Achieving the American Dream
Many immigrants came to America in the 1880’s to start both a new life and to achieve the American dream. The way they chose to achieve the American Dream is through hard work.
Women working in factories
to help their families and pay for
the food, health, and much more.
People lined up at a train
station.
Families living on the streets until they
get the money to get a house and provide for
their children.
The book The Jungle depicts a family coming over to America and starting a new
life and working hard to get a better house, even through so many hardships they
had to deal with.
There were also many children working in factories
to help the parents achieve more money.
In the end, they did achieve the American Dream. They got the same freedoms and legal rights as anyone in the country had deserved. Not only through hard times, but through all the hard
work and harsh treatment to get to their visions of the American
Dream.
