About the WyoView Project

The 2018 WyoView project unites art and conservation to cultivate

a deeper sense of place in Northwest Wyoming. Formerly branded

as View22, JHLT updated the project name to WyoView to reflect

the regional focus of the organization’s conservation work across

Northwest Wyoming. This year, each WyoView artist was paired

with a JHLT-protected property in Northwest Wyoming, including

Teton, Sublette, and Fremont counties, and asked to create place-

based art.

The 2018 project theme was Four Seasons and prompted each

artist to paint one piece per season, showcasing the seasonal

changes on one property over the course of an entire year.

WyoView facilitates visual and emotional connections that enable

people to experience Northwest Wyoming’s beautifully unique

open spaces through the paintbrushes of some of the region’s

most talented local artists with the outcome of raising greater

awareness of the importance of open space protection.

Now in its sixth year, the WyoView project was launched in 2013

together with local artists Kathryn Turner, Jennifer Hoffman, and

Bill Sawczuk. Inspiration for this project originally came from

Kathryn Turner of Trio Fine Art who was influenced by

artist Thomas Moran, whose sketches, watercolors, and landscape

paintings of the rugged beauty of the Yellowstone region captured

the imagination of the country – and Congress – and played an

important role in the establishment of Yellowstone and Grand

Teton National Parks. An organic partnership, it was proposed to

the Land Trust by the artists of Trio Fine Art out of recognition of

the importance of open space protection in our valley for wildlife,

for the community, and for themselves as landscape artists.

In 2014, Kay Northup, Lee Riddell, and Travis Walker joined the

project. In 2015, we expanded the project in celebration of the

Jackson Hole Land Trust’s 35th anniversary to showcase 35 local

artists working in a variety of visual media. The 2016 View22: Open

Studio Project included 19 local artists and explored easement-

protected open access properties throughout Teton County. 2017

gave artists access to properties over the course of an entire

summer, traveling to their assigned locations frequently. The 2018

project is the first year that artists have painted each season,

observing the natural cycles that take place in our backyards.

Paired with a WyoView blog, artists share their experiences and

paintings through regular photo updates and posts. In addition,

the Land Trust and WyoView artists have hosted artist

demonstrations at several protected property locations. The

project culminates each year with a fundraising art show that

benefits the Land Trust’s future land protection projects in

Northwest Wyoming in addition to supporting local artists.

The WyoView: Four Seasons Exhibit is a celebration of art and conservation.

The Jackson Hole Land Trust is grateful to the local artists who have

dedicated their time and talents to create place-based art in support of our

work. We are also grateful to the conservation landowners of the WyoView

locations for allowing us to access their land for this project—and for having

the vision and generosity to protect these cherished open spaces for the

benefit of our communities, artists, and wildlife.

30% of the proceeds from the WyoView: Four Seasons Exhibit will be donated

by these artists to the Jackson Hole Land Trust (unless noted as a full

donation). Thank you for considering supporting local artists and our work to

protect the scenic, ranching, and wildlife values of Jackson Hole.

Dimensions listed are of the canvas or image size.

Prices listed include framing (when applicable).
