MEETING WITH MS NIRMALA SITARAMAN:

The union minister visited Bengaluru on 20th Oct on her official visit to address the grievances of Coffee trade. We got an out of turn opportunity to meet her at Hotel Lalit Ashok.

She invited us for lunch after her engagements and gave us the opportunity to talk to her in leisure post lunch in the lobby of her room. I took the opportunity to take up two significant issues related to my field. I highlighted the difficulties of Mfg sector in the country and few important obstacles to be cleared in order to achieve our PM's dream project 'Make in India'. Further as a corollary i discussed with her on the banking sector support required to meet the objectives. On behalf of Mfg sector i appealed to her to consider extending CGTS scheme (Credit Guarantee to Bankers from the Govt) to entire MSME sector with suitable checks and balances. Further i presented a paper giving details on this aspect.

Overall it was a wonderful 45 minutes spent with a Minister who is articulate, responsive and down to earth, eager to serve the Nation. I thank my sister Shakuntala Iyer for organizing this meeting and the photo opp.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FROM UTTISHTA BHARATA

The organization involves young volunteers carrying the message of PM of India to grass root levels and spreading awareness on various govt initiatives. Realizing the challenges involved in implementing 'Make in India' project and drive the entrepreneurial spirit amongst the youth of the country, the group is organizing several programs.

Midtowners in news... In one such program i was one of the panellists in Bangalore to address a group of would be entrepreneurs. I spoke on basic info/knowledge required by a would be entrepreneur apart from the idea. A well organized and attended program, gave me a lot of satisfaction on sharing my thoughts. - SBC
