THE COASTERS OF ACE UK! 2015

ACE UK! 2015 TOUR PARKS Paultons Park is located on the cen-turies-old Paulton Estate. The derelict estate was bought in 1979. The park opened in 1983. Attendees will visit historic Stone-henge on the day the trip visits Paultons. Oakwood Theme Park opened in the late 1980s. The park was owned at the time by the McNamara family, who sought to diversify into the leisure in-dustry. Alton Towers was previously the country estate of the Earls of Shrews-bury. Today, it’s one of the most-visited parks in the U.K. Blackpool Pleasure Beach opened in 1896. In 1923 the park moved to its cur-rent location on land reclaimed from the seafront. The Yorkshire Zoological Gardens opened in 1959 with a colony of flamin-goes in its collection. In 1968, the park was renamed Flamingo Park Zoo and became Flamingo Land in 1974. Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach opened in 1909. In 1932 a scenic railway acquired from the 1929 Paris Colonial Exposition opened at the park. The ride continues to operate today. The Cole family opened Joyland in 1949 and still owns the park. The park offers a variety of children’s rides. Pleasurewood Hills opened its gates in 1983 with several attractions, includ-ing a miniature railway.

OPTIONAL ADD-ON PARKS Drayton Manor opened in 1949 with a small collection of children’s rides. The park grew slowly until the late 80s, when it started adding bigger, more thrilling rides. Windsor Safari Park opened in 1969. In 1996, it re-opened as Legoland Windsor, the second Legoland park in the world. Chessington traces its history to the 1300s. The theme park, Chessing-ton World of Adventures, was opened in 1987 by the Tussauds Group, now part of Merlin Entertainments. Adventure Island started as Sunken Gardens, which opened in 1918. The Miller family bought the park in 1976. Dreamland traces its origins back to 1863. Closed since 2004, the historic park re-opens in 2015 thanks to exten-sive preservation efforts. Thorpe Park opened in 1979 on the site of the former Thorpe estate. A cor-porate cousin of Legoland and Chessing-ton, Thorpe emphasizes thrill rides.

HOST PARKSTAKE THE ACE UK! 2015 TOUR AND THE OPTIONALADD-ON PARKS AND YOU’LL ENJOY

62 COASTERS AT 14 PARKS!Our host parks are listed in the order they’re expected to be visited.

ADD-ON PARKS The four day add-on park package, July 26–29, is only available to attendees registering for the ACE UK! 2015 tour, July 18–25, 2015.

ARRIVAL You must arrive in London before or on July 18, 2015. Event registration will take place at the host hotel on July 18. Accommodations for the night of July 18 are included for all attendees. You will need to arrange your own transportation from your arrival airport to the host hotel. If you cannot ar-rive on July 18, you will need to arrange your own transporta-tion to the appropriate host park or hotel. Note: ACE is attempting to arrange discounts at our first and last host hotels for those wishing to extend their trip.

AIR TRAVEL Your airfare is NOT included in the registration fee, and participants are responsible for making their own air travel arrangements. You will need to plan on arriving at the host hotel, near London Heathrow (LHR), in time for check-in the evening of Saturday, July 18. Attendees whose travel plans involve arriving at a different airport will need to make their own travel arrangements to arrive at the host hotel for event registration.

LODGING In the United Kingdom, hotel rooms typically accom-modate only one or two people; larger parties will need to plan accordingly. Twin beds are not always available; you may need to share a bed with your traveling partner. Registration fees are based on double occupancy. If you wish to have a private room, an additional $500 (ACE UK! tour only) or $700 (tour plus add-on parks) charge will be assessed. Please note: ACE will not be matching roommates. When booking for double occupancy rooms on the sec-ond payment/lodging info form, you’ll need to provide the name and ACE member number of your roommate.

eCRIBB If you need assistance in finding a roommate for the ACE UK! 2015 tour, visit the eCRIBB page at my.ACEonline.org.

CHILDREN Children under the age of 12 will not be permitted to attend. Parents should be cautioned to ensure that any chil-dren aged 12-18 will be up to the demands of such a trip. Children under 18 must be carefully supervised.

TOUR DETAILS Every consideration should be taken when regis-tering for this trip. It will be a physically demanding journey. As you embark on this trip, you are making a commitment to keep a level head, exhibit patience and understanding and

represent ACE in a positive manner. Punctuality in the tour schedule is imperative. The main focus of this organized journey will be to enjoy the parks and coasters, though limited sightseeing will be possible. It should be mentioned that cultures and customs may be different in terms of hotels, smoking regulations, meals, oper-ating policies and everyday life. These differences can cause challenging opportunities: embrace them as the details that enrich your travels.

PASSPORT Travel abroad requires a passport; a passport card is not acceptable. All attendees must have a valid passport. The United Kingdom requires that passports be valid three months past the expected end of your trip. If you intend to travel to other countries on your own there may be different requirements. Visit travel.state.gov to learn more about passports.
