AcademicResearchExpeditionsOverthepasttenyearsIhaveconductedmorethan50academicresearchexpeditionsandtravelledmorethan96,000kilometersoveratotalofapproximately180days.Fiveoftheseresearchexpeditionsarehighlightedbelow.

1. ThefirstexpeditionontheProphet’s(PeaceandBlessingsbeuponHim)migrationorhijrahroute:ThistripbeganfromtheProphet’shouseinMakkahtothecaveontheMountainofThawrandcontinuedthroughnumerousdocumentedmilestonestotheQubaMosqueandfinallytoProphet’sMosqueinAlMadinah.This400kilometerjourneytooknineconsecutivedays:fromFebruary19–27in2009and150ofthosekilometerswerecoveredbyfoot.

2. ThesecondexpeditionontheProphet’smigrationroute.This research expedition followed a similar route as the first expedition, beginning at thesite of where the Prophet’s house once stood in Makkah and ending at the Prophet’sMosqueinAlMadinah.Onthistripmorethan220kilometersweremadeonfootandtheexpeditionlastedfromJanuary5–14in2011.

3. ResearchExpeditiontoexploretheRouteoftheProphets.

The Route of the Prophets is the road that the prophets, such as Ibrahim, took to get toMakkah. This route is also the one that was used by the ProphetMuhammad, Peace beuponHim,toperformHajj.ThestartingpointbeganintheareaoftheProphet’sMosqueinMadinahthatwasthelocation14centuriesagooftheProphet’shouseandcontinuedoverninedays to theHolyMosque inMakkah.Morethan120kilometersof the430kilometerjourneywasdoneonfoot.ThisexpeditiontookplacefromDecember30toJanuary7,2012.

4. ThefirstexpeditiontoresearchtheProphet’sroutetoTabuk.

ThisninedayexpeditionwasconductedfromMarch6–14,2013.

5. ThesecondexpeditionalongtheProphet’sroutefromTabuktoAlMadinah.Thisexpeditionfollowed the return journey of the Prophet. This 380 kilometer journey began at theTawbahMosque inTabukandended inAlMadinah. The intentofthisexpeditionwastofocus on a specific part of the route, where 20 kilometers were covered by foot. ThisexpeditiontookplacefromApril10–12,2013.
