NutrientRich™ Grown with MicroSoil®
From its earliest beginnings, the organic movement was supported by consumer alarm over toxic residues from
farm chemical fertilizers, food additives, and the huge impact of industrial agribusiness with their GMO’s &
PBR’s on global economies and ecologies. The cause is simple and historical: declining soil quality and
increased processing and refining has led to major declining mineral and vitamin content of our foods, which
has led to a nutrient-poor diet and rising chronic sickness and degenerative diseases.
Today, more and more people are demanding higher-quality, better-tasting food. At Biomassters Global, our
goal is not only to guarantee authentic, safe foods in the marketplace, but to implement agriculture practices that
offer a new and higher standard of quality – superior foods that are NutrientRich™ (nutrient dense).
Understanding Brix – The Gold Standard for Measuring Plant Quality
You cannot buy or grow good food until you can first identify good food! Backed by 20+ Years of Results
Used as a standard in the agriculture industry, Degrees Brix (°Bx) is a measure of sugar content (1 degree Brix
= 1 gram of sucrose) and represents the strength, or nutrient density of plants. Plants with high-Brix (12 or
higher) have greater mineral density and taste better (even animals instinctively prefer them), plus they are even
help create insect and disease resistant growing conditions. Plants with low-Brix (less than 12) are nutrient poor,
and attract insects, fungi and diseases. For example, today’s average 2-3 Brix greenhouse tomato has virtually
no aroma and is nearly tasteless.
The crop with the higher Brix will have higher sugar content, higher mineral content, higher protein content,
and a greater density. This adds up to a sweeter tasting, more nutritious food with lower nitrate and water
content, lower freezing point, and better storage attributes.
Biological agriculture focuses on soil fertility management as primary in growing crops with higher yield, more
nutrients, fewer chemical fertilizers, and greater disease and pest resistance. By improving their soils, farmers
and growers are able to produce better tasting, nutrient dense high-Brix crops. Crop nutritional quality and plant
nutrient density can be routinely monitored by taking Brix readings with a simple hand-held refractometer.

Understanding BRIX and its True Value
Brix is the GOLD Standard for measuring plant quality
The BRIX Meter is used as a standard in the agriculture industry for determining the Degrees of
Brix (°Bx), which is a measure of sugar content (one degree Brix = 1 gram of sucrose) and
represents the strength, or nutrient density of plants. High-Brix plants have greater mineral
density, taste better (even animals instinctively prefer them), and they are insect and disease
resistant. Plants with low-Brix (less than 12) are generally considered to be nutrient poor, and
therefore tend to attract insects, fungi and diseases. For example, today’s average 2-3 Brix
greenhouse tomato has virtually no aroma and is nearly tasteless.
The MicroSoil® Life Enriching Agriculture Products and TailorMade™ Protocols are totally
synergistic with nature’s basic principles, rhythms, and processes for elevating soil fertility,
which is so vital for increasing the quality and production of true NutrientRich™ foods.
MISCELLANEOUS SIGNS OF HIGH QUALITY
CITRUS: A thinner rind indicates HIGHER QUALITY
CITRUS: Top quality citrus has five points at the calyx (stem end).
PEARS: A boxy shape is better.
STONE FRUITS: A split pit indicates poor quality and mineral insufficiency.
GRAINS: Dry grain QUALITY is relative to unit weight, i.e., if you weighed bushels of 2
equally dry wheat’s, the heavier bushel is HIGHER QUALITY. For instance, top quality
wheat from mineral-rich soil can be 70+ pounds per bushel. On the other hand, mineral poor
wheat can be as little as 60 or less pounds per bushel. The grain elevators pay meaningful
premiums when they can find higher quality wheat or other grains.
JUICES: Have your restaurant juice served over ice. HIGH BRIX juice will not taste watery.
VEGETABLES: A natural waxy coating is good. Packers, processors, and stores try to
duplicate this effect by mechanically waxing poor quality vegetables.
VEGETABLES: Any hollowness indicates a mineral deficiency (probably boron).
POTATOES: Sunken eyes signify lower quality (probably short on manganese).
MATURING GRAIN FIELDS: Dr. Skow says that a golden color is much to be desired.
ANY ITEM: Bright pure color, whether in cut flowers or cut watermelons suggests higher
quality.
ANY ITEM: Slime or mold can be washed off the surface, but it has grown throughout the
item. Reject such food. Remember that high brix produce will not rot in storage, therefore
rotting in storage is a sign of poor quality.
The below scenario occurs more often than you might think.
Are there Brix detractors? But of course there are! What should you expect if something
so simple came along and shook YOUR toxic chemical agriculture house of cards to its
very foundation?
For instance, several years ago a California State University researcher conducted a
"fair" evaluation of Brix in regards to grape leafhopper control. His conclusion: "no
difference."
Interestingly, even a high-school teenager could read his paper and notice that he
conducted his "tests" at 9 Brix. He failed to mention that all Brix advocates insist you
must maintain 12 Brix in the leaf to gain leaf sucking insect control.
University "research" programs have been bought, lock, stock, and barrel, by the toxic
chemical industry. Would YOU pay for a report that could cost you billions of dollars in
sales?
Are you serious about this? "High BRIX plants won't rot in storage" talk?
HOME TEST: For far too many years we have tolerated commercial "food" that quickly rots on trucks, shelves,
in storage areas and in our kitchens. This erroneous information has led us to believe and think that all produce
is supposed to rapidly decompose, however, the contrary is the “Real Truth”, actually high brix foods last and
store for a much longer period of time and low NRIX foods deteriorate much more rapidly.
When potatoes, peppers, oranges, even lettuces are set in the direct sun light, they tend to simply shriveled up as
they dry, however, tomatoes are an exception. It is believed that the water activity along with the increase in
mineral content plays a role in this. When Low BRIX fruits & vegetables are put in identical conditions, they
rapidly begin to decay and decompose.
Quality, Quality, Quality: this, indeed, is the needed revolution in Agriculture.

Within a given species of plant, the crop with the higher refractive index will have a higher sugar content, higher mineral content,
higher protein content, and a greater specific gravity or density. This adds up to a sweeter tasting, more minerally nutritious food
with lower nitrate and water content, lower freezing point, and better storage attributes.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the
United Nations (FAO) has declared 2015 as the
“International Year of Soils – Healthy Soils
for a Healthy Life” in order to increase
awareness and understanding of the importance of the soil for food security and essential ecosystem functions.
http://www.fao.org/soils-2015/en/
José Graziano da Silva, FAO Director-General:
“We speak a lot about the importance of sustainable food
systems for healthy lives. Well, it starts with soils. Soils are our
silent allies in food production. Soils are essential for growing
our food, yet they have no voice and few people speak out for
them. Soils constitute the foundation of vegetation and
agriculture. Forests need it to grow. We need it for food, feed,
fiber, fuel and much more. We need healthy soils to achieve our
food security and nutrition goals, to fight climate change and to
ensure overall sustainable development. We now have adequate platforms to raise awareness on the importance
of healthy soils and to advocate for sustainable soil management. Let us use them.”
CDFA’s OIM Program is now accredited as ISO
Two of Biomassters Global products, MicroSoil® and Pristine™ Soil Supplement
Concentrate, are certified by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) as
Organic Input Materials (OIM) in the State of California, meaning that California growers
are able to use them as input materials for growing their certified organic produce. CDFA’s
OIM program is also recently accredited to the International Organization for
Standardization (ISO) 17965 requirements. The official announcement reads:
The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is pleased to
announce the Feed, Fertilizer and Livestock Drugs Regulatory Services
(FFLDRS) Branch’s Organic Input Material (OIM) program was accredited
in March 2015 to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
17065 requirements. The United States Department of Agriculture
(USDA) – Agriculture Marketing Services accreditation confirms the CDFA’s OIM program is a reputable third
party entity capable of evaluating OIMs that are to be used in organic crop and food production.
Fertilizing materials distributed in California that are suitable for use as an OIM must be registered with
CDFA. In order to be registered as an OIM, CDFA must review the product and determine that it meets USDA
– National Organic Program (NOP) standards. The program currently has reviewed and approved over 1,200
OIMs for use in California. The public may check of the status of any fertilizing product by accessing the
programs web site at http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/is/ffldrs/fertilizer_OIM.html. A list of approved products is also
available on the program’s website. The legislation was designed to address concerns about integrity of
fertilizing materials marketed for use in certified organic growing. In accordance with the Food and Agricultural
Code, OIM products cannot be distributed in California unless they are registered with the CDFA.
