Abstract Each year, Baja SAE (Society of Automotive Engineer) engineering students design and build a single-seat, all- terrain prototype sporting vehicle meant to serve a recreational user market by being reliable, maintainable, and economically feasible. Once built, students compete with other universities in a racing competition that tests various aspects of the vehicle. This year, the vehicle design consisted of two major projects; a completely new vehicle frame, and the first four-wheel drive system ever implemented on a UT Tyler Baja SAE vehicle. In addition to these two major design projects, there were various sub-systems being altered and redesigned. These subsystem updates included modifying the wheel hubs and braking system to allow for a four- wheel drive design, updating the suspension with new frame mounting points, and designing new body panels using lightweight material.
