  • Abai Kunanbaev (1845 1904)The Kazakh poet, philosopher, translator musician and political activist Abai was born in Chingis-Tau, Semipalatinsk province. Abai contributed a lot into Kazakh poetry. His poems express great patriotism and originated from Kazakh folklore. Abai also translated the works of Russian and European authors into Kazakh.
