artistry In 1956, a group of seven prominent Hong

Kong businessmen came together with a common goal: to preserve the centuries-old Chinese art of hand-made carpets from almost certain extinction. Thus, Tai Ping was born from the Chinese tradition that teaches us to honour the past. We continue to revere our ancestors, their customs and their artistry.

Our founders had an even loftier mission: to provide opportunities to villagers with virtually no prospects for work on mainland China. Founding Tai Ping was their way of helping to create jobs while preserving the integrity and pride of these craftsmen.

integrity Early in our history, Tai Ping pitched a tent

at Castle Peak to accommodate a customer’s request for a carpet that was too large to create in the company’s Hong Kong workshop.

When a typhoon raged through the city, endangering the carpet, everyone worked to protect the treasure from the elements. Thanks to extraordinary teamwork and sheer willpower, the carpet was delivered safely to the client.
