primary eye care due to lack of availability of trained professionals.
ISDT’s mission :
• To help people see better through creating highly trained manpower
in eye care sector.
• ISDT is pioneer in developing training programmes in eye care field
• ISDT operates College of Optometry, Nasik since last 15 years
• ISDT has collaborations with various Optical Associations to train
their members and to create job opportunities for students at retail
shops.

ISDT is a national training partner of National Skill DevelopmentCorporation (NSDC) through Ministry of Skill and EntrepreneurshipDevelopment under Skill India Mission.

Course Details BSS Diploma in Optometry is a basic course in Optometry
• Duration: 2 Yrs
• Mode: flexible learning/full time
• Study material: online/soft copies
• Assessment: monthly assessment
• Exams: final exams in April
• Passing percentage: 40%
• Tools: apron, pen torch & ID card (provided by college)/,

5) Optometric Instruments
6) Clinical Ophthalmology: Ocular conditions & diseases
7) Eye testing: vision, refraction, history taking
8) Optometry workshop
9) Community optometry
10)Optometric nursing: assisting ophthalmologist
Scope
After completing Diploma in Optometry, candidate is expected to do
following :
• Vision, History taking & Refraction
• Use of instruments like: slit lamp, keratometer, lensometer, retinoscope,
• Ophthalmoscope & other OPD instruments
• Can do complete work up independently/ under Ophthalmologist
• Assist Ophthalmologist in OPD & surgery as OT assistant
• Patient counseling
• Detection of eye conditions like cataract, red eye etc. and send referral
cases to Ophthalmologist.
• Eye testing and spectacle Dispensing
• Can get jobs in Hospitals, Ophthalmic clinics, Optical outlets and abroad
• etc.
The certificate can be registered with National Employment Exchange
throughout India.
Admission Process
• completed application form with documents should reach before 15th April
• Attach DD of Rs. 36000/- in favor of ISDT
• Attach attested 10th science & mark-sheet, pan card,
• Aadhar card, experience certificate if any,
• 4 passport size photographs.
• Once all the documents with fees received, ISDT will allot registration no.&
ID card within 45 days of submission of form
• College will send study material in soft copies
• and monthly assignments
• College will intimate students regarding workshops as scheduled.

• Create captive manpower for the Hospital
• Can do complete work up independently /under
Ophthalmologist
• Assist in Ophthalmologist in OPD & Surgery as OT Assistant
• Create manpower for eye testing camp manpower for
detection of eye conditions like
• cataract red eye etc. and send referral cases to
Ophthalmologist
• Patient counseling on the basis on scientific knowledge
• Refractionist provides vision care and refraction under the
supervision of an ophthalmologist.
