Dear Colleagues,
The last month was truly a remarkable month for me in particular, in terms of the external and internal accolades that I received. Being endorsed by the fellow colleagues for ‘Leadership in Execution’ category and also making it to the ‘Leading Women – Chief Marketing Officer’ amongst my esteemed peers in the industry, has been indeed an humbling experience.
In my sincere attempt to thank all those who played vital role in my achievements, I got struck with self-realization too. I think, for me the starting point for all these accomplishments was nothing but a keen pulsating desire to do something for myself, it wasn’t just a wish or a hope.
My personal-professional journey started with a keen desire to make a place for myself in the burgeoning corporate world. While I was still in my teens, I started managing my father-in-law’s business. But soon, I was wanting to expand my horizons into the corporate world beyond and on my own.
To attain the desired heights, like any one of you I too faced many challenges. But kept moving step by step, with single minded focus and without losing sight of my destination. From my first assignment as PR Manager with Emirates Airlines, I knew where I was headed and ever since haven’t lost track of my destination.
High achievement can take place only in the framework of high expectations from self. Even today, I keep asking more from myself, which transcends to my team members, who are achievers in their own right.
Today, when I look back, I think besides the family & immediate team members support what set me apart in this beautiful journey was, sheer Passion to excel, Perseverance, and Perform what may be the situation.
Any one of you wanting to achieve higher goals, try imbibing these three Ps….. you might reach your ‘Leadership Zen Zone’ sooner than you can imagine.....
Warm Regards,
Varad K. Arora

Young Achiever - AnKiTA singh 1. How does it feel to be recognized for your efforts? I feel lucky and fortunate to get this prestigious award from World HRD Congress. I am thankful to Dr. Dwivedi for preparing me for this forum and team for all their support.
2. What do you think your greatest challenge was and how did you overcome it? There were more opportunities and support from everyone than challenges.
3. Would you say that gender is no more a factor at least in the corporate workplace? Yes, I completely agree with that. No matter what gender, if you are ready to take up the challenges and prove yourself, you will find all possible opportunities coming your way. It’s no more about gender but merit.
4. What role did Datamatics play in your success? I have been with Datamatics for over 6 years. I would say whatever i have achieved it’s only because of the opportunities and exposure I received at Datamatics. Dr. Dwivedi has been a great mentor, leader and coach. Journey from a team member to a Function Head has been full of learning. To sum it up, i would say that whatever i have learnt or achieved is all because of my team, Datamatics and Datamaticians. It is a family!
5. What would your advice be for your colleagues who are striving for similar success? Passion is the most important ingredient of any success story. Love what you do, once we start doing that....we are already there!!

A teenage girl would hear classical Ragas from a music class on her way to the temple. The music intrigued her but the word ‘classical’ had connotations of ‘boring’ and ‘difficult’. Her mother (singer); however, was of a different opinion. Enthused by her, she stepped inside the class one day. A man close to her father’s age sat behind a harmonium singing difficult yet wonderful songs in an awe-inspiring voice. She was impressed. Later, when he spoke to her, she knew she would not leave.
Amruta Bhagwat, a legal associate from Lexis Nexis team, had found her ‘guru’ (teacher). “I still remember that day. His voice, his manner of speaking were so soothing and reassuring, I just wanted to sit and keep listening to him. I couldn’t help trusting him. He told me to join his classes and try and I knew I would,” says Amruta reminiscing. It’s been 10 years since she has been under the tutelage of Guru Pradeep Chitnis, learning a litle known ‘gharana’ (lineage) of music called the Gusai Gharana. Swami Haridas, teacher of the world renowned artist Tansen from the Akbar regime was one of the pioneers of the Gusai Gharana.
Amruta shares her feelings about classical music with a sense of deep respect, “After 10 years I can say I understand it superficially only. The depth of our classical music needs years and years of ‘sadhna’. The peace and relaxation that one feels in the vibrations of this music is quite spiritual and heavenly”.
Learning music has also taught her to be a dedicated, hard working and a disciplined professional. It has given her the confidence to lead and articulate herself better in front of people. From her Guru, she has learned how to help people and be kind. “There was a period when the financial condition of my family was not good. My guru taught me for six months without charging any fees. His actions have taught me much more about kindness and helping others than any book ever could,” she says proudly.

When asked about her future plans with music and she replies with enthusiasm, “A couple of friends and I have started a band called the musical meet. We are composing classical based music for the same. Hopefully we will be able to stage a performance soon”. We wish all the very best towards a fruitful musical career.

Nitin Kadam, PreSales Engineer and Instructor at CD, is an exponent of skydiving. We caught up with him recently and asked him about his association with this wonderful adventure sport. Here are excerpts from that interview.
1. What inspired you to take up skydiving? It was my Mom’s 50th Birthday and I just wanted to wish her in some special way. I went through an AFF course and then jumped out of a plane with a board in my hands saying ‘Happy Birthday Mom’. I never knew how fulfilling or empowering skydiving would be for me until I went for my first skydive. Skydiving has changed my life, changed me and made my world very large.
2. How often do you do it? What are the places where you have sky dived? Almost every weekend. Home dropzone: Byron, CA Hollister, CA The Palm, Skydive dubai Nzone skydive, Rotorua, NZ
3. How does it feel when you skydive? I feel full of peace and free. It’s also a big adrenaline rush; it’s just a part of my life. It’s one of rare moments where you have to be 100% on that moment and you will not think about anything else.
4. Are there any specific locations you would like to sky dive from? Why? The Palm, Skydive Dubai; because it’s is the best dropzone ever

5. What are your future skydiving goals?
Learn from my skydiving buddies as much as possible, stay competitive and grow every day as a skydiver and as a person. I’m concentrating on canopy piloting, 4-way formation and to become a pro video-flyer.
His Jumping Philosophy: Open your mind; no matter how experienced you may be, you’ll always find someone you can learn from. Have all your senses focused on it at all times so you can learn from every situation, good or bad.
6. What do you consider your most significant life achievement? So far, being able to live by the Life of SkyGod -- I love free flying the most.
