This FGASA endorsed course aims to develop and practice skills and gain knowledge to attain the FGASA Apprentice Trails Guide status. At the same time enhance skills and knowledge learnt on the EcoTraining Field Guide Course. Environmental knowledge, situational awareness and environmental appreciation will increase exponentially while on course, whether your interests are as a career guide working towards a qualification or for self-satisfaction and learning. The FGASA Apprentice Trails Guide Status is the stepping stone in the process for guides to acquire their FGASA Lead Trails Guide qualification. Participants considering acquiring their FGASA Apprentice Trails Guide Status need to have attained their FGASA Apprentice Field Guide (NQF 2) certificate before enrolment onto this programme. ABOUT THE COURSE ECOTRAINING TRAILS GUIDE COURSE DURATION LOCATION PREREQUISITES 28-Days Course takes place between one to two of the following camps depending on calendar: • Selati Game Reserve, South Africa • Makuleke Concession, northern Kruger Park, South Africa • Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana • Fit and able to walk for at least 5km. • Be over the age of 18 years and older unaccompanied by an adult. • Full FGASA Apprentice Field Guide (NQF2) Certificate. • PFTC Unit Standards 117705, 119651, 123519. • FGASA ARH Certificate (or to be attained durning the course). • FGASA fees paid up-to-date (current membership fees, exam and moderation fees). Mashatu Camp Selati Camp Certification and Accreditation EcoTraining is a FGASA registered and endorsed training provider. We are also accredited with CATHSSETA (Tourism and Hospitality and Sport Education Training Authority) for the NQF2 Nature Guide Site Qualification (Field Guide), thereby meeting the required standard. FGASA, a Section 21 company, was formally established in 1990 by a group of professional guides aiming to set a standard for nature guiding practice. FGASA represents individual tourist guides; nature, culture and adventure guides; trackers; and organisations involved in offering professional guiding services to members of the public. FGASA is an accredited provider with CATHSSETA. It has set guiding standards for many years and continues to maintain the highest standards within the guiding industry. In conjunction with CATHSSETA within the National Qualifications Framework, FGASA promotes the standards or guiding throughout Southern Africa.
