The event, much like an annual carnival for the special children under the chairmanship of Rtn. Vishwanath is getting bigger and broader every year. This time it was a state level athletic event for the special children in association with Sports and Cultural Academy for Differently Abled (SACADA).Also the event was a selection event for the International athletic meet that is scheduled in North America sometime this year. Nevertheless to complete the carnival special children of Mysore also participated in fun games and to top it we had cultural event on the second day evening. The event of the magnitude of more than 4lakhs Rs budget, people over 1400 at the venue during the peak of the event, voluntary participation in terms of finance and physical assistance from corporate like Infosys, 3 days of fulltime job for hardcore Rotarians, young Rotarians getting firsthand experience of organizing capabilities, logistics worked out to the last thread-is just the summary of the event. Day 1: Teams from different parts of Karnataka started landing in Mysore, as early as 4:30 am on 2nd, Friday. Reception committee chairman Rtn. Raju Baliga had worked out all the details to receive them at the railway station and lodge them at Nanjaraj Bahadur Choultry. Their breakfast, lunch were taken care by food committee chairman Rtn. Srinivasan. Rtn. GK was the reception committee chairman and he did his job thoroughly professionally. The Jatha scheduled at 4pm was flagged by his holiness Shri Shri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt. Shri. Mahabala Marla, Mayor Mangalore city, and President SACADA was the other dignitary present. Jatha chairmen Babanna and Kumaranna had done all the preparations including bandset, placards, banners, security etc. Procession of Special children, their caretakers, teachers, Rotarians, Innerwheel sisters, took a 2 km route through, Shivarampet, Urs road, DC office and Oval grounds. The idea of Jatha was to creat an awareness to the general public towards the special children fraternity in the community. At the end in the grounds the kids were given snacks –lip smacking bun and jam and nearly 1200 buns vanished in a jiffy. Night dinner was served to the residents of Choultry amounting nearly 300.

The second 2014–15 RI Board of Directors meeting was held on 27–30 October 2014 in Evanston, Illinois, USA. At this meeting, the Board reviewed 15 committee reports and recorded 82 decisions.

Programs and AwardsThe Board agreed to create a new member benefit

program that will provide participating Rotarians with discounts or reward points on a variety of products and services. Initial research and development on the program will begin immediately, with a planned program launch in July 2015.

The Board modified Rotary's calendar of special observances to designate specific months highlighting the Areas of Focus. The new special observance months are:

Ÿ September: Basic Education and LiteracyŸ October: Economic and Community DevelopmentŸ December: Disease Prevention and TreatmentŸ January: Vocational ServiceŸ February: Peace and Conflict Prevention/ResolutionŸ March: Water and SanitationŸ April: Maternal and Child HealthŸ May: Youth ServicesTo create a shared responsibility model for overseeing

Rotary alumni, the Board added alumni to the list of primary responsibilities for the Rotary coordinators and Rotary public image coordinators. And to encourage more alumni to attend the international convention, the Board set a single registration fee for all non-Rotarian alumni—regardless of their year of service—that is the same as the registration fee for Rotaractors, beginning at the 2016 convention in Seoul, Korea.

The Board chose 145 recipients for the 2014–15 Service Above Self Award. The award recipients' names will be published on the RI website on 1 July 2015 and in The Rotarian August 2015 edition.

Administration and FinancesThe Board elected Ron D. Burton, Örsçelik Balkan,

Mario César de Camargo, and Thomas M. Thorfinnson to be trustees of The Rotary Foundation, beginning 1 July 2015.

The Board expanded the Innovation and Flexibility pilot program from 200 to 1,000 clubs.

Mandarin Chinese was added to the list of official languages in which Rotary provides translations of essential club and district information.

The Board approved a change in the "additional per capita dues," as provided for in the RI Bylaws, to pay for the projected expenses of the Council on Legislation from $1.00 to $1.50, effective 1 July 2015.The Board accepted the audited financial statements and report on Rotary International's financial results for 2013–14. An annual report will be published in accordance with the RI Bylaws
