CLOUD COMPUTING

Abstract:

Cloud Computing is a versatile technology that can support a broad-spectrum of applications. The two key advantages of this model are ease-of-use and cost-effectiveness. Though there remain questions on aspects such as security and vendor lock-in, this model offers many benefits. Cloud computing – a relatively recent term, builds on decades of research in virtualization, distributed computing, utility computing, and more recently networking, web and software services. Cloud computing is a general term for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the Internet.

Cloud Computing is a virtualized compute power and storage delivered via platform-agnostic infrastructures of abstracted hardware and software accessed over the Internet. These shared on-demand IT resources which are created and disposed efficiently. These are dynamically scalable through a variety of programmatic interfaces and are billed variably based on measurable usage. This paper explores some of the basics of cloud computing with the aim of introducing aspects such as Characteristics and Usage of the model. This paper aims to provide a means of understanding the model and exploring options available for complementing your technology and infrastructure needs. A cloud can be private or public. A public cloud sells services to anyone on the Internet. A private cloud is a proprietary network or a data center that supplies hosted services to a limited number of people.
