Procedures
About Me• I’m engaged• I grew up in Jessamine
County• I have 7 sisters and 1
brother• I’ve participated in sports
during my youth and played football in College
• I played football at Georgetown two different times; 1982-1983 and 1998-1999
• I’ve been in Sports Ill., Herald-Leader
• I received my BA and Masters degrees from Georgetown College
• I’ve coached HS and MS track, HS and MS football, and basketball for many years
• This is my 14th year teaching and they all been at TPS
• I enjoy lifting weights and training people in lifting weights or getting/staying fit
My Kids
• I have two kids who both received academic scholarships and attend the University of Louisville
• My son Devin is a senior and my daughter Dominique is a junior
• My kids were active in soccer, track and basketball all through school
Entering the Classroom…• If door is shut, you are
tardy!• Bring signed note from
wherever you came (e.g. principal office). Enter class quietly, give me note, get materials (folder, writing materials, etc), quietly find a seat and start working
• Write down the Learner Outcome/target and POD from board
Discovery Skills
• Discovery skills will be used at all times
• When person doing the instruction raises hand, you raise hand, get quiet, and face instructor
• Encourage others and show peers Dignity and Respect at all times
Grading
• Participation is a must to pass the class, no exceptions
• All assignments must be passed with a Mastery or Approaching Mastery
Classroom Ambassador
• Greet guest at door; state your name and what the class is doing, then take information and communicate with teacher
• Answer phone if teacher is teaching
• Place all finished class work in class folder to be graded
• Who is it?
Leaving Class Early • If you have to leave class,
(bathroom, focus, sick, office, principal, etc), you must get your process points sheet signed
• Sign the sign in/out sheet with correct time, and then sign back in when you get back
• If you are sick, we’ll call office and they’ll call back for you
• If it is something other, we’ll conference with you to solve the problem
Leaving Class Early
• If you “really” have to leave class, (restroom, water, VF, sick, etc), politely let me know
• Sign in/out sheet• Get your process points
sheet signed • Sign back in on return
Focus Room
• If you receive an automatic FR from us, fill out FR form and wait patiently while we call to make sure it’s available
• If you request a VR, we will conference with you and, if deemed appropriate, fill out FR form and we will contact FR for availability
• If FR is not available we will conference to solve the problem
Safety DrillsWe take these drills seriously
Fire Drill-Exit left quickly out double
doors to Pavilion-Gather at the back right
corner of the pavilion to take attendance again
Severe Weather/TornadoDrill
-Quickly and quietly go to hallway
-Get on knees, face wall , crouch down and cover head
Lockdown Drill-Stay in class-Cut off lights-Go to back corner of room away from view of window and sit quietly-Wait for further instructions
Lockout Drill-Lock door-Keep teaching/working
Leaving Classroom for Weight Room or Gym
•Put all materials back to correct place/shelves•Push chairs in and place desks or tables back in order•Quickly and quietly exit classroom to weight room or gym
Weight Room Procedures
• NO horseplay• Always use a spotter • Use correct form at all
times• Start with low weight• Check your heart rate• Drink water• Safety 1st
Exiting Class
• 5 minute alert means clean up room
• Put room back in order• Clean off machines• Place weights back on
racks or shelves• Move equipment back
to spots
