The chips accumulate to the point of system overload and eventually shut down the conveyor. The conveyors are fitted with manual controls for an operator to sequence the scrap material away from the machine. Lost production time results since the operator must now clear the jam and restart the system. KB solution: The choice for this application was a KBDA digital drive housed in a rugged die-cast NEMA 4X (IP 65) aluminum enclosure. The engineers at KB were able to develop custom software that senses a system overload prior to a jam up. A series of anti-jam sequences are performed very rapidly which clear the jam and allow the process to continue. For more case studies, visit our KB’s Media Center on their website.
