Midtown Best Industrialist Award to Mr Abhilash Nair

The meeting started with Rtn Rakesh Babu making a power point presentation on Mr Abhilash Nair and his Company Zeus Biotech Pvt. of which he is the Managing Director. Rtn Rakesh Babu made it an interactive session with Mr Nair explaining that Zeus Biotech produced and sold Animal feed supplements with the company being started by his father Mr Jayprakash Nair in 1991. Mr Abhilash helped his father in the running of the business for a few years before assuming full responsibilities when his father's health deteriorated. He overcame many difficulties with the help of his team members who were present in good numbers and dedicated the award to them. His dream is to see his company Zeus as one of the top players in the global animal care industry.

The award was presented by Mr Arjun M Ranga, Partner in the Mysore based NR Group which owns the

world's largest incense stick brand “Cycle Pure Agarbathies”. Mr Arjun Ranga was full of praise for Mr Nair and acknowledged his role in taking Zeus to new heights. He recounted his own experiences as a teenager when at the age of 15, his father handed him some money and encouraged him to travel worldwide on his own. After a stint in the USA, he eventually joined his family as a partner in managing NR Group. He also spoke of the challenges faced in becoming a private /public ltd. company from the present partnership venture.

A cricketer himself, he was instrumental in bringing cricket to Mysore in the form of KPL where he owns the Mysore Warriors club. His other passions include photography, golf and tennis.

MC of the day Rtn Rakesh anchored the programme in a very professional way and there were applauds from all corners. Arjun himself replied post event “ Thanks rock..it was very organised precise event”. Rtn. Harish intoduced the chief guest in his characteristic inimitable way bringing out Ranga's details of biography which were not in print. Also quizzed him with few bouncers which Ranga had to answer in his speech. Finally it was again a very well scripted vote of thanks from the president in waiting Rtn. Umesh. On the whole it was a well organised programme, kudos to Ramki, Venky, ThaNa Mo and not to forget very well crafted plaque by designer Rtn. Srinivas.

RI President's Monthly MessageNovember - 2014

Four months into this year of working to Light Up Rotary, I am more excited about R o t a r y t h a n e v e r before. I've been to 22 c o u n t r i e s , v i s i t e d dozens of cities, and m e t t h o u s a n d s o f Rotarians. I've seen amazing projects and been inspired over and o v e r a ga i n b y t h e terrific work Rotarians

do all over the world. And I've been privileged to be part of all kinds of Rotary events, from club meetings to Rotary institutes, from Rotary Days to Foundation dinners.

Every event is memorable. I feel especially honored when I am invited to share in club celebrations. To me, taking part in a Rotary club celebration as Rotary International president is like being invited to a family event as an honored guest. Indeed, Rotary is the biggest family in the world.

You could say that Rotary is built of service: Each project is another brick in the big building that is Rotary. If our service forms the bricks, then there is no question that friendship is the mortar that holds those bricks together. I see this every day, but nowhere more clearly than at some of the most special Rotary club events: their centennial celebrations.

Being president of Rotary International in its 110th year, I've been lucky to take part in a number of these. It is natural, when visiting long-serving clubs, to want to know what their secret is – because I have always noticed that the longest-serving clubs are also some of the most productive. They are large, they are active, and they do great work. Not only that, but they have a great time doing it.

Of course, that is their secret: In Rotary, strong friendships and great service go hand in hand. When we enjoy our work, we want to do it. We want to work harder, and we want to work better. We look forward to Rotary meetings.
