We at ACACIA are once again proud to present to you this season’s finds. For our autumn and fall looks, we were inspired by the warm style of Provence and a vintage, Tuscan color palette. The Pompeii copper hurricanes and Matka lanterns in this issue celebrate the golden, sun kissed look of Tuscan interiors. Our Huile de Olive bottles and Ensign de Saloon flat bottles were inspired by authentic flea market discoveries (during one of our summer trips to Paris’ Les Puces de Saint-Ouen). As we explored Provencal style, sea chords and coastal themes became dominant and these are also highlighted in this season’s catalog. Our Cagliari and Salerno Hurricanes are made up of deep blues, turquoise and white, reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea and whitewashed towns that overlook these vistas. In this our 3rd issue, we are also thrilled to launch our new line of candles! The soft glow of candlelight is always lovely for the autumn and winter season. Our new candle collection will surely excite you as as we hope to inspire you with the marvelousholiday scents of Current and Crimson Berries and Winter Heirloom Roses. I am once again~ so happy to share with you our latest ACACIA catalog. I hope thatwe inspire you on your own personal journey in your own home décor travels and adventures.

Some of our favorite spots to explore are the Med towns of Provence. The sea and sun shades of azure, cerulean and jade in Marseilles, Cote d'Azur, and Nice were a key inspiration for this collection. Our Satna bottles, Caligiari canisters and glass buoys echo this Mediterranean vibe.

1. Before man figured out how to craft glass, nature was already making it. When lightning strikes sand, the heat fuses the sandinto long, slender glass tubes.

2. Around 3,000 B.C. is when we found the first real evidence of manufactured glass by people.

3. The first glass manufacturer built in the United States was at Jamestown, Virginia, in 1608.

4. In the 1850s, bottles and flasks were first used mainly for whiskey.

5. The screw-top Mason jar for home canning

6. The energy from recycling one glass bottle can power a computer for 30 minutes.

8. Making glass is like following a simple recipe of ingredients. The first 3 ingredients are in all glass: sand, soda ash and limestone, the fourth ingredient is the addition of chemicals to give glass its color.

•Loofah ScrubCut, fresh oranges will slough dry skin off heels, knees, and elbows.

•Face and Body Scrub An invigorating scrub that improves circulation.Combine 1 cup of chickpea flour, 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric, 2 tablespoons each ground mustard and crushed fresh coriander leaves, 3 tablespoons rose water, 1 cup orange juice, and 1/2 cup water; stir to blend. Work the scrub all over your face and body. Rinse with warm water.

•Anti-Aging ScrubBrew a mug of extra-strength loose green tea. Pour a tablespoon of brewed tea into a bowl. Allow the tea to cool. Pour a tablespoon of sugar into the tea. Keep adding sugar until the mixture has aconsistency that's gritty enough to scrub your skin, still wet enough to apply easily. Stir in a tablespoon of honey until well mixed. Honey has great moisturizing and antibacterial properties.

The heritage of the Acacia staff is widely diverse. We grew up in the lush, green mountains of Vermont, in rural New York horse county, in the calypso culture of Guyana, and exotic Thailand. Yet there seems to be a commonal-ity in our "growing up". Our mom's kitchens were a sanctuary for our families. We learned, and were nurtured: we would not be who we are today without the knowledge we gained there, on that small bit of paradise we call Mom's Kitchen.

DirectionsPreheat oven to 375 F. Rub chicken with olive and sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper, and stuff with approximately 1/2 of the rosemary, red onion, and lemon. Place in roasting pan roast for 45 minutes. Remove chicken from oven, add remain-ing rosemary, red onion, garlic and lemon to the pan. Baste chicken and return it to the oven for the remaining 45 minutes.

2 of our NYC staffers were lucky enough to score apartments with outdoor space. If you know New York, you under-stand what a coup that is! With limited planting space, and horticultural resources, all the usual questions were originally asked, "what, where and how to plant?". Then our minds turned to all those new, shiny gardening tools...how do we care for them?

4No-Nonsense Tips on How to Care for your Gardening ToolsRinse soil off tools after each use. After you are done for the day, make a pit stop at the hose. Scrub your tools with a stiff brush. (helpful hint: keep brush hanging close to your hose). Dry

your tools thoroughly. Good-quality pruning shears should last a long time. Invest in a sharpening device meant for shears i.e. a whetstone. Complete the care regimen by giving the blades an occa-sional pass.

Fill an old pot or bucket (large enough to hold all of your metal-blade tools) with dry sand. Mix lubricating oil such as WD-40, linseed oil or vegetable oil with the sand until thoroughly

moist. Plunge your hoes, shovels, trowels, into the sandy mix. Place the pot or bucket containing the tools in a cool, dry place and let the mix do its work.

Linseed oil is also great for cleaning for wood handles. Hang a rag near the sand bucket to give a quick wipe to wooden tool handles, too. Safety note: Do not wad up any linseed oil

rags or put them in an enclosed container as there is combustion risk. Allow the rag to dry in the open between uses, and when disposing, dry thoroughly first or soak with water before placing in a closed metal can.

Get the tools indoors and hang them up! Even when you know you will be using your tools the following day, don’t leave them out in the elements. Moisture is the enemy in good
