English a Multicultural Language
Language is arguably the most important component of culture because much of the rest of it is normally transmitted orally. It is
impossible to understand the subtle nuances and deep meanings
of another culture without knowing its language well.
Class DiagnosticStudents will be given a questionnaire in order to indentify their knowledge about the American and Indian Cultures.

Teaching Strategies Viewing the film “Outsourced” Group work: students watch the film in order to
identify the differences and similarities between the American and the Indian cultures, according to the guidelines.
After the written reflection the students will give an oral presentation about their findings and produce a mind map.
“Outsourced…is a wonderful surprise…the filmmakers treat Todd’s
story as a springboard for a smart look at the effect of cultural difference on
work, friendship and love, and the global economy’s
impact on national and personal identity(…)”
“(…)Outsourced may be unique: a
charming culture-clash romance that could be taught in business schools.”
