    Baijayant Jay Panda was elected to the Lower House of Parliament (Lok Sabha)

    from Kendrapara Constituency, Odisha in May 2009. Earlier, Panda had been twice

    elected to Parliament, Upper House (Rajya Sabha) in 2000 and 2006, also from the

    State of Odisha. He is a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) party. Panda represents

    the new face of Indian politicians, several of whom have been educated abroad and

    have had alternate careers before choosing to serve the nation through politics. He

    graduated from the Michigan Technological University and, with a background in

    Engineering and Management, worked in the corporate sector before joining politics.

    He assisted the late Biju Patnaik and subsequently Naveen Patnaik, who founded the

    Biju Janata Dal party, which has found strong acceptance from the people of Odisha

    and has been repeatedly voted back in elections.

    Panda had helped to form the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) and was its

    Convener; he has also been associated with the India-USA Forum of

    Parliamentarians and is its Chairman. He was awarded the Bharat Asmita National

    Award for best parliamentary practices by the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India in 2008.

    Since its inception in 2007, Panda has been associated with the Citizens' Alliance

    Against Malnutrition, an advocacy group including many parliamentarians across

    parties, Bollywood actors, other celebrities, civil society activists and non

    governmental organizations.

    In his earlier corporate career, Panda was active in industry organizations like the

    Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the International Chromium Development

    Association. In the past he has also been associated with the Govt. of Odisha's

    Industrial Advisory Committee and been a Director on the Industrial Promotion &

    Investment Corporation of Odisha (IPICOL).

    As a parliamentarian, he has been a member of many important committees like the

    Parliamentary Committees on Energy, Urban Development and Finance. In

    parliament and public life, Panda passionately espouses the cause of his home state

    S Gopalakrishnan (Kris), along with N R Narayana Murthy and five others founded

    Infosys in 1981. He served as the Director (Technical) and his initial responsibilities

    included the management of design, development, implementation and support of

    information systems for clients in the consumer products industry in the US.

    Between 1987 and 1994, he served as the Vice President for Technical Operations of

    KSA/Infosys, a joint venture between Infosys and KSA located in Atlanta, US. In 1994,

    he returned to India and was appointed Deputy Managing Director of Infosys.

    Before becoming the CEO and Managing Director in July 2007, he served as the

    company's Chief Operating Officer, President and Joint Managing Director

    responsible for customer services, technology, investments and acquisitions. He took

    over as the Executive Co-Chairman on August 21, 2011.

    Recognized as a global business and technology thought leader, he was recently

    voted the top CEO (IT Services category) in Institutional Investor's inaugural ranking

    of Asia's Top Executives. He was also selected to Thinkers 50, an elite list of global

    business thinkers compiled by Des Dearlove and Stuart Crainer, in association with

    the IE Business School, Madrid and the London Business School's Management

    Innovation Lab in 2009.

    In January 2011, the Government of India awarded Kris the Padma Bhushan, the

    country's third highest civilian honor. He has also represented Infosys and the country

    at various international forums. In April 2012, Kris was appointed as a member of the

    reconstituted United Nations Global Compact Board for three years. He is also a

    Chandrajit Banerjee is the Director General of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

    He has been with the CII for over 25 years and has been the Director General, CII

    since May 2008. As Director General, he is responsible for overall operations of CII.

    Prior to his appointment as Director General, he held several senior positions in CII.

    He has been responsible for important areas of work including the Sectoral Verticals -

    Manufacturing, Services, Agriculture and Life Sciences Sectors and the SMEs and

    has led key policy work of CII in the areas of Economic Policy, Financial Services and

    Corporate Governance (he was also the First Executive Director of the National

    Foundation of Corporate Governance - NFCG, an organization set up by the Ministry

    of Company Affairs, Government of India). He continues to be in the Board of Trustees

    of NFCG as a Founder Trustee.

    Earlier, he has served as Head of CII's regional operations in the Northern, Southern

    and Western Regions. He was also in Bangalore to initiate the Centre of Excellence of

    K Vaman Kamath is the Chairman of ICICI Bank, India's largest private sector bank

    and Infosys Ltd, one of India's largest technology services companies. He is also on

    the board of Schlumberger Ltd, Chairs the Credit and Risk Committees at ICICI bank

    amongst others and Chairs the Finance Committee at Schlumberger apart from being

    on its Audit Committee. As part of public service, he is the Chairman of the Society and

    After graduating from IIMA in 1971, he started his career with ICICI in the Project

    Finance division and gained extensive experience within the company, including

    handling general management positions. As part of his general management

    responsibilities, he initiated and implemented ICICI's technology program.

    In 1988, Kamath joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila, within their

    Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at ICICI. The strategic initiatives and

    structural changes subsequently instituted by him across the ICICI Group have

    helped ICICI to redraw its boundaries.

    He retired as Managing Director & CEO in April 2009 and assumed his present

    He was conferred the Padma Bhushan, one of India's highest civilian honors in 2008.

    Prakash Javadekar is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from

  • Rati Forbes graduated with Psychology and Sociology from Bombay university - and

    has further done special courses in Human Resources and Organisational Behaviour.

    She has been a Director at Forbes Marshall (FM); and has been involved in

    overseeing the Human Resources function till 2010. During this time, Forbes Marshall

    was thrice selected one of India's Top 25 Great Places to Work; most recently bagging

    11th rank in 2011 and 5th rank in 2012.

    Today, Rati focuses full time on the social initiatives the company has been developed

    and grown over the last 30 years. Rati also heads the Foundation which Forbes

    Marshall set up three years ago. She has initiated several programmes for under-

    priveleged women and children from neighboring communities; the focus areas being

    health, education and women's empowerment.

    The social initiatives team at Forbes Marshall is involved with several programs -

    some of them are a reading/learning enhancement programme in a hundred

    municipal schools in Pune; catalysing 200 self-help groups for women, a gender

    sensitisation programme for 8th and 9th standard students which continues to run

    each year in about 30 to 40 municiapl and low cost private schools. FM was also the

    first company in India to be recognised by the Social audit network of UK and awarded

    a certification after a rigorous process in 2010.

    Rati chaired CII Western region's cell for Social development from 2002 to 2006; the

    main objective being to sensitise corporates to their social responsibility. She

    continues to be actively involved with CII's outreach programs for skill development,

    leading to employability. Rati is also on the board of several foundations - some of

    them are Mobile Creche Pune, the advisory board for Akanksha Pune, Centre for

    created for the women below poverty line, who only had an aspiration to become

    She is a pioneer in the Women's Fleet Taxi Service which is a large platform for

    providing employment to women from below poverty line families in this unique

    and has exited from that as well.

    She is a recipient of many awards, the latest being the Godfrey Philips National

    Bravery Award. Revathi has also won the Entrepreneur of the Year 2007-08 by

    Club of Mumbai Airport 2009, Parmanand Foundation Certificate of honour and the

    Veerangana award.

  • A thorough-bred Puneite, Ritu Nathani is a Dentist by qualification and an Elocution

    Teacher by passion. Ritu had started her active participation in theatre and drama

    during her school days. And eventually, her sabbatical from dentistry after the birth of

    her second child drove her back to her childhood passion.

    For over a decade, she has been a communication teacher running her own speech

    and drama classes and training children for speech exams conducted by The Trinity

    Sam Pitroda is an internationally respected development thinker, policy maker,

    telecom inventor and entrepreneur who has spent over four decades in Information

    and Communications Technology and related human and national development

    initiatives. Credited with having laid the foundation of Indias technology and

    telecommunications revolution in the 1980s, he has been a leading campaigner to

    help bridge the global digital divide.

    During his tenure as Adviser to Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the 1980s, Pitroda

    headed six technology missions related to telecommunications, water, literacy,

    immunization, dairy and oil seeds. He was also the Founder and first Chairman of

    Indias Telecom Commission. In these roles, he helped revolutionize Indias

    development policies and philosophies with a focus on access to technology as the

    key to social change.

    Pitroda was the Chairman of Indias National Knowledge Commission (2005- 2009),

    an advisory body to the Prime Minister of India, set up to provide a blueprint for reform

    of the knowledge related institutions and infrastructure in the country. The

    Commission has offered a series of recommendations on various aspects of the

    knowledge paradigm to help India meet the challenges of the 21st century.

    He is currently Adviser to the Prime Minister of India on Public Information

    Infrastructure and Innovations and has undertaken the ambitious task of providing a

    plan for creating digital infrastructure in the country for enhancing governance and

    improving delivery of public services. He is also the Chairman of the National

    Innovation Council (NInC) which is working on several initiatives to boost innovation

    performance in the country. He is also the Chairman of the Smart Grid Task Force set

    up under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. He has also been

    appointed as one of the founding Commissioners of the United Nations Broadband

    Commission for Digital Development.

    Supriya Sule is a politician and a social initiative leader, and is currently a Member of

    Parliament (MP) in the 15th Lok Sabha. She was also elected to the Rajya Sabha in

    2006. Supriya is also a member of various Committees such as the one on

    Empowerment of Women, External Affairs, and Ethics as also a member of the

    Consultative Committee, Ministry of Rural Development. She was educated at Jai

    Hind College in Mumbai, earning a B.Sc degree in Microbiology.

    Supriya initiated a campaign in Maharashtra to have its first youth policy. Along with

    demanding the State Government to declare its First Youth Policy, she conducted

    state-wide consultations with youth from various sections like Navmaharashtra Yuva

    Abhiyan, Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthaan etc. and presented a draft youth policy

    to the State Government which was accepted as a basic document to formulate

    official State Policy.

    She also initiated a State-level campaign for public awareness against female

    foeticide mainly through rallies where thousands of young girls had participated. This

    campaign highlighted the issue in media and with policy makers.

    Supriya is involved with educational activities in various capacities. She is engaged in

    education of tribal children through many schools and is also a board member for the

    schools of the Pawar Public Charitable Trust. She is also associated with Vision

    programme for career guidance to school children and youth and initiated the

    Yashswinini Abhiyan for upliftment of women below poverty line. It organises women

    into SHGs, providing them training for entrepreneurship, value addition and

    marketing.

    She is also the convener of the first political wing for young girls in the country, the

    Rashtrawadi Yuvati Congress (RYC); and she has travelled all over the State and has

    had direct dialogue with more than 2.5 lakh girls. RYC provides a platform for these

    girls to express their feelings and raise their issues.

    Supriya has wide-ranging interests in the socio-cultural arena, especially in paintings,
