A Word on Quality

In Great Britain quality is measured in two ways.

•Teaching Quality. Courses are scored on a three-point scale; unsatisfactory, satisfactory and excellent. Accounting and Business and Management teaching has been rated as excellent

• Research. The Business School is committed to applied business research so that all our staff and courses are up to date.

Studying in Glamorgan and the UK

1. All teaching and assessments are in English

2. The British approach is different from many universities in mainland Europe in that there is much less class contact. Typically 12 to 15 hours per week.

3.Thus, much more preparation and work required outside lectures to prepare for seminars/tutorials/workshops

4. Note: Total Expected Workload Is the Same

5. You will use an electronic learning platform called “Blackboard” which will give you easy access to learning material, chat rooms, and academic staff

6. Deadlines for handing in work are deadlines. If you have any difficulty, keep your personal tutor informed

What will it cost me?

The Welsh Government has decided not to follow England and impose fees of £3000 per year.

Glamorgan will charge fees for the 2008/09 session of about £1250 per year.

This fee does not have to be paid at the start of the year, though you may wish to do so.

You can apply for a student loan, which becomes repayable when you start earning a salary equivalent of over about £15000 per year.
