Course Objectives
The objective of the course is for you to learn how accounting information can be delivered
using accounting information systems (AISs).
The specific objectives of the course are to learn to:
1. Document AIS and information needs
2. Evaluate different methods of developing AIS for particular circumstances
3. Evaluate internal control in proposed and existing AIS
4. Use database systems to represent and manipulate enterprise data to solve organizational
problems.
Exams and Quizzes:
The exams will have questions based on the text material (all items listed in the Reading column
on the course schedule page of this syllabus), class discussions, items prepared for in-class
discussion and assignments you submit for grading and the Perry and Schneider Access database
book. No make-up exams will be given.
Grading
Graded components of the course will be weighted as shown below. The performance required
for grades is: A, 90.00%; B, 80.00%; C, 70.00%.

Note: No makeup or pop quizzes will be given under any circumstances. If you miss one
exam, the final examination score will be substituted for the missed exam. If you miss a
second exam, you will receive a zero on the second exam. And, late submission of database
assignments will result in 5-points late submission deduction per day. However, your lowest
exam score will NOT be replaced by the final exam score.
