Merit Scholarships 2019 (Based on SPM & IGCSE Results Only)

1. Applicants should be below the age of 25 before the date of application. 2. Only SPM or IGCSE results received within 2 years from commencement date are accepted. Following is the equivalency of grades across SPM and IGCSE exams: 3. Only Trial / Forecast Results which are obtained from registered government schools, private schools and international school under the Ministry of Education, can be used to apply for January intake scholarship. 4. January intake students who obtained their Merit Scholarship based on their trial results, will have the option of upgrading or downgrading their scholarship based on their actual SPM results. The student will need to submit their actual results within 3 weeks from the date of SPM results released. 5. Students who upgrade their Merit Scholarship will be subjected to higher GPA requirements as shown in the table below, and will no longer be allowed to downgrade their scholarship after that. 6. Students who did not qualify with their trial / forecast results but qualify with their actual results may apply for this scholarship. 7. Applicants are allowed to combine results from different examination boards and multiple examination sittings, as long as there are no overlapping subjects and within a 12-month period. 8. This scholarship offer is considered null and void if the student fails to meet the minimum entry requirement as set by the MOE in their actual SPM results. 9. Scholarships are applicable for tuition fees waiver (A Level up to a maximum of 4 subjects) only. 10. Applicants must have submitted their Application for Admission forms and paid the application fee and admission deposit before they can be considered for this scholarship. 11. Applicants are only eligible to apply for scholarship in the first semester. The scholarship application needs to be done before the end of the first semester. 12. Applicants may apply for more than one MCKL scholarships/ financial aid at any one time but will have to choose only one if more than one award is offered. 13. Successful applicants are required to pay the first semester fees in full upon acceptance of the award before the commencement of the semester. 14. Students who are awarded 100% Merit Scholarship will not be entitled for any refund if they withdraw from the programme of study either before commencement or before completion of the programme. 15. Students who have not fully settled their semester fees are not entitled to any scholarship reimbursement in the subsequent semester. 16. The award will be disbursed on a semester by semester basis. The final disbursement will be distributed upon the successful completion of the programme. 17. Recipients must not be on any scholarship, financial aid or sponsorship from any registered organization at the time of application. Should they accept any scholarship, financial aid or sponsorship for their studies in MCKL from any registered organization, they are obliged to inform the Registrar in writing of the source and amount of the award within two (2) weeks of the award date. The College reserves the right to adjust the quantum of the MCKL scholarship received. 18. This scholarship strictly does not cover any repeated papers. 19. To maintain the award, the recipient is required to achieve a minimum GPA / score in the internal exams as shown in the table below.

CAT20. All scholarship recipients are expected to achieve at least 80% attendance at the Student General Meetings and participate actively in the activities organized by the College. 21. All scholarship recipients are required to pass Service Learning and Character Formation subjects in order to maintain the scholarship. 22. In the event that the recipient withdraws from the programme, is suspended or expelled by the College, at any point of time before the completion of the programme, this award shall automatically be revoked. 23. Any refund of fees is subject to the Terms and Conditions as stated in the Student Handbook. 24. The College reserves the right to involve recipients in interviews, advertisements, photography or publicity-related activities for the purpose of promoting MCKL as a leading education institution. 25. 100% Merit Scholarship recipients may be required to assist/participate in various activities organised by the College, up to a maximum of 20 hours per programme. 26. This award is given at the sole discretion of the College. Applicants are not guaranteed approval of the scholarships upon fulfilling the conditions set. 27. This award is only valid for the duration of the programme enrolled and does not cover the extension of the programme beyond its minimum duration. 28. This award is not transferable or redeemable for cash and does not include external examination fees (if applicable) or text books. 29. Methodist College Kuala Lumpur reserves the right to amend any of the terms and conditions as well as this award at any point in time and when it is deemed necessary.
