ABHIJIT JOSHI

Veritas Legal has been founded by Abhijit Joshi, a professional with 22 years of experience in the Indian legal industry and a winner of many national and international accolades.

He was the senior partner and chief executive officer (CEO) at AZB & Partners until November 2104. 

His key practice areas included mergers and acquisitions, general corporate and commercial law and private client law.

Mr Abhijit Joshi started his journey with merely 15 lawyers at AZB which has now grown into an organization that has over 200 lawyers.

He is an advocate, solicitor and solicitor England and Wales having completing his articles under Amarchand Mangaldas managing partner Cyril Shroff in the early nineties.

Abhijit Joshi has featured in International Who’s Who Legal as ‘Leading Lawyer for Mergers & Acquisitions 2013’ and ‘Prominent Lawyer in the Franchise Sector’.

He has also been listed by IFLR1000 as ‘Leading Lawyer for Mergers & Acquisitions Leading and Private Equity 2012 & 2013’.

Abhijit is associated with Entrepreneurs Organization, Young Presidents’ organisation and is a member of Legal Practice Division of International Bar Association.

A member of the Law Firm Management Committee of the International Bar Association, Abhijit is also associated with Law Society of England and Wales.

He holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Bombay University.

Achievements and Milestones -

He has been involved in some of the major landmark deals, such as the Rs 5,150 crore Tech Mahindra - Satyam Computer Services merger, Usd 2.6 billion Tata -Docomo transaction among many others

Swedish firm Recipharm has picked up 74 per cent stake in sterile injectables maker Nitin Lifesciences for Rs. 671 crore ($103 million) in an all cash deal.

Veritas Legal acted for Recipharm with a team led by Partner Nandish Vyas along with Associates Natasha Sethna and Tejasvi Saxena.

This is the largest inbound deal in the sterile injectables space in the last two years, after the $1.75 billion acquisition of Strides Arcolab’s subsidiary Agila Specialities by Mylan in 2013.
