Dear La Biosthetique Stylists,

We are delighted to announce some exciting changes and developments to our Education Calendar for 2016 and we owe it in part, to you. 2015 marked an extraordinarily successful year for us. From Paris Fashion Week to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, to winning the People’s Award at the GenNext Hair Expo Gala night, it’s the stylists in our network who’ve shown us your capabilities and showcased just how much you know.

So, in response, we’ve put the gears in work for creating an education program that develop your skills, compounding on your achievements.

Our classes are more dynamic, more inspiring and – yes, get ready for it- more difficult too. This year you will have access to interactive courses showcasing new products and classes that incorporate signature services. This Total Beauty approach will refine and improve both your technical and ‘soft’ skills so that you can realise your full potential in your hairdressing career. Alongside this holistic approach, new exams and online practice quizzes will mark your progress. Your development through the Education Path will give you a guided plan to actualising your professional goals. One last change will be the classroom itself. I’m thrilled to tell you, as a symbol of our commitment to your education, we are opening a brand new training academy in Melbourne.

As a family, we want to celebrate your achievements with you. This is why awards ceremonies for recognition of training status will become part of program. Here in Australia and New Zealand we look forward to sharing in your successes at our annual party as well, highlighting all entries who have completed sections of their Education Path.

Third generation hairdresser and 11 years in the industry, Alex Fuchs joined the La Biosthétique education team from Switzerland and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and platform experience from his work across Europe and Asia. A glossy magazine regular, Alex has appeared in Vogue Australia, Russh Magazine and OK magazine, as well as trade publications such as The Journal and InStyle. When he is not directing La Biosthétique fashion shows, photoshoots and events, Alex works as a resident master and colour specialist at Bauhaus, a La Biosthétique Total Beauty Concept Salon in Sydney. A passion for education sees Alex regularly as the international guest artist for stage and education shows in Asia and across Europe. As a mentor for La Biosthétique Nouveaux Talents, creative director of the winning GenNext team, member of Rodney Cutlers New York Fashion Week Team and Strateas.Carlucci’s go-to stylist, it is no wonder Alex was finalist for NSW Hairdresser of the Year 2015.

Tracey has been working in the hairdressing industry for over 30 years and running her own successful business for 14 of those years. Halo Hair in Balgowlah Sydney is a La Biosthétique Concept Salon that Tracey continues to work in two days a week, leading her staff by example and setting a high service standard. In addition to running the salon, Tracey has worked as Director of Education for major product companies. With her passion in education and development, she has conducted shows and seminars all over the world, including England, Italy, Scandinavia, USA, China and Taiwan. Her industry accolades and experience have seen Tracey invited to judge the Hair Expo Awards for many years. She now runs business seminars, passing on her knowledge and growing other successful businesses across the country.

An accomplished colourist with over two decades of experiences, Kirsty has been a member of the education team since 2006. She has worked behind the scenes creating hair masterpieces for Australia’s Next Top Model, Johanna Johnson at New York Fashion Week and RAFW and has also worked on various photoshoots for top fashion houses. Kirsty has trained internationally and travels across Australia and New Zealand regularly to pass on her extensive knowledge of the La Biosthétique hair and scalp care ranges. Kirsty is the go-to person for advanced scalp knowledge and complex colour corrections. Her mind for all things technical and love for education, makes Kirsty a most valuable senior member of our team.

Direct from Europe, Rebecca is a welcome addition to the Australian La Biosthétique family, bringing her wealth of knowledge and experience with the Total Beauty Culture. Completing her diploma in make-up, hair and scalp with La Biosthétique, Rebecca has extensive product knowledge and keen eye for trends. Whilst in Australia Rebecca has worked on numerous fashion shows and red carpet events, doing the make-up for VIP guests at the ASTRA Awards, as well as photoshoots for Papinelle, Peter Steele and David Mannah. Her experience from working with the La Biosthétique International Creative Team in Paris, fashion shows in Switzerland and being a member of the La Biosthétique young creative team has set her up nicely to direct the make-up for the winning GenNext team and the La Biosthétique Spring/Summer 15-16 trend collection.

Between New Zealand and Australia, Joel’s 16 years of experience in hairdressing are an asset to La Biosthétique education and to Bauhaus where he works as senior stylist. A favourite with fashion shows and stage productions, Joel has been fortunate to work on a number of shows for large international brands such as Chanel, to collections from Australian designers including Camilla Frank and Leona Edmiston. He is also a member of the Opera House Hair team for the production “La Traviata”. His education background is just as impressive, with a certificate IV in Hairdressing and frontline business management, he has worked at private academies in Australia and also with Pivot Point’s educational workshops at Hair Expo delivering the latest trends and techniques.

Sarah has been in the beauty industry for over 10 years. Coming from New Zealand, Sarah was awarded with Joyce Blok New Zealand Therapist of the Year, two years running, and it was under her management that her salon won Joyce Blok Salon of the Year, four years running. After her success in New Zealand, Sarah sought out new challenges and moved to Europe to complete both the CIBTAC British International Beauty Accreditation and the CIDESCO Swiss International Beauty Accreditation. Sarah has been a skin care educator for over five years and brings her wealth of skin care knowledge and incredible facial and beauty services to our salon network, delivering training from prestigious resort destination spas, to salons wanting to introduce skin care.

Maria Ardino is the salon creative director of Ardino Salon in Paddington Sydney. Ardino is an iconic hair and beauty destination in Sydney. Alongside running a successful business, Maria has been a hair director for Australian Fashion Week for over eight years building her reputation for styling. Her career has enabled her to style shows for Alex Perry, Ellery, Canturi Jewels, Longchamp, Jason Brunswick & Jets swimwear. Her career highlights include hair director in New York for Australian designer Johanna Johnson, collection shoot and collection show. Other events have included The Great Gatsby movie launch for Vogue & Tiffany jewels using the actual head piece jewels. Opening Australian Fashion Week with The Breakfast at Tiffany event as hair director for 50 models. Currently Maria’s focus has been on hosting styling and cutting workshops for La Biosthétique across Australia and New Zealand, bringing her tips and tricks to our network.

One of Australia’s most respected hairdressers Todd Arndt has worked with many leading fashion designers including Alex Perry, Akira, Sass and Bide, Ginger and Smart, and Wayne Cooper. Todd is also the salon owner of Brisbane’s La Biosthétique Concept Salon, Vogue Nationale, which has been published in a host of national magazines including Harper’s Bazaar, Oyster, Culture and Grazia. A regular at Paris Fashion Week, Todd has worked on many fashion shows for La Biosthétique including directing the hair for Strateas.Carlucci at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in 2015.

Gess Mazis has been a passionate hairdresser for over 26 years and has won multiple awards and worked on stage both in Australia and internationally. As the managing director of La Bimbi salons and Soma Day Spa, she travels internationally to present to business owners her insights into running salon businesses and hair fashion trends. Her energy and enthusiasm for the industry has seen her invited to Europe, Asia and America to discuss, present and work on stage. Last year she won the national title of the La Biosthétique International Beauty Stylist Award and was flown to Paris to compete on a global scale for the International Beauty Stylist Awards.

Mandy is the creative director of Kingsman Hair and Education, touring nationally to teach aspiring stylists the tips and tricks she has learnt in her editorial and fashion work. Previously, Mandy has worked on a wide range of creative projects including London Fashion Week, Vogue, MBFWA, Vivienne Westwood, International Woolmark Prize, Ellery and Vogue Fashion Night Out. In 2014 Mandy was chosen to be a member of the F.A.M.E Team, being mentored by Trevor Sorbie, Angelo Seminara, Darren Ambrose and Akin Konizi, as well as Australian mentors such as Jayne Wild, Shane Henning, Benni Tognini and Matt Clements. With the F.A.M.E team Mandy presented at Salon International, did editorial photoshoots and was awarded finalist in the AHFA for Artistic Team of The Year.

Sue Morgan’s long-spanning career in hairdressing has seen her educating for leading international hair product companies, directing the hair for major fashion shows and running a successful salon for over 35 years. Sue has traveled the world inspiring audiences with her innovative and award winning concepts, working with some of Australia’s best talent, including Gemma Ward, Nicole Trunfio, Emma Booth and Sarah Tilleke. Her latest contribution to industry is as creative hair director to WA’s highly acclaimed fashion charity event, STYLEAID. Sue has developed this role by bringing on board and directing a backstage team consisting of some of the best in WA talent to assist and create the latest trends in runway styling. Education and training has always been an important part of Sue’s working life. Her salon, Be Ba Bo has been instrumental in training over 50 apprentices and 150 staff. Based in Perth, Western Australia, Sue will be bringing her knowledge and expertise to our salon network.

With over 26 years experience in the hairdressing industry and 11 years owning his own successful salon, Foxy salon in Melbourne, Joey has joined the La Biosthétique Equipe Artistique to inspire and educate our network across Australia. In 2014, Joey was named the International winner for the La Biosthétique International Beauty Stylist Awards, which saw him travelling through France and Germany on tour with the La Biosthétique International Creative Team, presenting educational workshops and inspirational stage shows. Within Australia, Joey has worked on fashion shows for Strateas.Carlucci, shoots for Papinelle, trend forecasts for La Biosthétique network parties and national cutting workshops.

Daniel has styled the likes of Kylie Minogue, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joan Collins and super model Helena Christensen. He has also regularly styled photoshoots for publications such as Who, TV Week, Oyster, Sky, Cream, Pure, Remix and The Daily Telegraph and his TV work includes hair makeovers on the Today Show. With over 30 years experience in the hairdressing industry, Daniel knows how to take these looks from the red carpet and turn them into wearable styles for his clients in his successful Sydney salon, One Room.

BEAUTY RITUAL CLASS The La Biosthétique Beauty Ritual is a series of service steps that are core to our service philosophy and used globally by La Biosthétique salons. These steps touch on all of the clients’ senses during their time in the salon, delivering them an impeccable and memorable Total Beauty experience. It is perfect for those new to our colour system, or those wanting to refresh their knowledge on the range. It covers everything from La Biosthétique Tint & Tone Advanced to Shine & Tone and Glam Colour, providing a solid foundation for a La Biothetique star colourist.

MODULE TIME 10am - 4pm WHO All staff member new to the La Biosthétique colour system and stylists wanting to refresh their knowledge. COST $75

MODULE ESSENTIAL COLOUR 1Establish a strong foundation in colour theory and practical knowledge. This two-day class will start you on the La Biosthétique Colour Education Path, which will cover all the essentials in colouring. Using a mix of theory and practical, this class will give you an understanding of the make-up of hair, the science of hair colour and pigmentation. Learn how colour works and the fundamentals of application, coverage and removal. Leave this class confident in delivering colour.

ESSENTIAL COLOUR 2Built on the foundation set in the previous class, this two day workshop will have you mixing your own shades, playing with pastels and lightening techniques, and understanding the basics of colour correction. Become confident in producing beautiful blondes, creative toners and intricate foiling. This course is the perfect class for any stylist wishing to take their fundamental colour knowledge to more complex applications.

ESSENTIAL COLOUR TESTComplete your Essential Colour classes with the test, have your essential colour knowledge certified and be eligible to continue on your Colour Education Path. The test is also for anyone who started the Colour Education Path in 2015 and would like to continue on it in 2016.
