The global economy remains a factor together with high food and transport costs as well as there being little growth in donor income. The budget for the year ended 31 March 2014 indicates a surplus of R1 million. Additional funds must still be acquired to replace the reserves that were utilised over the last two years and try to build up reserves in the coming years.

The positive effect of the proper nutrition is that the children are now able to concentrate during school lessons and not be distracted by pangs of hunger. Generally their academic results have improved and this in turn allows these youngsters to have dreams of a better future.

The effect of ARV medicines is greatly enhanced though better nutrition and gives the infected children a greater chance of leading healthy productive lives.
