ENROLMENT STUDENTS JOINING THE ACCA COURSE FOR THE FIRST TIME You are not required to attend a formal enrolment session at the University. Instead, from 12 August, you can enrol online from outside the University, for example at home or at work. Shortly after the course has commenced there will be an opportunity to review important information. Arrangements for this will be communicated by your lecturer(s). Details of how to enrol online are available on the Portal (click on ‘Current Students’ at the top right hand corner of the page at www.ulster.ac.uk ). To access this information select the My Studies tab, and click the Registration link in the Registrations and Enrolment channel. An interactive guide to the online enrolment system is available there. You should use your student ID number (which was included in the letter confirming your place on the course) as your username, and your date of birth as your password. Once your enrolment is complete, you will be able to change your password if you wish. Click onto Log into Student and Faculty Self Service and input your ID number and PIN. You can also access the enrolment facility directly at

https://webapplications.ulster.ac.uk/ole/auth/login

Selecting the papers you wish to study You should enrol for modules listed as ‘S1’and also check below to find the Module code and Course Reference Number (CRN) for each module (paper) that you intend to study as this is important when enrolling online. Please note that, while the module code for a module remains the same, the CRN will be different in each teaching period. The CRN identifies uniquely the particular version of a module. The module code is made up of three letters and three digits (e.g. ACC123) while the CRN consists of 5 digits (e.g. 51952). The Module codes and 2015/16 CRN codes for the ACCA papers are listed on page 10 below. Please note that you should only enrol for those papers which you will be studying in preparation for the next exam sitting. You will be able to re-enrol for classes and select the papers you will be sitting at subsequent exam sittings shortly before classes recommence. Each year, re-enrolment for June exams will take place in February, and re-enrolment for December exams will take place in August. If you have any questions about which papers to study, please contact Ronnie Patton ([email protected] ) Timetable Please note that classes will commence in the week beginning 22 August. The room for each class will be added to the timetable shown below on page 7 in the week before classes commence, so please return to this URL to confirm room details.

It is recommended that you check this URL and your University email regularly for details of room changes or any other information that needs to be communicated in a short timescale. If you are unfamiliar with the campus layout, the ‘Finding rooms’ information on page 9 below will be helpful.

When to enrol It is advisable to complete enrolment by 19 August as you will not be able to access learning materials on Blackboard Learn until you have completed online enrolment. You should also enrol with ACCA as soon as possible to ensure that you are eligible to enter for exams. ACCA has strict deadlines for entry for paper based exams and you should confirm these on the ACCA website - or through MyACCA, once you have completed your ACCA enrolment. It is likely to take a minimum of 3 weeks for your ACCA enrolment to be processed, so early enrolment is essential to ensure that you do not miss the relevant exam entry deadline. Please note that the exam entry dates apply to paper based exams. That is, all papers except F1, F2, F3 and F4. These papers are examined by Computer Based Exam (CBE) and you will enter for CBEs directly with the ACCA Approved CBE Centre, which is KT Business Skills Ltd, 2nd Floor, Andras House, 60 Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT2 7BB. The email is: [email protected] Payment of fees At enrolment, you will need to make arrangements for your fees to be paid. If your employer is paying your fees you should supply a copy of a letter of confirmation to Lynda McClean ([email protected] or Room 3G02, University of Ulster, Shore Road Newtownabbey BT37 0QB). If you are paying the fees yourself, the following options are available: Credit/Debit Card (paying fees in full) The University accepts all major credit/debit cards except American Express and Laser. Paying fees in Instalments (recurring card payment) You can pay your fees in instalments by setting up a recurring card payment plan using your credit or debit card. Fees arising from enrolment in August will be paid in ten instalments which are paid on the last day of each month. Should the last day of each month fall on a weekend or a bank holiday, the DD will be collected on the next working day. Fees arising from enrolment in February will be included in any remaining instalments relating to August registration. Paying fees in Instalments (direct debit) You can set up a direct debit provided you have a UK bank or building society account (please note that savings accounts do not permit direct debit payments). To sign up online you must be the sole account holder otherwise you will need to contact the Fees Office in advance of enrolment to obtain a paper direct debit mandate form. You must complete this and return it to the Fees Office, University of Ulster, Cromore Road, Coleraine BT52 1SA, prior to enrolment. Arrangements for instalments are as noted above under ‘recurring card payment’). Student ID card A student ID card is required to use the University’s library facilities. It also gives opportunities to obtain discount in a number of retailers. If you wish to obtain a student card, please provide a passport sized photograph, with your name and student ID number on the back, to Lynda McClean (contact details as noted above). This can be done in the first week or two of classes.

FINDING ROOMS A useful campus map is available at http://www.ulster.ac.uk/information/location/Jordanstown%20Campus%20Map.pdf You will see that the building has a main ‘spine’ – a long corridor which runs parallel to Belfast Lough. This is commonly referred to as ‘the Mall’. Officially it is block 9, floor F. There are a number of entrances to the building. Which of these you enter by will depend on how you travelled to the campus and, if you have driven, which car park you have used. (Please note that there is a charge for car parking) Once you enter the building, go to the mall in the first instance. Once on the Mall, find the block in which the room you are looking for is situated. (In this context, you should note that block 3 is not accessed directly from the Mall, but by going into either block 2 or block 3. At the end of corridor, you will see a sign directing you to block 3.) Apart from block 3 (and block 17 – although no ACCA classes are scheduled in this block) all blocks are accessed from the mall. Blocks are numbered sequentially, starting at the centre of the building at the side nearer the Lough and moving in a clockwise direction. The location of each classroom is indicated on the timetable. Rooms are denoted in terms of block, floor and room number. Thus, for example, 3A06 indicates:

3 = Block A = Floor (within the block) 06 = Room number (on that floor)
