Composition Book• You will need a composition book
for science. • If you need one provided for you,
please see me privately.• Pick up your composition book
from your class bin every day and return it NEATLY to your class bin before you leave
• I recommend that you leave it at school. I STRONGLY encourage you to take it home before a test, but you will be expected to bring it back the next day
• Sharpen pencils, if needed, before you get seated
• I have handheld sharpeners to borrow
• If you come to class unprepared, you may borrow a pencil/pen from me, but we will make a trade during class…
cell phone, Ipod, shoe …something you care about
(we will trade back at the end of class)
• Immediately begin any warm up work, time will be limited
• The days agenda and daily objectives are written on the board every day
When Supplies are on the Desk• Scissors
– Please don’t cut or poke holes into any paper or objects unless I have instructed you to do so
• Glue Sticks– It doesn’t take much– Do not smash it down hard
• Highlighters and Markers– Please put caps back on
• The supply box is NOT your personal trash can!!!!
• Attendance will be taken during warmup time– Please make
every effort to come to school
– When is it appropriate to stay at home?
– When should we come to school?
• Turn in assignments directly to me!!! • All assignments need your first AND last name
along with your class period. When you are world famous, you may go by your first name only.
– Missing name 3 points off
– Missing class period 3 points off
– 10 points off if it’s both– If I cannot assess who
it belongs to, and no one claims it, it will be thrown away!!!!
• Graded work will be in the black tray under your class periods turn in trays
• I will pass these out as quickly as I can • We often trade and grade and I am able to enter
your grades and return papers immediately • You will need a red pen to do this• NO HIGHLIGHTERS TO GRADE• Only put an “X” on the incorrect answer, or
put the correct answer, if instructed to do so• Do NOT draw on someone else’s paper• DO NOT recycle graded work until the
grading period is over• You may need these papers later to study, study,
study • Teacher error - entering grades• Student error – turning in assignment
• I expect homework to be complete and turned in on time
• Make up work– I will have a tan colored form
with your name on it and the missing assignments attached to it
– It’s YOUR responsibility to pick it up and turn it in within the timeframe stated in the handbook
– If you need another copy of an assignment, they are in a file by title and date on the table.
– Do NOT take the last one.
Late Work• 1 day late -
Maximum of 80 And you will be assigned to Zero to Hero
• 2 days late – Maximum of 70
• 3 days late – Maximum of 60
• After 3 days – ZERO
Failed Assignments
• After studying the material, you may attend tutoring and redo the assignment with me for a maximum grade of 70
• Please do not wait until the final day …there just isn’t time
Extra Credit
• Offered randomly within the classroom
• Science Fair• I generally do not
offer individualized extra credit when you are failing, due to other opportunities I have available for you to be successful

Standards for Student Conduct Each student is expected to:
Demonstrate courtesy, even when others do not. Behave in a responsible manner, always exercising self-discipline.
Attend all classes, regularly and on time. Prepare for each class; take appropriate
materials and assignments to class. Meet district and campus standards of grooming and dress.
Obey all campus and classroom rules. Respect the rights and privileges of students, teachers,
and other district staff and volunteers. Respect the property of others, including
district property and facilities. Cooperate with and assist the school staff in
maintaining safety, order, and discipline. Adhere to the requirements of the Student Code of Conduct.
What does a Lynn Lucas Lynx look like?
1. All clothing must be neat, clean, modest, and fit (not too tight or oversized) in proportion to the student.
2. Halter-tops, tank tops, tube tops, fishnet shirts, and half-shirts are prohibited. Any shirt that displays undergarments
and/or torso is prohibited. 3. Pants or shorts will be worn at or above the waist
and fastened appropriately. 4. Students will not dress alike or wear combinations of colors that denote group affiliation, except for school-approved organizations
and/or activities. 5. Dusters and trench coats are prohibited.
6. No article of clothing will display vulgar or inappropriate language, violence, or obscenities of any kind.
7. No article of clothing will refer to or advertise tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, narcotics, or any other prohibited substance.
What does a Lynn Lucas Lynx look like?8. Students must be fully clothed with no bare midriff showing when the
student goes through normal activities of a school day (bending, stretching, reaching, etc.).
9. Students’ shorts, skirts, or dresses must be mid thigh or longer in length. (Administrators have the authority to decide what is acceptable
in length.) Biker, jogging, or boxer shorts (tights) are not permitted if worn by themselves. Soccer-style shorts are acceptable provided they
meet the length requirement. (Due to some physical activities, the wearing of shorts under dresses is encouraged.)
10. Clothing with distracting or intentional holes or tears is not allowed. 11. Para-military attire is prohibited.
12. No sleepwear. 13. No house shoes!
14. Unnatural hair color is prohibited! 15. Do not carve gang symbols or numbers in your hair!
16. Only earring are allowed!

QUIET!• There will be times that
zero noise level will be necessary– I will say “Class”, and
you all will stop what you are doing and look at me and respond with the word “YES.” I will then instruct you with whatever is needed.
• If I feel that you, as an individual, need to stop whatever you are doing or saying…I will call your name and say “Filter”– This means you need to
filter your brain of whatever thought you may have before speaking or acting upon it
Filter
• Raise your hand for permission to speak!
• Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat!!!
• Hand up = Mouth shut! (NO Mrs. Cobb… Mrs Cobb… Mrs Cobb…)
Chairs• Ummmm…… NO!Repeat offenders lose chair privileges for 10
minutes – You will have to stand!
• Visiting the nurse– Unless I see you throwing
up or bleeding profusely… you’re not going
– Our nurse is VERY busy, we need to limit going to the nurse for when we are REALLY hurt or sick
• Bathroom– You have 3 minutes
between classes to do this• I’m a good judge of true
necessity in both cases
• Your stuff in our classroom– Please keep belongings out of
the walk areas• It’s a tripping hazard• Safety issue in science
– Cell phones are FORBIDDEN– You may chew gum…until I find
it on/under the table, on a shoe, on the floor, etc.
– You may drink plain clear water (no color additives)
– No food
– NO EXCEPTIONS – NO FOOD, GUM, or DRINKS during Labs
Twitter Tuesday’s
• I will have “Twitter Tuesdays”, and tweet or retweet something going on in science. It may be a link to read or just a question I have.
• On Friday, I will ask a question related to my tweet, and the person with the correct response will receive a treat and possibly earn leadership points.
WHINE FREE ZONE!!
• This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason.
• Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please…respect the “No Whining Zone”.
• Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.
Class Dismissal• I will have an alarm set when
we are at the two minute mark
• I will then play a “Good Bye” song– That is when you may
pack up– Return binders to your
shelf• When it is over, FREEZE, to
see if I have any more reminders
• Then I will dismiss
