofsteels are magnetic and will attract particulates whichcan cause contamination problems. Ferritic steels arenot suitable for drainage products.

Stainless Steel

FAMILIES

Page 42: ACO Building Drainage Modular Channel System.pdfThe ACO Building Drainage Modular 125 stainless steel linear drainage system is a further development of the highly successful Modular

42

Stainless Steel

FAMILIES AND CORROSION RESISTANCE

Martensitic Stainless Steels

Martensitic steels are magnetic and have the higheststrength of the groups of stainless steels, howeverthey also have the poorest corrosion resistance. Theycan be hardened by heat treatment and generally findtheir main application in cutlery manufacture.

Martensitic steels contain around 12.5% chromiumand contain a relatively high carbon content of 0.3%(austenitic and ferritic steels contain around 0.02%and 0.04% carbon respectively).

Martensitic steels’ poor corrosion resistance makethem unsuitable for drainage applications.

Duplex Stainless Steels

Duplex stainless steels have an effectiveaustenitic/ferritic structure and are characterised by good corrosion resistance, high strength and inparticular, good resistance to stress corrosioncracking.

Duplex steels contain around 22% chromium, 5.5%nickel, 3% molybdenum and 0.02% carbon. Thisgroup of steels are magnetic and will attractparticulates which can cause contamination problemsand therefore are unsuitable for drainageapplications.

Stainless Steel Corrosion

ResistanceThe single most important property of stainless steelsand the reason for their existence and widespreaduse, is their natural corrosion resistance. In spite oftheir name, stainless steels can both ‘stain’ andcorrode if used incorrectly.

The reason for the good corrosion properties is due to the formation of a very thin, invisible oxide filmthat forms on the surface of the material in oxidisingenvironments such as the atmosphere and water.

This film is a chromium-rich oxide which protects thesteel from attack in aggressive environments. Aschromium is added to a steel, a rapid reduction in thecorrosion rate is observed because of this protectivefilm. In order to obtain a compact and continuouspassive film, a chromium content of at least 11% isrequired. Passivity increases fairly rapidly withincreasing chromium content up to about 17%chromium.

The most important alloying element is thereforechromium, but a number of other elements includingnickel, molybdenum and nitrogen also contribute tothe corrosion resistance properties of stainless steels.Other alloying elements may also be added toenhance the corrosion resistance in particularenvironments.

Stainless steels must oxidise in order to form thepassive, chromium-rich oxide film. Stainless steelshave a very strong tendency to passivate and only asmall amount of oxidising agents are needed forpassivation - air and water are sufficient to passivatestainless steels and indeed, this oxide film isspontaneously regenerated when exposed to oxygen. An important factor to note is that the passive film isself-healing, so when the material is cut or machinedor, should chemical or mechanical damage occur, thepassive film will ‘heal’ or re-passivate in oxidisingenvironments - unlike a painted finish on mild steel.

Selection of the correct grade of material for eachapplication is an important factor in the designprocess. It is important to note that even 316 gradesof stainless steel are not immune to all kinds ofchemical attack; use with reducing solutions such ashydrochloric and sulphuric acids particularly when inconcentrated and/or hot form, requires carefulconsideration. See corrosion resistance chart onpages 45 and 46.

43

Stainless Steel Finishing

ProcessesA stainless steel finish should appear clean, smoothand faultless. This is obvious when the steel is usedfor such purposes demanding stringent hygiene ordecorative trim applications, but a fine surface finishis also crucial in respect to its corrosion resistantproperties.

The corrosion resistance properties of stainless steelare achieved by the spontaneous formation of a verythin chromium-rich oxide layer over the surface of thematerial. Unfortunately, surface defects andimperfections introduced during the manufacturingprocess may drastically disturb the self healing processof the passive layer and subsequently reduce thecorrosion resistance of the material. In themanufacturing process it is the welding that creates thegreatest challenge to corrosion resistance. All ACOBuilding Drainage products are subjected to specialisedtreatment to ensure the material retains the maximumresistance to corrosion.

Pickle Passivation Plant

ACO resources include the largest pickle passivation plant in Europe

After welding stainless steel, a bluish hightemperature oxide film can be seen which hassubstantially inferior corrosion protection propertiescompared to the original passive layer. Immediatelybeneath this blue oxide film is a thin layer ofchromium depleted metal which makes the metalsurface susceptible to corrosion. Post weld treatmentis, therefore, very important to restore the corrosionprotection properties and is effectively achieved byremoving the blue high temperature oxide film andchromium depleted layer to restore the surface of thematerial. This ‘cleaning’ is essentially a controlledcorrosion process using chemicals, this will restorenot only its original corrosion resistance performancebut also the high quality aesthetics.

The chemical processing methods used in the ACO Building Drainage process are summarised asfollows:

FINISHING PROCESSES

FINISHING PROCESSES

Pickle Passivation

The standard ACO Building Drainage manufacturingprocess uses the pickle passivation chemical finishingprocess to restore the products to their full optimumcorrosion resistant state without damaging the surfacefinish. This is considered the best method for cleaningwelded joints.

Pickle passivation is a two-phase process.

Pickling removes both the bluish high temperatureoxide film and the chromium depleted layer and isachieved by placing the components in a pickling bathcontaining a mixture of nitric acid and hydrofluoricacid.

The second phase is passivation and in many ways issimilar to the pickling process. For this process thecomponents are placed in a bath containing nitric acidonly. This treatment strengthens the passive layer andalso removes any iron impurities that may havebecome embedded in the surface of the stainless steel during the manufacturingprocess.

This treatment is important where mechanical cleaningof the components has taken place with the use ofwire brushes, grinding wheels and files where ironparticles from other materials may contaminate thestainless steel surface.

Electropolishing

Electropolishing is ideal for producing a uniform, highly reflective lustre with an extremely smooth finisheven on the most complex product contours. This is awell proven method of polishing and is achieved by anelectro-chemical process which is essentially thereverse of electroplating.

The components are immersed in a bath of electrolytecontaining phosphoric acid where the componentsbecome the anode of a direct current electricalcircuit. The process is characterised by the selectiveattack on the surface of the components wherebyupstanding roughnesses are preferentially dissolvedand will yield a progressively smoother, brightersurface.

For pharmaceutical and food processingindustries, bacterial resistance is considerablyimproved by the electropolishing process.

Certain gratings within the ACO Building Drainagerange are electropolished as standard. All stainlesssteel products can be electropolished if required tospecial order.

Pickle Passivation Process.

Pickle Passivation restores corrosion resistance properties fully.

Electropolishing.

Electropolishing further enhances surface smoothness andprovides a brighter surface appearance.
