Academic & Vocational Opportunities

At Northern Sydney Scholastic & Sporting Academy we

recognise the incredible demands made of young athletes

as they balance commitments in their chosen sport and in

the classroom at Narrabeen Sports High School. We value

a balanced curriculum, and to assist elite level athletes

achieve their academic potential we have appointed

teacher mentors who will work with students in small

group settings to ensure all course work is complete.

This will involve:

• Recording lectures by classroom teachers when an elite

level athlete is absent due to sporting commitments.

• Offering homework and assignment assistance to help

students understand key concepts across their different

subjects and complete coursework.

• Teacher Mentors at the Academy and guest speakers

leading a variety of workshops focusing on habits of

mind such as motivation, leadership, teamwork, time

management and goal setting to maximise outcomes

on the sports arena and in the classroom.

In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum, the

School also offers a variety of Vocational and Educational

Training courses including:

• Sport and Recreation - Certificate 2

• Trade and Construction - Certificate 3. Over $1,000,000

has been spent on a new Trade Training Centre which is on

school grounds

• Hospitality - Certificate 2. Over $1,000,000 has been spent

on a commercial grade kitchen, which is on school grounds.

The Academy will operate in unison with the academic and social framework of the school curriculum, and therefore the educational value of sport in the overall development of the student will be of major consideration.
