ObjectivesMobility is currently dominated by a number of powerful trends. Urbanization and de-carbonization are calling for new concepts. Beyond sustainability, competition is increasingly focusing on all-encompassing service, maximized use of drive time, digital real-time economy and deep integration within the internet of things. Under the hood, this is providing some exciting and challenging prospects for technology developers in the automotive segment. Cognitive capabilities are promising to let the robots in our cars interact with humans in a natural, intuitive way. The future of intelligent cars has just begun. Further, in order to cope with the more pertinent challenges of the immediate future with respect to the reduction of GHG (Green House Gas) emissions from the transportation sector, a plethora of innovations especially in the areas of hybrid power trains, alternative fuels, and electric mobility are being explored and debated. It is in this background that SAE-NIS along with MSIL,IOCL R &D &ICAT are jointly organizing the “1st Summer School In Automotive Technology”during 12-16th June 2018 to reinforce the need for continued knowledge sharing and interaction from various stakeholders in the automotive segment. The programme is intended to provide a national platform for interaction between renowned automotive technologists of the country and participants, comprising senior teaching professionals and practicing engineers from Indian industry. The program will include visits to automotive industries. There will be an Objective Type (multiple choice questions) Test on the last day based on the topics covered during the program. Details will be provided during the program.

Who should attend?Faculty in Mechanical/Automobile department teaching IC Engine design/Combustion/Thermal Engineering and research scholars pursuing PhD in Automotive Technology (limited to maximum 10 research scholars).Practicing engineers/managers working in IC engine design, transmission systems, electric vehicles, fuels & lubricants, testing & certification of vehicles should attend for burgeoning their knowledge base.

Topics to be coveredFuels, Alternatives, Lubricants - Session will include

details of biofuels, gaseous fuels along with lubricants for

different automotive applications.

Legislative testing - Session will include details of Type

approvals & COP for automobiles.

Vehicle & Engine design, simulation technology, ATDs,

Transmission - Session will include details of Electronic

engine management system, GDI Engines, HEV & PEV

technology, Dual-fuel technology along with After

treatment strategy for meeting future emission norms.
