David HOWELL - European TourDavid is a former 2 time Ryder Cup player, and previous winner of World Championship event (2006 HSBC Champions, Shanghai). He had been enduring a 5 year slump since that win and in Nov 2011 engaged Jon as his full time coach to look to re-build his career. He won for the 1st time in 7 years at the 2013 Dunhill Links Trophy. Unfortunately David suffered a wrist injury the week after that win and has been injury ridden since although it looks as though at last his medical team has finally got to the bottom of his injury issue.

Richard BLAND - European TourRichard has been oscillating between the European Tour and the Challenge Tour over the last decade and engaged Jon to assist him consolidate his place on the European Tour and to assist him achieve his first win. He hasn’t yet achieved that although in the first part of this season he has already had 2 x 5th places.

Oliver WILSON - Challenge TourOliver is a former Ryder Cup winner (2008) who from 2009 onwards regressed every season consequently losing his card in 2012. Oliver engaged Jon in June 2013 which at that time he had missed every cut both in European tour and Challenge Tour events for 8 months. Since June 2013 he has started to progress and lost a play-off for the Northern Ireland Open in September 2013 and finished 5th in the Kazakhstan Open. Oliver went on to win the 2014 Dunhill Links Trophy which secured his European Tour Card. Oliver adds, “Jon took me on when I was at rock bottom and helped me turn the corner. We broke things down and focused on the correct areas to help get things moving in the right direction. This laid a foundation that enabled me to turn my career around and get my first win at the Dunhill Links”.

We look to create individualised models for each player and look to empower the player and create the environment for success through cognitive and skill development.

To be the best a player can be they need to have a balanced plan to develop the technical, mental and management areas of the game. The ECGA Coaching curriculum assists player’s to develop their own personalised systems and plans in each of these areas.

4. Coaching about taking a player from A to B

As a coach you MUST assist the player to perform better - ‘lowest score wins most money’. Not everyone will be able to play the main Tour but if you assist a player improve, irrespective of age or starting level then you have done your job as a coach.
