Notice and Announcement HKJC ILCM's 1st Annual Medical Education Conference Almost 300 participants, including medical specialists from different disciplines and nurses, gathered at the HKAM Jockey Club Building. Key theme of the Conference was "Medical and Healthcare Education along the Continuum". The 2day Conference, which took place on 78 February 2015, provided an important platform for collaboration and dialogue amongst various stakeholders that highlighted the importance of medical education, in contributing to higher standard of medical care. Attendees were given the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in medical education, sharpen their teaching and/or learning skills, hear from prominent speakers and take part in several interactive workshops. Overseas speakers from the Centre for Medical Education of the University of Edinburgh, perspective medical leaders and educators from our Specialty Colleges, Faculty of Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong and Hospital Authority, addressed the attendees and shared best practices in medical education hoping to inspire the healthcare profession. HKJC ILCM's 1st Annual Medical Education Conference

Maintenance and Renovation Works on 10/F

Maintenance and renovation works on 10/F of the Academy building are inprogress. The General Secretariat and HKAM Press have been temporarilyrelocated to the Library on 3/F.

Due to the above, library services on 3/F will be ceased until April 2015. Weapologise for any inconvenience caused.

Political Reform Forum

President attended a Political Reform Forum organized by the Hong Kong Medical Association.

 

Lunch with Royal College of O & G, 28 February 2015

A lunch was hosted to welcome a 3‐member delegation from the Royal Collegeof Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), including its President Dr. DavidRichmond, Vice President (Education) Dr. Clare McKenzie and Deputy ChiefExecutive & Executive Director of Global Education Dr. Michael Murphy. Therenowned guests were received by the President and the Academy's Officers.It was a very enjoyable lunch in a pleasant atmosphere, with the participationof our other invited guests such as President and Vice‐Presidents of Hong KongCollege of O & G, medical leaders of Department of O & G of the 2 localuniversities as well as other O & G experts.

The Academy and the Department of Health will co‐organizea Lecture at the Academy on 19 March 2015 at 6:00 p.m.Professor Dame Sally C Davies, Chief Medical Officer forEngland and Chief Scientific Adviser, Department of HealthUK, will present a lecture, entitled "The Inconvenient Truth ‐Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) UK Action and the Keys toGlobal Success". At this lecture, Dame Sally will share withparticipants the latest situation of AMR and the experience incontrolling AMR in UK. A round table discussion will be heldafter the Lecture to discuss the recent advances, strategiesand challenges of AMR field with local experts.

Free Trial of Part‐task Trainers offered to College Fellows andTrainees (16 September 2014 ‐ 31 December 2015)

Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre forMedicine has extended the offer period, which will now closeon 31 December 2015. The free trial allows College Fellowsand trainees to gain simulation‐based training experiences byusing various simulators. Simulators available for traininginclude LAP Mentor, GI/BRONCH Mentor and HeartWorksDual Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)/ Transthoracicechocardiography (TTE). Please click here for the details ofour simulators.

1.  Each trial session will last 2 hours and consists of asmall group of maximum 3 Fellows/ trainees. It is notnecessary for the trainees to be accompanied by aFellow;

2.  Timeslots for selection are 0830‐1030, 1030‐1230,1330‐1530 and 1530‐1730;

3.  As the free trial is a self‐learning exercise, there will beno technical support;

4.  Fellows / trainees who wish to book a trial sessionmust complete a booking form and submit it throughtheir Colleges. College endorsement is required. (Clickhere to download the booking form);

5.  Bookings are on first‐come, first‐served basis and mustbe made a minimum of 5 working days in advance ofthe desired session;

6.  All cancellations must be made at least 3 working daysbefore the scheduled session; and

7.  HKJC ILCM reserves the right to cancel any booking if itis deemed necessary.

To further enhance the online services for CMECPD, theAcademy has developed a mobile application for capturingattendance ‐ iCMECPD App. The testing version is nowavailable at Apple's App Store and Google's Play. Fellows maydownload the App by scanning the respective QR code below

(or search "icmecpd" from App Store/Google Play) and install it in theirsmartphone with operating system in iOS (7.1 or above) or Android (3.0 orabove).
