IntroductionEffectiveJanuary1,2001,thispolicysetsforthinformationregardingACBSP™certificationmaintenancerequirements,includingcertainchangesinthestandards,guidelines,andproceduresoftheACBSPPolicyonContinuingEducation.Whiletheobjectivesofthecontinuingeducationprogramremainthesame,theserevisionsareintendedtoclarifyallrequirementsandguidelinesconcerningtheACBSPrecertificationprocessandtosimplifyadministrativeprocedures.

StatementofPurposesTheACBSPBoardofDirectorshasestablishedacontinuingeducationprogramaspartofthecertificationmaintenanceprocessforACBSPcertificants:DiplomateAmericanChiropracticBoardofSportsPhysicians®(DACBSP®)andCertifiedChiropracticSportsPhysicians/Practitioners®(CCSP®).Thispolicyappliestoallactivecertificants,andisdesignedtoprotecttheintegrityofACBSPcertificantsandthepatientstheyserve.Amongotherpurposes,theCertificationMaintenanceandContinuingEducationPolicyisintendedto:

• PromotecontinuedcompetencebyrequiringACBSPcertificantstodemonstrateacurrentlevelofprofessionalknowledgeandskillsinthespecialtyofchiropracticsportsmedicine;and,

• EncourageACBSPcertificantstoadvanceandenhancetheirknowledgeandskillswithinthedomainofchiropracticsportsmedicine.

CertificationMaintenanceProcessandRequirementsAsexplainedinthispolicy,certificantsmaymaintaintheircertificationbyeither:retakingandpassingtheappropriateACBSP™certificationexamination(s);or,meetingtheeducationalandprofessionalactivityrequirementsoftheACBSPcontinuingeducationprogramasdefinedinthispolicy.Additionally,allcertificantsmustmaintainacurrenthealthcareproviderlevelCPRcertificationinordertomaintainACBSPcertification.

Allexaminationpolicies,deadlines,feesandsiteavailabilityrulesapplytoexaminationscompletedforcertificationmaintenancepurposes.

1. CertificationExaminationforCertificationMaintenance.Certificantsmaychoosetoretaketheirrespectivecertificationexamination(s)inlieuofcomplyingwiththeannualcontinuingeducationrequirementsinordertomaintaintheircertification.a. CCSPRequirement.SuccessfulcompletionoftheCCSPcertificationexamination.

b. DACBSPRequirement.SuccessfulcompletionofboththewrittenandpracticalDACBSPcertificationexaminations.

2. ContinuingEducationRequirementforCertificationMaintenance.Certificantsmaymaintaintheircertificationthroughcontinuingeducationactivities.Aminimumnumberofcontinuingeducationunits(CEUs)mustbeaccumulatedeveryone-yearperiodfollowingACBSPcertification,asdescribedbelow.TheACBSPhasestablishedthefollowingCEUrequirements:a. CCSPRequirements.Completionoftwelve(12)CEUsevery,January1toDecember31,one-

yearperiod.b. DACBSPRequirements.Completionoftwenty-four(24)CEUsevery,January1toDecember

31,one-yearperiod.

TheACBSPgrantsCEUstocertificantsforparticipationineducationalandpracticalactivitiesmeetingspecificcriteria,asdescribedinthispolicy.Creditsmayonlybeappliedtotheone-yearperiodinwhichtheyareearned.Therefore,unlessotherwisepermittedbythispolicy,creditsearnedinexcessoftherequirementsmaynotbeappliedtothenextorapreviousone-yearperiod.

3. MaintenanceofHealthcareProviderLevelCPRCertification.InordertomaintaincertificationwiththeACBSP,allcertificantsmustmaintaincurrenthealthcareproviderlevelCPR/AEDcertificationfromoneofthefollowingorganizations:AmericanHeartAssociation(BLSfortheHealthcareProvider)orAmericanRedCross(ProfessionalRescuer)orequivalent.

CompliantCPRcoursesmustinclude:

• Hands-ontraining• CPRforinfants,children,andadults• OnepersonandtwopersonCPRmethods• AED

HealthcareproviderlevelCPRcoursesthatincludeonlineeducationandahands-oncomponentareacceptableandmeetACBSPcompliancecriteria.Onlineeducationonlycoursesarenotacceptable.

AnnualMaintenanceFeeTheACBSPwillassessanannualmaintenancefeetosupportboardandorganizationalbusinessoperationsincludingdirectandindirectcostsrelatedtoprovidingcertificantandcertificationmanagementservices.TheBoardofDirectorswilldeterminethemaintenancefeeandpenaltyfeeonanannualbasis.

TheannualfeewillbeassessedtoallactivecertificantseachmaintenanceperiodandmustbepaidbyJanuary31eachyear.AlatefeewillbeassessedtoallcertificantswhoneglecttopaythemaintenancefeepriortoJanuary31.InordertomaintainanactivecertificationstatuscertificantsmustpaythemaintenancefeeandapplicablelatefeenolaterthanJune30.CertificantsnotincompliancebyJune30willreceiveanotificationofnon-complianceviaemail.Thosenotincompliancewillberequiredtocomplywithin30.Certificantswhodonotcomplywithin30daysfromthedateofthenotificationofnon-compliancewillberemovedfromtheACBSP™CertificantDirectoryontheACBSPwebsiteandtheircertificationwillbeplacedinaninactivestatus(seeInactiveCertificationStatusbelow).

MaintenanceFeeandDueDateforNewCCSPCertificants.UponnotificationofsuccessfullyearningtheCCSPcertification,newCCSPcertificantswillbeassessedaproratedmaintenancefeeaccordingtothefeeschedulebelow.Uponreceiptofthefeethenewcertificant’sname,officeaddress,officephonenumber,andalinktothedoctor’sofficewebsitewillbeenteredintotheACBSP™CertificantDirectoryontheACBSPwebsite.

2. ReductionorWaiverofAnnualMaintenanceFee.TheACBSPwillconsiderrequestsforthereductionorwaiverofannualmaintenancefeerequirementbasedonspecific,individual,mitigatingcircumstances,includingunduehardshipsandunforeseencircumstancesthatpreventtimelycompletionoftherequirement.Requestsforthereductionorwaiverofthe

requirementmustbesubmittedinwritingandmustcontaincomplete,accurate,andcompellinginformationsupportingtherequestforthereductionorwaiver.ACBSPretainsthesoleandexclusiveauthoritytograntordenyareductionorwaiverrequest.FormalnotificationoftheACBSPdecisionwillbeforwardedtothecertificant.a. Retired/Disabled/MilitaryCertificants.Anycertificantwhohaswithdrawnfromactive

chiropracticpracticeduetoretirement,disability,oractive-dutymilitaryserviceandwishestokeephis/hercertificationactivemustimmediatelynotifytheACBSPinwriting.Maintenancefeesmaybereducedby50%foronlythetimethatthecertificantisnotpracticing.OthercertificationmaintenancerequirementssuchascontinuingeducationandCPRcertificationwillstillberequiredperthispolicy.Documentationofretirement,disability,oractive-dutymilitaryservicesmustbeprovidedtotheACBSPofficeforverification.

b. Full-timeFacultyCertificants.Anycertificantwhoisalsoafull-timefacultymemberandwishestokeephis/hercertificationactivemustimmediatelynotifytheACBSPinwriting.Aformalletterconfirmingfull-timefacultystatusfromtheschool’spresidentordepartmentchairpersonmustbeprovidedtotheACBSPonanannualbasis.Maintenancefeesmaybereducedby50%foronlythetimethatthecertificantisafull-timefacultymember.OthercertificationmaintenancerequirementssuchascontinuingeducationandCPRcertificationwillstillberequiredperthispolicy.

AnnualContinuingEducationRequirementsTheACBSPhasestablishedayearly(12month)timeperiod,orcycle,forthecompletionofcertificationmaintenancerequirements.Underthecontinuingeducationprogram,acertificantmustearntherequirednumberofCEUswithineach,January1toDecember31,one-yearperiodinordertomaintaintheircertification.

ContinuingeducationrequirementsbecomeeffectiveJanuary1ofeachyearfollowinginitialcertification,exceptasotherwisepermittedbythispolicy.Therationaleforaone-yearperiodisthatprotocolsfortheemergencymanagementofaninjuredindividualareintransition(e.g.traumaticbraininjury,concussion)and,althoughemergencymedicineskillsmaybeinfrequentlyrequired,masteryandmaintenanceoftheseskillsisofparamountimportance.

1. InitialPeriod.TheinitialperiodunderthispolicybeganJanuary1,1996andendedDecember31,1998.

2. NewCertificants:InitialMaintenancePeriod.a. NewCCSPcertificants.Mustfulfilltheannualcontinuingeducationrequirementbeginning

January1oftheyearthatimmediatelyfollowsthedateofcertification.b. NewDACBSPcertificants.MustfulfilltheCCSPannualcontinuingeducationrequirementfor

theyearinwhichtheDACBSPcertificationisearned.BeginningJanuary1oftheyear

immediatelyfollowingthedateoftheDACBSPcertificationthecertificantsmustfulfilltheDACBSPannualcontinuingeducationrequirement.

3. MaintenanceofContinuingEducationRecords.Allcertificantsmustmaintainverified,validevidenceofcompletionofanyapplicablecontinuingeducationactivity,includingcopiesofanydocumentationsubmittedtotheACBSP.

4. AttestationofCompliance.EffectiveJanuary1,2015,allcertificantswillberequiredtodeclaretheircurrentandfuturecompliancewiththeACBSPcertificationmaintenancecriteriaincludingcompliancewithannualcontinuingeducationrequirements,CPRmaintenancerequirement,andmaintenanceofrecordsdocumentingcompliancewiththispolicy.

5. AnnualAuditProcess.EffectiveJanuary1,2015,theACBSPwillnolongerrequireoracceptroutinesubmissionofevidenceofcertificants’continuingeducationactivitiesrathertheACBSPwillrequireallcertificantstoattesttotheircompliancewithallapplicablepoliciesincludingmaintenanceofevidencerecordsofcompliance.Thestatementofattestationofcompliancewillbeincludedontheweb-basedregistrationform.Eachactivecertificantisrequiredtocompletetheregistrationformtoprocesstheirannualcertificantmaintenance.

Anannualauditwillbeconductedonarepresentativesampleofactivecertificantstoverifycompliance.NolaterthanJanuary15ofeachyeararandomnumbergeneratorwillbeusedtocreateanappropriatesampleofcertificatenumbersfromthelistofactivecertificatenumbers.ThecertificantswhoholdthesecertificateswillbecontactedviaemailnolaterthanJanuary31andrequiredtosubmitevidenceoftheircontinuingeducationactivitiesforthepriorone-yearmaintenanceperiod(priorcalendaryear)andcurrent,validCPRcertification.CertificantsselectedfortheauditsamplemustsubmitvalidandverifiableevidencetotheACBSPnolaterthanMarch17.Submittedevidencewillbereviewedandcompliancestatuswillbedeterminedandrecorded.TheACBSPmayrequestadditionalinformationorclarificationofaspecificprogramoractivitypriortofinalacceptance.FinalauditresultswillberecordednolaterthanJune30andanotificationofnon-compliancewillbesenttopertinentcertificantsviaemail.Certificantsfoundtonotbeincompliance,includingthosethatdidnotrespondtotheauditnotification,willthenhave30daysfromthedateofthenotificationofnon-compliancetoprovideadditionalevidenceofcomplianceorotherwiseappealtheauditresults.If,afterthe30-dayperiodexpires,thenon-compliancedeterminationhasnotbeenreversedorthecertificanthasnotrespondedtotheinitialnotificationorthenotificationofnon-compliancetheindividual’scertificationwillbeplacedinaninactivestatus(seeInactiveCertificationStatusbelow).

6. ReductionorWaiverofCEURequirements.TheACBSPwillconsiderrequestsforthereductionorwaiverofcontinuingeducationrequirementsbasedonspecific,individual,mitigatingcircumstances,includingunduehardshipsandunforeseencircumstancesthatpreventtimelycompletionofsuchrequirements.Requestsforthereductionorwaiverofcontinuingeducation

requirementsmustbesubmittedinwritingandmustcontaincomplete,accurate,andcompellinginformationsupportingtherequestforthereductionorwaiver.ACBSPretainsthesoleandexclusiveauthoritytograntordenyareductionorwaiverrequest.FormalnotificationoftheACBSPdecisionwillbeforwardedtothecertificant.

7. InactiveandSuspendedCertificationStatus.a. FailuretoMeetCertificationMaintenanceRequirements.AlthoughtheCCSPandDACBSP

certificationsdonothaveanexpirationdate,failuretocomplywithACBSPcertificationmaintenancepolicieswillresultintheindividual’scertificationbeingdesignatedasinactive.Oncethecertificationisplacedintoinactivestatus,thedoctorisprohibitedfromusingtheACBSP™ownedcertificationmarksandfromidentifyingthemselvesascertifiedbytheACBSP.Oncethecertificationisdesignatedasinactivethedoctor’sinformationwillberemovedfromtheACBSP™CertificantDirectoryontheACBSPwebsite.

b. VoluntaryCertificationSuspensionStatus:WithdrawalfromPractice/Retired.AnycertificantwhohaswithdrawnfromactivechiropracticpracticebutwishestomaintaintheircertificationmustimmediatelynotifytheACBSPandwillbeplacedonavoluntarycertificationsuspensionlist.SuchretiredcertificantsarepermittedtoretainsuspendedcertificationstatusandmayseektoactivatecertificationuponapplicationtotheACBSP,providedthattheindividualcomplieswithappropriatepolices(seeReductionorWaiverofAnnualMaintenanceFeesandReductionorWaiverofContinuingEducationRequirementsabove).

Inordertoregainactivestatus,acertificantmustappealtotheACBSPinwriting.Inordertobeconsidered,thecertificantisrequiredtosubmitawrittenstatementtotheACBSPBoard,explainingindetailacompellingreason/basisforthereactivation.Ifpermittedtoattemptreturningthecertificationtoanactivestatustheindividualwillberequiredtocompletetheappropriaterecertificationrequirementsconsistentwiththispolicy.TheappropriaterecertificationrequirementsincludeprovidingverifiableevidenceofhavingearnedthecumulativetotalnumberofhoursofcontinuingeducationfortheinactiveperiodandCPRcertification,inadditiontopaymentoftherequiredmaintenance,penalty,andadministrativefees.UndertheirsolediscretiontheBoardofDirectorsmayplaceaminimumormaximumlimitonthetotalnumberofcontinuingeducationhoursandfeesrequiredtoregainactivestatus.Theboardwillmakesuchdeterminationsonanannualbasis.

TheBoardofDirectors,undertheirsolediscretion,maydenyanyrequestforreactivationofacertification.Inthisinstancetheindividualmaybepermittedtoreapplyforcertificationandsuccessfullycompletetherespectivecertificationprocess.

ContinuingEducationActivityGuidelinesAllcontinuingeducationactivitiesaresubjecttoACBSPreviewandapproval.

1) CategoriesofAcceptableActivities.Unlessotherwisenotedbythispolicy,allcontinuingeducationactivitiesmustbesportsmedicineorfitnessrelatedanddirectlyrelatedtopatientcareinordertobeacceptedbytheACBSP.a) FormalAcademicEducationalCourses.Thiscategoryincludesparticipationineducational

programsdesignedtoenhancephysicianknowledgeandclinicalcompetencyandtoimprovepatientcare.

Programsmustberelatedtothefieldofchiropracticsportsmedicine.Suchactivitiesmustbecompletedfollowinginitialcertificationandmustsatisfythequalityguidelinesdescribedinthispolicy(seeQualityProgramGuidelinesandRequirementsbelow).

b) ProfessionalConferences,Meetings,Seminars,Workshops.Thiscategoryincludesattendanceatqualifiedprofessionalconferences,meetings,seminarsandworkshopsdesignedtoenhancephysicianknowledgeandclinicalcompetencyandtoimprovepatientcare.ParticipationineventsmustsatisfythequalityguidelinesdescribedinSection3,below.Qualifiedeventsmayinclude,butarenotlimitedto:theACBSPAnnualChiropracticSportsSciencesSymposium;and,otherprofessionalandeducationalactivities,subjecttoreviewandapprovalbytheACBSP.

c) ScientificPapersandPublications.Thiscategoryincludesdevelopment,authorshipand/orpresentationofscientificpapers,abstractsandpublicationsintendedforchiropracticphysicianeducation.Anoriginalscientificpaperisdefinedasonethatreflectsasearchofliterature,appendsabibliographyandcontainsoriginaldatagatheredbytheauthor.Suchactivitiesmayinclude,butarenotlimitedto:apublishedmanuscriptinapeer-reviewedjournal;and,abook,orchapterofabookrelatedtothefieldofchiropracticsportsmedicine.Acopyofthepaper/publicationinfinishedformmustbesubmittedtotheACBSPforreviewandapproval.Papersandpublicationswillbejudgedonacase-by-casebasisandthenumberofCEUsgrantedwillnotexceed50%oftheannualcontinuingeducationrequirement.

d) ProfessionalServices.Thiscategoryincludesactivitiesinvolvingsubstantiveparticipationorservicerelatedtothereview,evaluation,developmentandapplicationofchiropracticsportsphysicianknowledgeandcompetency.Suchactivitiesmayinclude,butarenotlimitedto:i) ServiceonACBSPexaminationcommittees,includingAngoffvalue,itemwriteranditem

evaluationcommittees,andpracticalexamcommittees.ii) Definedserviceinaspecificprojectasaprofessionalconsultantorsubjectmatter

expertrelatedtothefieldofchiropracticsportsmedicine.iii) Serviceonamedicalteamorasatreatingdoctorduringanationallyrecognizedathletic

event.

CEUsforserviceonACBSPexaminationcommittees,includingAngoffvalue,itemwriteranditemevaluationcommittees,andpracticalexamcommittees,willbecalculatedas1CEUperhourofactiveparticipationandtheseCEUsmaybeappliedina1:1ratiotomeetpartoralloftheparticipatingcertificant’sannualACBSP™continuingeducationrequirement;however,theCEUswillnotbesubmittedforstates’approvalandtherefore,mayormaynotmeetadoctor’sstatelicensurerequirements.

Serviceonamedicalteamorasatreatingdoctorduringanationallyrecognizedeventwillbecalculatedas0.25CEUperhourofactiveparticipationwithamaximumof50%oftheannualcontinuingeducationrequirementallowedperyear.TheseCEUswillonlyapplytoACBSPcontinuingeducationhoursandmaynotapplytostatelicensurerequirements.Averificationformisavailableintheappendixofthispolicy.

ADACBSPorCCSPcertificantwhocompletesaninternshipatanOlympicTrainingCenter,orisamemberofamedicalteamfortheGoodwillGames,PanAmericanGamesortheOlympicGamesfortheUnitedStateswillfulfilltheentirecontinuingeducationrequirementfortheone-yearperiodinwhichtheyserved

e) DACBSPMentorshipofCCSP.ThiscategoryincludesparticipationinactivitiesspecificallybyCCSPsunderthedirectsupervisionofamentoringDACBSP.OnlyCCSPsmayearncontinuingeducationcreditunderthiscategory.Inorderforanyactivitytobeapprovedandaccepted,theCCSPandmentoringDACBSPmustsubmitadetailedplanforACBSPreviewatleastthirty(30)dayspriortotheproposeddateoftheactivity,includingthefollowinginformation:thesubjectandpracticearea(s)addressedbyeachproposedactivity;theanticipatednumberofcontacthourstobeearnedforeachproposedactivityandrelevantdates;thenumberofcreditsrequesteduponcompletionofeachactivity;thenames,addressesandcontactinformationofboththeCCSPandDACBSP;and,anexpress,writtenandsignedstatementbybothcertificantsindicatingthatthementorshipwillnotinvolveanytypeofmonetaryexchangebetweenparties.CCSPsmustmaintainawrittendailyjournal,includingdetailedexplanationsoftheskillslearnedandknowledgegainedduringthementoredexperienceandmayberequiredtopreparepatientsummarycasereports.CCSPswillbegranted1.0CEUforeveryfour(4)hoursofpracticalactivitycompleted,withamaximumof8.0CEUsthatmaybeearnedunderthiscategoryduringanyone-yearperiod.Creditisnotgrantedforcoffeebreaks,socialfunctions,ortimeallottedtobusinessoradministrativematters.

f) OnlineCoursesandHomeStudy.Thiscategoryincludesstructuredandself-pacededucationalactivitiesdesignedtoenhanceknowledgeandclinicalcompetencyandtoimprovepatientcare.

OnlineEducation:CEUscanbeearnedonlineandmustsatisfythequalityguidelinesdescribedinsection3below.Inanygivenone-yearperiod,CCSPandDACBSPcertificantsmayearnamaximumof50%oftheannualcontinuingeducationrequirementperyear.EffectiveJanuary1,2015,certificantsmaymeet100%oftheACBSPannualcontinuingeducationrequirementviaonlineeducation.HomeStudy:Suchactivitiesmayinclude,butarenotlimitedtothereviewandanalysisofprofessionaljournalsrecognizedbytheprofessionalscientificcommunityandsuccessfulcompletionoftheselftest(quiz)includedinthejournal.QuizresultsmustbesubmittedtotheACBSPnationaloffice.AllactivitiesmustbereviewedandapprovedbytheACBSP.Certificantswillbegranted1.0CEUperquizsuccessfullycompletedandapproved.Inanygivenone-yearperiod,CCSPandDACBSPcertificantsmayearnamaximumof3.0CEUsunderthiscategory.

g) Non-ACBSPCertificationsandSpecialties.Thiscategoryincludesthesatisfaction,completionandmaintenanceofprofessionalcertification(s)insports-relateddisciplines,administeredbyotherrecognizedorganizations,including:AthleticTrainingCertificationbytheNationalAthleticTrainer’sAssociationBoardofCertification;EMTCertificationbyanauthorizedEMTcertifyingorganization;andCertifiedStrengthandConditioningSpecialistbytheNSCACertificationCommission.Inanygivenone-yearperiod,CCSPandDACBSPcertificantswillbeexemptfromACBSPcontinuingeducationrequirements,aslongasallcertificationandrecertificationrequirementsarecompletedincompliancewiththerespectiveorganization’srequirements.Arequestforexemption,includingsupportingdocumentationofsuchotherrecognizedcertification(s),mustbesubmittedtotheACBSPforreviewandapproval.

h) InstructionResearchHours.Certificantsmayearncontinuingeducationcreditforresearchingandteachingpost-graduatelevelcoursesthataredirectlyrelatedtothefieldofsportsmedicine.1.0CEUcredit(s)willbeprovided,onaonetimebasis,foreachlivehourofanewsportsmedicinepresentationtoprovidecreditfortheresearchactivitiesperformedbythecertificant.Noadditionalcreditsaremadeavailableforinstructionofthecourse.InstructionResearchhoursmaynotexceedmorethan50%ofthetotalannualCEUrequirements.TheACBSPrecommendssubmittingthelecturenotesoranotherformofconfirmationtotheBoardofDirectors.TheBoardofDirectors,intheirsolediscretion,maydenyanysubmittedrequestforcontinuingeducationcredits.

i) OtherContinuingEducationActivities.ThiscategoryincludesothercontinuingeducationactivitiesthatmaybeconsideredforcreditbytheACBSP.

topatientcareinordertobeacceptedbytheACBSP;therefore,thefollowingcontinuingeducationprogramtopicsarenotacceptable:a) Manipulativetechniques,b) Practicemanagementandphilosophy,c) Billingandcoding,insurance,andMedicare,d) Lawsandlegislation.

3) QualityProgramGuidelinesandRequirements.Unlessotherwisenotedbythispolicy,allCEUactivitiesacceptedbytheACBSPmustsatisfythefollowingguidelinesandrequirements.TheserulesareprovidedtoassistcertificantsinevaluatingwhetheraprogramoractivitymaysatisfyACBSPContinuingEducationrequirements.ThesestandardsarenotintendedtosuggestthataprogramappearingtosatisfythesecriteriawillbeapprovedordisapprovedbytheACBSP.a) RelevantContent.Theactivitymusthavesignificantintellectualorpracticalcontent,the

primaryobjectiveofwhichistoimprovetheprofessionalcompetenceofparticipants.Theactivitymustbeanorganizedprogramoflearningdesignedtoprovideeducationinsubjectsdirectlyrelatingtosportsand/orfitnessmedicine.

b) StatedObjectives.Theactivitymusthavestatedandprintededucationalobjectives.Theobjectivesmuststatewhatthepractitionerwillknoworbeabletodouponcompletionoftheactivity.

c) Non-RestrictedParticipation.Theprogrammustbedescribedinadetailedstatementpreparedbythesponsororcertificantwhichexplainsthetypeofaudienceforwhomtheactivityisdesignedandtherelevancyoftheprogramtotheprofessionalpracticeneedsofparticipants.Theactivitymustbenon-discriminatoryandopentoallpractitionersinterestedinthesubjectmatter.

d) InstructorCompetency.ThecredentialsoftheprograminstructorsmustbeprovidedtotheACBSP.Theinstructorsmusthaveappropriateexpertiseandadequatecredentialsnecessarytoconducttheprogrameffectively,includingknowledgeofcontentarea,qualificationbyrelevantexperienceandcompetenceasaninstructor.

e) AttendanceRecords.ThesponsororprovidermustmonitortheCEUactivityforattendanceandmaintainrecordstoassurethatparticipantsmaybegivenpropercreditforcontinuingeducation.

f) CourseMaterials.Eachparticipantmustbeprovidedwiththorough,highqualityandcarefullypreparedwrittencoursematerialsbeforeoratthetimeoftheactivity.Althoughwrittenmaterialsmaynotbeappropriatetoallcourses,theyareexpectedtobeutilizedwheneverpossible.

g) AdequateFacilities.Theprogrammustassurethatproperfacilitiesandequipmentareprovidedtoenablethepresentertoteacheffectively.Theactivitymustbepresentedinasuitablesettingconducivetoeducation,includingtheprovisionofadequatewritingspaceorsurfaceforparticipants.

4) GrantingCredit.Inallcases,creditisgrantedonlyaftertheeducationalactivityhasbeencompletedanddocumented.Unlessstatedotherwiseinthispolicy,certificantswillbegranted1.0CEUforeachcontacthourofprofessionaloreducationalactivitycompleted,consistentwiththetermsofthispolicy.Beyondtheinitialhour,one-halfCEU(0.5)willbegrantedforcompletionofatleastthirty(30)additionalminutes,butlessthansixty(60)minutes.Creditisnotgrantedforcoffeebreaks,socialfunctions,ortimeallottedtobusinessoradministrativematters.

5) CreditDenial.TheACBSPreservesthesoleandexclusiverighttoevaluateallprogramsandactivitiesonanindividualbasis,andtodenycreditsatitsdiscretiontothose,whichdonotmeetthecriteria,describedinthispolicy.ThenumberofCEUsindicatedforaprogrambyotherorganizationswillbeconsideredbytheACBSPinitsevaluation.However,theACBSPreservesthesoleandexclusiverighttomakefinaldeterminationofthenumberofcreditsgranted.ThecertificantwillbenotifiedofadecisionwhereCEUsarereducedordenied,includingthebasisforsuchaction.
