COMPONENTS AND STARTING INSTRUCTIONS - Can cut blocks using either brick saw or hammer & bolster.
The APP is an essential first starting point for your custom project! Always use the “estimating” feature on the app before building!
When building directly atop an existing paved or concrete surface, ensure the area is flat!
In these applications, you do not need to glue blocks to the existing surface, the weight of the blocks will hold the wall in place, though if you wish for extra support, you can use a landscape grade adhesive to secure units onto the existing flat surface.
Maximum Freestanding Wall height: 750mm (5 courses) for freestanding walls!
Maximum Pier Height: 900mm (6 courses)
Maximum Height for Retaining Wall: 300mm (two courses). This is the maximum height for applications retaining soil including planter boxes and veggie patches!

CREATING CURVESUse AB® Courtyard York Blocks to create curves! Use these blocks faced the other way to straighten curved walls! Always take note of the ‘long face’ and ‘short face’ when curving or straightening walls!

To start and finish walls between AB® Courtyard piers, you will use cut Dublin blocks to give you a flush professional finish!
There are two types of caps for AB® Courtyard walls. Firstly, the standard wall cap which should be laid in the above pattern for straight or curved walls! The AB® Pier Cap is a 2 part cap for AB® Courtyard piers! The TOP of the cap has a raised point, be sure to lay the correct side up! Secure all caps in place atop of walls using a landscape grade adhesive.
Note: Some cutting may be required for caps, while this is common for retaining walls, always use appropriate PPE and use cutting equipment with care!
FINISHING AND CAPPING WALLS!
AB® Courtyard circles can be created using 28 York Blocks. Simply identify an area and if on soil, dig out the space and compact with roadbase before screeding level. If you’re building onto an existing flat pavement, just begin laying blocks!
Lay the first York block and with the long side facing out, continue laying. The angled blocks will create a curve until the circle is complete! Some manoeuvring may be required to fit the last block into place – slightly open the circle to ensure a neat fit. Lay courses atop and cap to finish!
