PAASCU (PHILIPPINE ACCREDITING ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES)Organization:7PAASCU is governed by a 15-person Board of Directors elected at large by members during the annual General Assembly. It has seven Commissions with five to seven members each to perform its mandate. Over a thousand volunteer accreditors from all over the country visit the institutions in accreditation team of six (6) to twelve (12) members depending on the number of programs being accredited. 8. PACUCOA(Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation)PACUCOA is a private accrediting agency which gives formal recognition to an educational institution by attesting that its academic program maintains excellent standards in its educational operations, in the context of its aims and objectives. 16 17. To guide students in the choice of quality schools, colleges and universities that will meet their individual needs. To help institutions of learning achieve maximum educational effectiveness through self-evaluation and self-discipline. To enlist the cooperation of institutions of learning and professional associations in the mission of advancing the interest of education. 18. PACUCOA(Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation)Accreditation is a concept of selfregulation which focuses on selfstudy and evaluation and on the continuing improvement of educational quality. It is both a process and a result.18 19. PACUCOA(Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation)19Administration The organizational set-up of the library is suitable and is clearly drawn. The Chief Librarian is licensed, full-time and possesses a masters degree in Library Science/Information Science. The chief librarian is appointed by the President and reports directly to him or to the highest academic officer of the institution. The chief librarian directs and supervises the total operations of the library. The chief librarian participates in curricular, instructional and research activities in the institution. 20. Administration cont A faculty-library committee serves as theliaison group between the library and the faculty in an advisory capacity. The library maintains regularly updated written policies and procedural manuals. An annual report showing the accomplishments, needs, utilization, plans for development, and other relevant data is submitted to the administration. 20 21. 21 22. AACCUP(Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines)AACCUP is a non-profit, non-stock corporation composed of 109 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs). The accreditation of curricular programs in the Philippines, particularly for state universities and colleges.22Aims to: "to develop a mechanism of, and conduct the evaluation of programs and institutions. 23. AACCUP(Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines)Accreditation is viewed as a process by which an institution at the tertiary level evaluates its educational activities, in whole or in part, and seeks an independent judgment to confirm that it substantially achieves its objectives, and is generally equal in quality to comparable institutions. 23 24. CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION ON LIBRARY FINANCIAL SUPPORT24Area VII, Library of the AACCUP standards has seven areas of Criteria for evaluation. These are: Administration Personnel Collection Development, Organization & Preservation Services Physical set-up and facilities Financial Support Linkages 25. The sources of funds for library budgets are: Special Trust Fund (STF) General Fund from GAA (General Appropriations Act) Library Fees Grants and Endowments Donations from the Friends of the Library 25 26. FINANCIAL SUPPORT The institution allocates a regular and26realistic budget for the library. The head librarian and staff, coordination with other officials of the institution, prepare and manage the library budget. All fees and funds allocated for library resources and services are utilized solely for such purposes and property audited. Other sources of financial assistance are sought. 27.
