TEHNOMUS - New Technologies and Products in Machine Manufacturing Technologies THE INFLUENCE OF ATMOSPHERIC TEMPERATURE VALUE ON THE ACCURACY OF DISTANCE MEASUREMENT WITH THE TOTAL STATION LEICA TC(R)-705 Maxim Arseni 1 , Lucian Puiu Georgescu 1 , Adrian Cîrciumaru 2 1 Dunărea de Jos University of Galați, Faculty of Sciences and Environment, European Center of Excellence for the Environment, Str. To achieve the main purpose of this study it was used the total station Leica TC(R)-705. The study was conducted on a well- defined network. Network points was performed on two alignments, each of them having five points (one being common), focused on 4 direction, two by two reciprocal: South-North, North-South and East-West, West-East. The temperature value was the main parameter studied, because it is the critical parameter influencing the EDM (Electronic Distance Measurement) component of the total stations. This study aimed to determine distances on the formed four directions in three different ways: with EDM default setting, with updated temperature parameter and update all three atmospheric parameters (temperature, pressure, and relative humidity). These three parameters were measured with a portable weather station WS2350. Some differences were found on atmospheric correction calculated with the three different methods used. It seems that atmospheric corrections (especially temperature value) can really improve the final result accuracy. Keywords: Electronic Distance Measurement, atmospheric corrections, surveying, atmospheric temperature influence on EDM, total station . 1
