AAPFCO Label Training
Association of American Plant Food Control Officials is an organization from each state in the U.S. , Canada and Puerto Rico who are actively engaged in the administration of fertilizer laws and regulations and research workers employed for investigations concerning mixed fertilizers, fertilizer materials and their component parts.
AAPFCO State Representatives 2016 Annual Summer Meeting
Label- written, printed or graphic matter on the immediate container or a statement accompanying a fertilizer
Labeling- Labeling means all written, printed or graphic matter, upon or accompanying any soil amendment including advertisements, brochures, posters, tv, and radio announcements used to promote the sale
This goes for “soil amendment,” “compost,” “horticultural growing media,” etc., as appropriate
Brand- the term, design or trademark used in connection with one or several grades of fertilizer
Examples include: SuperGro SupremeDave’s Outrageous Plant Food
The grade is the percentage of Total Nitrogen (N), Available Phosphate (P2O5)and Soluble Potash (K2O)
Grade should not include any nutrients other than above.
The grade for mixed numbers must be in whole numbers such as 10-20-10
Specialty fertilizers may be guaranteed in fractional units of less than one percent of (N) (P2O5) and (K2O)
Guaranteed analysis is the manufacture’s guarantee for minimum percentage of nutrients claimed for the product.
