system helps ensure the comfort of passengers in all three rows. In addition, the Acadia has ample places to store your belongings, including

a spacious glovebox, a bin above the instrument panel and spaces in the center console, front-row seatbacks and below the rear cargo floor.

rEarviEW mirror/camEraAn available rearview camera system includes a built-in camera mounted near the

license plate. When in reverse, an image from the camera is displayed on a portion of

the rearview mirror (so you can still see out the mirror). The mirror reverts to a normal

full-frame image/reflection when you shift into Drive or Park.

sensors and rollover sensors strategically trigger the appropriate airbags. In rear impacts, retractor-mounted

pretensioners help secure the driver and front passengers.

The front passenger airbag features a passenger sensing system.

It uses a sensor within the front passenger seat to detect the weight

of the occupant. Under a certain weight, the system automatically

turns off the airbag.

Acadia comes with six airbags: two front dual-stage airbags and

two side-impact airbags for the driver and front-seat passenger,

and a head-curtain side-impact airbag system that functions

like a protective curtain, unfolding from the roof rail on each

side. Activated by side-impact and rollover sensors, each curtain

includes airbag sections for outboard front, second-row and

third-row passengers.

The integral body-frame construction makes extensive use of ultra-

high-strength steel—four times stronger than regular carbon steel

—on primary load paths. It also uses dual-phase steel—three times

stronger than carbon steel— in key areas, taking advantage of this

material’s ability to absorb the energy of crash forces.

1 tirE prEssurE monitoring systEm

This advanced system keeps track of tire pressure and alerts you to

low pressure through the Driver Information Center — indicating

exactly which tire is low. The system also sends a message regarding

tire pressure each time you start the vehicle, letting you know at

any time when pressure is low. (Does not monitor spare tire.)

5 stabilitraktm stability control systEm

To keep you firmly in control, StabiliTrakTM is standard. It’s advanced

engineering designed to improve safety, stability and control on

most road surfaces. And that can mean a lot in an emergency

maneuver. Sensors read the position of your steering wheel, and

the vehicle speed, brake pressure, lateral acceleration and turning

rate, then feed the data to an onboard computer. If your Acadia

is not responding adequately to your steering input, the computer

adjusts the engine speed and the brake pressure to any individual

wheel to help you keep on track. With sensors that are programmed

to proactively predict and help counteract vehicle “tip-up” on a flat

road surface, StabiliTrakTM can even help to mitigate a rollover.
